Just an update, got the car back from the garage, they have now replaced all 4 injectors, changed the fuel filter, changed the injector return leak off pipe, dropped the fuel and put a particulate flush through… so far so good but with it going again so quickly the last time I’m really not optimistic on it staying fixed…2 points

Allegro - nah, too safe. Try a small swing-axle Triumph (Herald or Spitfire) or better still a small swing-axle Fiat with the weight over the rear axle. Any one of these will give you good driving skills - if you survive ...2 points

You could just turn Keyless Entry off in the Vehicle Settings, that's what I did for a few reasons including security.2 points

Well having just quickly checked out your other 2 posts, the best thing you can do is sell your Fiesta which are in huge demand at the moment and buy a 1970's Allegro that will test your driving skills to the full2 points

Hi all. As its the last Friday before Xmas, I assume no one else made it before Xmas, but rest assured I'm sure it'll be very early in January, and rest assured you can look forward to it, its worth it. Knocking on 750 miles in mine now. Trip to London and back yesterday and today averaged 49 mpg, and loved it. It will serve us well as an adventure car. It's got a stone chip already, but it's there to be used. I'll sort it out when the weather's better along with the b&o stickers and number plate screw cover caps ford seem to leave off. Anyway, Merry Christmas all. Hope you have a lovely time with your families, and enjoy your new focus, or look forward to receiving one I'm the new year. Plimp92.2 points

It very much depends on how you drive it. I can drive nearly 100 miles at a fairly constant speed on a motorway and the range will steadily rise until it will be showing about 50 more miles than when I started. The computer is saying "if you continue to drive at this speed in this constant manner then this is the range you can expect". The range then falls off around town with traffic lights, braking and accelerating. It's just a guide.2 points

With no other mention of after-market LEDs in the MOT guidelines, all that is left is for them to check is that the beam pattern is correct and the colour of the light is predominantly white, white with a blue tint or yellow. Any good quality after-market LED bulbs will meet this criteria. As long as the beam pattern and the colour of the light is correct – then there is no reason an LED upgrade bulb will fail an MOT In addition, the current 4.1.4 update applies only to England, Wales, and Scotland. I can find no mention of Northern Ireland. Before researching this, when I get my new LED bulbs I had full intentions of swapping them out for my MOT in the summer, I'm tempted now just to leave them in and see what happens...1 point

I guess we just see things differently. If I'm reading one your post above correctly, you were driving in the 70's. That means you're either archaic or I'm just some young whippersnapper. 😉1 point

What’s the difference in the spec between the Halfords battery and the battery you have now? This info might help others. Do you know the spec of what the battery was before you put the Halfords one in there? Your profile says car is 2018, that’s not very old for the original battery needing replacing.1 point

My triumph vitesse was a handful . Plenty of power from the straight 6 engine sliding it nicely on a damp roundabout or any bend really. 🤣🤣1 point

The instrument cluster test menu is not particularly accurate. The instrument cluster test menu shows the input voltage of the instrument cluster. It is basically the output voltage of the DC/DC converter and not the battery voltage.1 point

Unable to advise, still waiting for an answer to the question I asked 28th March 2021 😧 However if you have the EXACT same problem then the answer will be exactly the same 👍1 point

Now, we're all praying for a Christmas miracle for you! The OP started the thread over 18 months ago, and hasn't been back since, but you never know!1 point

The heated front screen requires a few conditions to be met before it will operate. First the battery state of charge (SOC) needs to be at least 70% Second the engine must be running Third the outside air temperature has to be 7oC or colder These conditions are monitored by the Body Control Module (BCM), so in all probability there is nothing actually wrong with your screen, only that one on more conditions have not been met.1 point

I have a mk8 civic as well as my fiesta. Had a focus as well in the past. I like all the cars. And recently bought a mk6 fiesta for my brother as his first car. No issues with Fords at all. Reliable and easy to work on. Parts a peanuts as well. Id happily buy another ford.1 point

Funny one this. The brakes on my non-hybrid are quite sensitive which I adapted to but always notice when swapping between cars. The only MHEVs I've driven were Pumas, most recently for several hours, and I didn't notice an issue at all.1 point

Mark, If the headlights are good enough, why do the individual foglights come on at all then, for what can be a ridiculously small steering input ?1 point

The easy answer is swap back to a manual. However, there is a different sort of skill/pleasure involved in getting to know how to get the best from your auto box as opposed to just sitting back and sticking it in "drive". Also as you have mentioned in another post there are new skills to be acquired regarding the regen braking, which you would have to cope with in many new cars these days anyway, irrespective of gearbox.1 point

It’s not a bad idea to get one, there are probably cheap diy options you could find. A 2022 focus should have the newer key fobs that go to sleep after a short period of not being moved, so they don’t send a signal out.1 point

Go and wash your mouth out with soap this very instant !!! If @StephenFord catches you promoting a charger that's not a Maypole, Christmas or no Christmas he'll have you excommunicated 🤣1 point

You don't understand. Any proper 'boy racer' would just replace the bulbs. Not go to the trouble of replacing all the associated wiring! I know, I installed my 1st set of Cibie Oscars without even installing a relay! I learned a quick lesson when smoke started appearing from the wiring loom when I switched them on. We didn't have YouTube in those days! Making 100w 'illegal' saved lives LOL1 point
-
They have been illegal since the 1970s when I 1st looked at uprating the bulbs on my Datsun 120Y LOL The additional current draw would have burned my then car to the ground, well before it gently rusted to death1 point

Merry Christmas! Took mine on a first short outing this weekend (60Km outside town) as there were 6'C and sunny. What impressed me is the stability and good wind noise sound proofing. Now it's back underground. In the mean time, until spring arrives, I'm deep diving into detailing. Already got the entire CarPro suite of products. 😅 I will get a CQ UK 3.0 + SiC double coating on it in the summer. PS. after we all get the cars we should move to some new MK 4.5 general discussions topic. 🙂1 point

Yes, it's normal. It's made the car undriveable for me. People have different tolerance thresholds though. Most seem to get used to it quickly.1 point

There is one guy in Germany, with some huge vibrations. Service replaced half of the car including auto gerbox. But, out of the sudden, the guy found out that his steering wheel angle calibration is 7.5degree when driving straight forward. There was also discrepancy with ABS, ESP readings. I don't know the end of the story, according to him, executing some calibration procedures help greatly with the f* vibrations. At least, that is a thread to explore.1 point

Aircraft a bit more important to be able to fly on one engine. Otherwise with no engines you would be up there all day.1 point

You really need to stop fixating on it leaking again. Plenty of other stuff on your car will break well before that!1 point
