Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Ok so I spent the last 3 days going over the car checking pretty much everything, I found the fuel return pipe was blocked, free that up car ran but still misfire, anyway after removing the air intake system, I found the problem the temperature sensor that also controls the fan, is completely shot to bits, the sensor just crumbled disintegrated creating a short circuit, and the misfiring, the temperature sensor is mounted on a plastic housing which acts as a junction for the water works, there are I think five pipes going into this unit of differing sizes, I had to remove the housing completely and when doing so this also began to crumble, after a trip to my local scrap yard and replacement part in hand for a tenner as opposed to £45 new, I fitted part turned key and car sprang into life and all is now well, So this may help someone out should they suffer the dreaded misfire problem, that not even my local garage could find.
  2. My daughter has a 2007 KA, she brought it over to me because it has started to misfire, as a matter of course I replaced the HT leads, took the car for a14 mile round trip in order to get the engine running at temperature, at around half way I stopped the car which up until then had been running spot on no misfire, I went into a shop then returned to the car ignition on and off I went again, only this time yes there was a misfire, a definite stutter as you went through the gears, I dropped a gear and foot down hard, it seemed to clear at high revs but as soon as I dropped off the pedal and drove normally the misfire was there again, my daughter tells me she has been into her local garage with this problem twice and twice they said nothing wrong, I am convinced this only shows up when the engine is hot. Can anyone point me in the right direction please.
  3. 13 Fiesta V Reg Water Leak

1300 fiesta v reg 1999, has developed a water leak on the bulkhead side drivers end, the dip stick bends under the inlet manifold, well the water is coming from somewhere around this aria, not from any pipe, the water seems I think to be coming from around the plastic manifold but I’m not sure, has anyone had this problem.
  4. Guys Fiesta year 2000 1300cc saloon petrol. Engine revs rise then take a while to drop, when driving you lift your foot off but engine continues to rev high for a while, I suspected the stepper motor, did the usual a good seeing to with a cleaner and then a good dose of WD40, replaced and fired up took it for a spin and yes much better, daughters car so told her if it sticks clutch in give the accelerator a good up and down and should help, got a call dad car is no better so bought new stepper motor, fitted it but engine worse than ever with new stepper, so while new one was on the car I gave the old one a really good seeing too, refitted and car was allot more settled, drove it myself a distance of 60 miles and for me it seemed ok, until nearly home then it began to play up again, this time I went in search of and air leak, and found a lug on the inlet with nothing connected to it so IU blanked it off and started engine seemed ok, so daughters asked if I would fit new stepper again, I did took it for run and again seemed ok, daughter took car home phoned and said car the same as was. Scratch my head nearly down to the bone, anyone throw any light on my problem please. Obviously to technical question!! answer is the carburettor position sensor out of sink.
