  1. I am undecided by the auto stop-start. Part of me feels that it is good for the enviroment and that it is saving me petrol money and the other part of me thinks it could be a nuisance and I am pleased that there is a facilty to switch the auto stop-start off. Questions:- 1/ Does using the auto stop-start cause any damage to the starter motor/engine? 2/ Does the auto stop-start actually save any money on fuel? Thanks in advance for any well meaning answers/replies.
  2. I have noticed on a few occasions when the auto stop-start has been working (it doesn't always work) that the engine will cut out when stopped in heavy traffic or at traffic lights and it will then just start up again after about a minute on its own without me pressing down the clutch or doing anything. Can anyone explain why the car engine starts again after the auto stop-start has engaged? Thank you in advance for any straight forward and helpful explanations.
  3. Thank you for your suggestion Mozz and I will certainly consider the silicon spray. Does anyone else have any suggestions, ideas and / or products that can be used? Also, is there a car wax product that does not leave a white wax residue on the black trim of the car or if it does, is easy to wipe off?
  4. Ford Fiesta Titanium Eco Boost - 14 Plate Can anyone give me any proven tips/advice as how to clean some car wax residue and staining off of the matt black metalic trim of my car. There is also some very light scuffing to the black trim. Is there a product that would remove the scuffing without making it look worse? Can anyone suggest a car wax product that does not leave a wax residue on the black trim or if it does is easy to wipe off? Thanks in advance for any proven helpful tips/suggestions.
  5. Before I buy a snow lance and snow foam are there any "do's" and "don'ts" about using a pressure washer on my car. I have a Karcher in my garage and thought that i would try it out on my car but get some advice first. I don't want the Karcher to damage the paintwork but guess the water pressure is not high enough.
  6. I appreciate your reponse TomsFocus - Thank you. When I press my key fob to lock the car and the lights flash a couple of times is that alarming the car in some other way and is it different from the imobiliser?
  7. Edit:- Does the imobiliser disengage the engine if someone tries to break into the vehicle or just set off an alarm - How does it work in simple terms?
  8. Thank you for your helpful response.
  9. I am not very technical with respect to cars and so please bear with me. How do I set the imobiliser on my Ford Titanium 2014 plate? Once I have double pressed the electronic key fob and the lights on the car flash is that it is the car imobilised? Does the imobiliser disengage the engine if someone tries to break into the vehicle - How does it work in simple terms? Thank you in advance for any helpful well meaning replies.
  10. Would it worth me buying snow foam and a snow foam lance for cleaning my car? How does the snow foam work, does it lift off the dust and dirst or will I still have to go over the car with a clean wet cloth? Which reasonably priced snow foam products could I consider buying which would do a good job and not be too expensive? Are there any reasonably priced snow foam lances I could consider buying that would fit onto my Karcher pressure washer? Thank you in advance for any helpful well meaning replies.
  11. There are a couple of flecks of chocolate that have dried in and marked my car seats. Does anyone know of the best and most straight forward way of cleaning the marks off? I do not want to completeley clean the car seats just the couple of marks. I was thinking of just using some cold water and washing up liquid first and then going over the marks again just with a cloth and cold water and then some dry clean paper kitchen towel - Is this the best way? If you know about cleaning car seats and before I make a start, I thought I would ask you. Thank you in advance for any helpful replies.
  12. This is an update to my previous posts:- I took my Fiesta into the main dealer last week for them to test and the auto stop/start which had not been working since I purchased the car from them early in December '18. I was told that the battery was only at 50% charge and they said that may have been the reason why the auto stop/start was not working. I am surprised the battery was only at 50% charge. I only purchased the car from the Ford dealer at the beginning of December '18 and I took it down the motorway to Brighton and back to London and so I would have thought the battery would have had sufficient charge. When I collected the car from the dealer last week I was pleased to see that the auto stop/start was working as I drove home and it continued to work for at least for another few days. The auto stop/start now comes on sometimes and other times it does not work. I have made sure that the auto start/stop is not turned off and I have turned off the climate control except it just hasn't worked today (I will try again later). Even though I will probably not use the auto start/stop that often I feel that it should work. Before I book the car back in with the dealer does anyone have any helpful suggestions or advice - Thanks in advance.
  13. I took the car into the Ford main dealer today for them to check the heated windscreen. I was informed that the battery was only at 50% charge and that they could not find a fault with the heated front windscreen. The Ford dealer also said that they had charged the battery today . I am surprised the battery was only at 50% charge considering I only purchased the car at the beginning of December 2018 and had taken it down the motorway to Brighton and back home last week. I will test the front windscreen again when we have some frost here in London (or whenever our winter truly arrives) and hopefully the defrost function will work.
  14. Upodate:- I took my Fiesta into the main dealer today and I am pleased to say that the auto stop/start is now working. I was told that the battery was only at 50% charge and that may have been the reason why the auto stop/start was not working. I am surprised the battery was only at 50% charge. I only purchased the car at the beginning of December '18 and I took it down the motorway to Brighton and back to London and so I would have thought the battery would have been fully charged. At least the issue is resolved (I hope).
