Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. I made it to Portrush. Excellent fair. The cars on display were a credit to their owners. I was particularly keen on the many excellent Capri's in attendance. The new Mustang was also impressive.
  2. Spacer Saver Or 16 Inch Steel Rim

    Many thanks for the comments.
  3. My wife has just acquired a 2010 Cmax Zetec 1.6 petrol which arrived with the dreaded tyre repair kit. After some research in the last day or two the options seem to be the 125/85 R16 space saver or a full size 16 inch wheel. Clearly the full 16 inch rim is a little too tall for the spare wheel well in the boot. How has anyone else got around keeping the boot floor level? I've been looking at tools kits for a Focus and Mondeo models with the jacks included. Would either of these be compatible with the Cmax to match up with the Spare wheel option? Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated? Thanks.
  4. Fiesta Mk7 Vibration

Which wheel rims does your car have? It could be a buckled rim.
  5. Tyre Sidewall Damage

I don't agree with the Ford dealer. Personally i would replace the tyre immediately as that is major damage to the sidewall.
  6. Spare Wheel Retaining Bolt

Is it a 15 inch steel rim? If your answer is yes then you need this: http://www.ebay.co.u...=item35adc51066 By the way this bolt will retain the jack and is fine on the mark 7: http://www.ebay.co.u...=item35aa033d5a Nothing worse than the jack bouncing around the boot. I have ordered and used both these parts in my 2009 1.25 Style. Good luck. Edit just to add: The item I have listed is the same as the one you claim is too long. Screw the bolt and cap in as far as you can. You will then find that the plastic cap will push down the shaft of the bolt and it fits nicely into the centre of the wheel.
  7. Cv Joint Failure?

Don't rule out a buckled wheel. This can cause a vibration.
  8. Help

If it's not the wheel balance then its almost certainly a buckled wheel.
  9. Space Saver Or Steel?

This link is a bolt to secure the wheel in the boot: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Genuine-Ford-Fiesta-2008-Onwards-Spare-Wheel-Bolt-Cap-/230548639846?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item35adc51066 This second link is a bolt to stop the jack bouncing about under the wheel: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Genuine-Ford-Fiesta-02-07-Jack-Secure-Screw-/230485605722?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item35aa033d5a I ordered both of these and I'm glad to say both the jack and spare wheel are secure in the boot. The 2nd link relates to a Mark 6 fiesta bolt but it fits my Mk 7
  10. Space Saver Or Steel?

I have a 2009 1.25 Style and I went for the full 15 inch steel rim which fits nicely in the boot. Not cheap when you add the jack, brace and a new 195/50 R15 tyre. Much happier with that than foam.
  11. Is A Spare Tyre Really Necessary?

Just an update. I got the spare wheel bolt from a Ford dealer on ebay and it fitted perfectly with the 15 inch rim. I am happier that on longer journeys, particularly late at night or holidays I have an equivalent wheel to replace any problem rubber. It's certainly something to consider for those with 15 inch steel or alloys on the likes of Edge, Style or Zetec models. Foam seems a better option for the larger 16 or 17 inch rims.
  12. Is A Spare Tyre Really Necessary?

I've decided to go with a spare for my Fiesta Mk 7(got it recently as used car from dealer) rather than the dreaded foam. I have opted for a fifteen inch steel rim rather than the 14 inch space saver. The spare wheel bolt has just been ordered (I have the rim and tyre already) and having read a few posts I'm wondering if the bolt is long enough to hold a 15 inch rim in place. Can anybody confirm this either way from personal experience? On a side note I've just started using the site and it great. I've picked up a few interesting tips about Mk7's already.
