Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Hello. I am an owner of Ford Fiesta 2012 "Trend" 1.4 gasoline. From my previous car I have been used to lights automatically switch on (when I start the car) and switch off (when I lock the car). In this car I have to manually switch the lights on/off, which isn't a problem, except that I forget a lot and it's against the law in my country to have the lights off when driving. The car currently makes audible noise, when I forget to turn the lights off. However, it does not remind me to turn the lights on! I will be happy with either the extra audio reminder, or the automatic lights switch, or really anything else that might resolve my problem. I've been calling around a bit and found out that the mechanics can install a relay for 60€ ($80) which takes care of it, but the battery will wear off quicker for some reason. Yet another mechanic tells me that the relay will be installed as a "GEM" module (or something to that matter) and that this will not present a problem. The extra audio noise is cheaper, but both of mechanics have never done this before (on this car), so I'm kind of weary of this option. Can anyone else shed some light on the matter? Will the relay really wear my battery faster, or can I safely install it? Thanks!
  2. EAC fail

I had this problem on a 1.4 zetec petrol Fiesta, brought second hand from the garage, after three months being repaired eventually the ECU had to be replaced, its being working for 4 months since so it may require a replacement ECU worst case scenario. The EAC fail problem is a git to say the least.
  3. My engine is making a clicking sound

I found this post through a Google search so I'll add my comments even though I don't have a Fiesta. Same issue here with an '06 Ford Mustang GT. Every 30 seconds or so, without fail, *tick*. I can feel a slight pull on the engine as well, almost as if a single cylinder missed once. The tick I don't mind but the sudden, short-lived load on the engine bothers the heck out of me. I use the A/C as little as possible. The A/C system was just recharged at a Ford dealership and I had mentioned the ticking problem when bringing the car in. I guess it's normal. I don't ever remember such frequent compressor reseting on other vehicles.
