  1. As suspected, I just tried to move off in 3rd and no stall. Looks like a new clutch is needed. Probs not going to be a cheap fix but at least I know what the problem is for certain now. Thank you both for your help. I appreciate it. J.
  2. Thanks for the reply. Is there a way that you know of to test if it is the clutch? I think I may have fixed the high idle situation now so that's something! Haha
  3. Hi all, I'm having a really issue of late that I hope one of you guys may be able to help with. For well over a month, my Fiesta has been having real problems accelerating. Getting up to 20-30mph doesn't seem too much of a problem but getting beyond that can take a while. Going up hill can be a nightmare. Fuel consumption seems to be suffering too. When I accelerate up to speed, the revs go up instantly but it take a moment before the speed shows any sign of increasing. Once up to speed, I can stay there until I brake. As a bit of background, the problem started with erratic
  4. Thanks for that Ian, I've just ordered it. I'll fit it as soon as it arrives Thanks again. j.
  5. Hi, I noticed that there is a hose with about a 2'' (5cm) split in it just next to the sensor behind the throttle body. I have attached a photo to make it easier to identify. Please can you tell me what it is called as I need to replace it and I don't know if it is a generic hose or if it has an actual name? Thanks for the help. J.
  6. Just an update. My new filter came on Wednesday and I have literally just replaced it. I took it out for a quick spin and it seems to have regained its power and is back up and running. I followed your advice Dan and the video link and it was a simple straightforward fix. Thanks for your help. Appreciate it. J.
  7. Final update just to help people experiencing similar problems. It looks like I had a dodgy starter motor and I needed a fuel filter replacement. Once I changed the fuel filter the car regained its power and is not running well again. Thanks for all the help. J.
  8. Yeah, I'll do that. I've ordered the filter. Thanks.
  9. Thank you for the video link Dan. It seems straightforward enough. How do you release the fuel pressure and do I have to pressurize the fuel afterwards too? Thanks for your time. I appreciate you helping me out. J.
  10. Thanks for the reply Dan, do you think that this is an easy enough fix for a novice?
  11. I've heard elsewhere that it is just in front of the fuel tank which is towards the back on the passenger side. Does this sound about right? Thanks. J.
  12. Hi, I'm looking for some help/advise on an ongoing problem I have. My Fiesta Zetec (2007) has been having issues with random stalls at junctions (This has pretty much stopped since and removed and cleaned the throttle body) and very slow acceleration going up to 70mph. Also it idles erratically. I've researched my symptoms and it appears the most likely cause is a fuel filter issue. Please can you tell me where the fuel filter is located and if it a difficult job to do myself. I am by no means a mechanic but I've had some experience repairing/replacing parts. Thanks in adva
  13. I certainly have! There are still a few issues to sort out but I'm very pleased it's working again. Thanks again.
  14. It seems that this problem was starter motor related as the car does start now that I have changed it. I still need to sort out all the other problems with it to get it tiptop again. Thanks for the help on this.
  15. Thanks for the help. As you said, a little tap and it came off.
