Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Sill Protectors ?

I kept them all with a full refund but i paid about £45 for them in January so i adapted the rear ones to fit they arent perfect but i made them fit!as i said to the seller i wasnt looking to rip him off but i had already fitted the front ones which where perfect i just wanted a rear set that fit he messed me about for around 2weeks being slow to reply to emails and trying to fob me off all i wannted was a rear set that fit in the end i emailed ebay to sort it he then offered me a refund which i accepted i said i would send rear ones back if he payed the P&P but he said just keep them and as the front where fitted (they stick really well) i couldnt return as a full set.
  2. Sill Protectors ?

I bought some exactly the same as this for wifes fiesta off ebay (cant remember the seller),the front ones fit fine very easy to install but the rear ones are shocking the grooves in the plate and the sill dont line up so they dont fit properly i complained and got a full refund. The plates do protect the sills i have 2 kids who climb in and out the car using the sills so it avoids scratches on the car sills but the protectors are scratched but thats what they are there for.
  3. Mk 7 Automatic Car Wash Alert !

A Sponge will cause a lot of swirls on the car too
  4. Alright fellas just a quick question i have noticed the wifes drivers side elec window does not do one touch up is this correct? The window goes one touch down if you hold the botton for a couple of seconds but does not do it to close,i havent noticed if the passanger side does either. We have 59plate basic fiesta vans at work and the drivers side does both one touch up and down again cant say if the passanger side does.
  5. Ford Cruise Control Pointless?

No speedlimiter option or any mention of it in the Audi just CC also the same in the Jag and Golf which is what im comparing to.
  6. Ford Cruise Control Pointless?

Thanks for the replies, with regard to the Audi it doesnt have adaptive CC just the standard CC and i will continue to use it 30MPH limits i find it works well for me not as if i fall asleep at the wheel as soon as i engage cc i am still alert to what is going on,we have quite a lot of long stretches of main roads near us that are 30MPH but not many traffic lights or roundabouts in yes still side roads but like i say im still alert to brake just as i would if i was in manual, these stretches are notorious speed traps. My Audi is a manual so no issues with auto changing gear for me. I have to say other than this gripe i have with the cc i have to say that SO far the Fiesta has been a cracking buy nicely loaded for a small car and quite roomy and decent to drive,it comes up great when cleaned im using werkstat on it and the flake pop from the car is unreal (moonstone silver),i say SO far due to the fact that we bought a 55plate focus brand new as the previous car and for the first 6months was in and out of the garage due to water leaking into the boot it was finally resolved and after that served us well apart from it drank fuel (1.6 petrol).
  7. Ford Cruise Control Pointless?

This maybe true!I asked a couple of my mates yesterday one has a golf R32 and said the CC behaves the same as the Audi,my old man has a Jag XF which also behaves in this way. From what i understand of his reply above Pragmatix has had a C5 and Laguna that also behave in the same manor. I have found this on Ford website even that is wrong as it states " Once you’ve chosen the speed you wish to drive at, the cruise control keeps your car moving at that speed until you press the brake or clutch pedals." (unless Descending should be mentioned)! http://www.ford.co.uk/FordInnovation/Technology/FordPrecisionDrive/CruiseControl
  8. Ford Cruise Control Pointless?

Pretty much like football is the debate on CC its all about opinions!I have been using CC around town for the last few years now in the Audi with no issues at all obviously i dont use it on side streets or at peak bumper to bumper times but use it quite often in 30MPH zones main roads to the keep speed down and works really well and keeps any speeding tickets off the door step! Also if im on a motor way and hit a hill the Audi (dont want to keep mentioning the Audi but thats what im using as my comparison) will be kept at 70MPH,but if i was to do that in the Fiesta the car would build pace so i guess i would have to start faffing about at over 70MPH with the gears to "help" the engine maintain the 70MPH CC setting what a load of rubish i will just tell the wife to stop using it problem solved. Stewie just out of interest why do you consider it to dangerous to use CC in lower speed limit areas?
  9. Ford Cruise Control Pointless?

I never said a ford is an audi i was simply comparing the cruise control systems and in my eyes the Ford one is pointless its not controlling anything when going downhill? In addition to this as you say it says in the manual (i agree as i read it today)press set button and change gear to keep below 30MPH would need to be a low gear probably revving the b@lls off the car surely being less economical (yes you wouldnt be driving like this allday)also if you help it along by braking or lower gear the pressing set the car would just speed back up once youve let go of the brake meaning the system is pointless on this scenario
  10. My wife has a 61plate Fiesta titanium i dont drive it much,we have had the car for a couple of months. She asked me about the cruise control yesterday saying she set it at 30MPH going down a local bank/hill that is quite steep and about 2 mile long which is notorius for speed traps. She said once set at 30 and going down the bank the car gathered speed until she got to around 40MPH and felt the need to brake. So today i drove the car in the same manor down the same bank and sure enough same thing happened i was baffled, when i checked the hand book it states the car will not brake under cruise cont on an hill,so infact the cruise control should be advertised as cruise control (but read the small print only works on he flat!) i just find this pointless.I have no previous experience of ford cruise control is this how they all work? I own an Audi with cruise control and this if set at for example 30MPH will keep the car at this speed up hill (you can feel car accelerate) and when going downhill (you can feel car braking to maintain the set speed)the car only drops out of cruise control mode should i brake or cancel it via the selector. I use cruise control in the Audi quite a lot mainly in 30MPH especially in known speed traps to keep me below or on the speed limit in these areas flat, downhill or uphill it is far supperior to the cruise cont on the Ford after what i have discovered today.
  11. Boot Comes Open

Before the fiesta we had a 55plate focus and had this exact problem its the switch. In the focus the water got into the switch soleniod and jusy kept popping the bootas it made a short, i guess there still the same water ingress issue on the new fords!

  14. Fiesta Titanium 1.4 Petrol Advice/running Costs

Thanks for the replies so far,I understand the diesel will be a bit more economical but £1000 initial layout (difference in price between petrol and diesel.4)is my issue i really dont think i would make that back if we only keep the car for 3years(might keep it longer but im basing the costs on 3years motoring). I own an Audi A4 2.0Tdi S-line and this will be the main family car for long journeys days out ect so the main thing the fiesta will be used for is round town taking kids to school wife to work ect ect would be very rarely used on long journeys and this is the reason im looking at the 1.4 petrol.
  15. Hi All First post on the Fiesta forum. My wife currently has a 55plate focus titanium 1.6 petrol that we bought new,my kids are now out of the pushchair so we have decided to downsize after looking round at various cars we have decided on the Fiesta 1.4 petrol titanium have a good offer for a deal on buying new(originally was looking at used).I was originally looking at the 1.4diesel engine but it is an extra £1000 to buy and TBH for the mileage she does(mainly around town)i dont think i would get any benifit from the diesel cost wise over the period of us owning the car.But that is what i have posted this thread about. Looking for some advice from current owners of both petrol and the diesel 1.4 engines running cost wise MPG servicing costs ect,i know there is a £100 difference in the annual tax so that in affect is £300 of that £1000 above over a 3 year period. Also thinking of getting the car on ford options we did that on the focus but decided to keep it after the 3 year period its now 6years old and time to downsize. The focus has done exactly what it says on the tin got x2 kids in (in the boot!!) pushchairs in boot shopping ect my only complaint on the car is that it only averages 29MPG we are forever filling it up (or what feels like we are). So any advice on the fiesta will be gratefully received probably going to decide by the weekend if we are going to buy but i am 75% leaning towards it. Cheers Andy
