Hi all Over the last few weeks when im starting my engine, every now and again it makes a sqeeking noise but once started its fine. Then yesterday at work after it started it continued to make that sqeeking noise, it was a bit like a belt sqeeking. after a few mins it stopped sqeeking. I drove the car home which is a 25 mile trip, then when I tried to start the car this morning it made that squeeking sound but with out the engine actually turning over and then it wouldnt do nothing except show ignition lights. Would I be correct in thinking its my altenator???

Had a problem with the starter motor on my mondeo, after taking it off, the cog which connects with the flywheel had sheered off. the cogs on the fly wheel were fine. Ive now replaced the starter motor bu when I turn the ignition on, the rev counter, speedomiter, fuel gage and temp gage all go straight over to max then back, then when I turn the key further to start car it makes a screeching niose from the starter motor but dosent turn the engine over.. can anyone shed any light on this?

I have a mondeo tddi 51reg Its hard to get it in to 1st & reverse gears. Does this mean my clutch is on its way out?
-
Thanks for all your help and advise mate. John

The top up of oil didnt make a difference. gutted. Cant aford the full kit at the moment. How much do you think the labour would be roughly to just change the clutch mate? Thanks John
-
Hopefully not, but if it is the clutch, is that big job?? How much would the parts cost?

Just topped it up and it took a quarter of a litre. I suppose only time will tell now.

Cheers mate. will give it a go

It just says MT75 ON THE BACK OF THE BOTTLE IT SAYS SUITIBLE FOR MT75 & MTX75 GEAR BOXES. My gearbox is MTX75
-
Ive just bought Comma Gear oil MT75 ESD-M2C186-A It also says on the bottle, Meets with Ford standard. And in the Haynes manual it states the Identification code for my gear box is MTX75 will this be ok to use? Thanks

Got the axles stands. Can anyone recomend what gearbox oil I should use? Thanks
-
The biting point is low as it has been since ive had the car. I think I will check the gear box oil level first. Looking in the haynes manual it suggests using axle stands so when I raise the car to check it, the car will be level. So my first job is to purchase some axle stands lol. Thanks mate John

It was the coolant level!!! the worrying thing is, it took 3 litres to top it up!! I will have to keep an eye on this now. Thanks mate John

Ive got a 51 reg Mondeo TDDI, Whilst I was driving it a few days ago the heating was set to hot but was only producing cold air, the temp gage was at half way as normal but still cold air coming through. After 5 minutes it started blowing warm air as normal. Today it happened again, the car had been running for 3o mins so it was fully warmed up, but again blowing cold air continuous but this time it didnt warm up at all. Can any one shed any light on this Cheers
