Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Paint Code Help

Which part of the VIN plate? Does it say? Sorry if I'm being a noob, I don't know Fords. :)
  2. Paint Code Help

Hi all, I'm wondering where I can find the paint code on a 1997 Ford Fiesta Encore? My dad has recently damaged the tailgate on his and I don't know anything about these cars really. I'm a MG Rover person myself and only know them really, my mum recently replaced her Mk2 Mondeo with a 2003 Rover 25 and loves it. Well back to the original question? It's the light red colour but that's all I know. Haha. Cheers in advance.

I agree! Well I just got renewal quotes for a 1.6 Fiesta Titanium with Zetec S kit, came back at £760 fully comp (£900 TPF&T?) whilst my 25 comes back at £890. Looks Iike I know what I'll be getting. :)

Well. I couldn't have done the damage to the BMW or my granddad would of killed me!
  5. Contemplating A Fiesta

Ahaha! Both different instances my good sir! Mondeo was mum, rear ended a Range Rover! BMW was scraped in car park at work.

I bet! Has he got the leather interior seats? I'd love them! They look so comfy in the brochure. That is fair completely, but Rover were certainly pushing for the best, considering the K-series first appeared in 1988 it did pretty well, just became out dated towards the end of Rover and with the HG issues it certainly did MG Rover no help. They tend to be high end torque so they've got to revved to get the best use out of them. :( My cousin has a 2002 '52 Rover 25 TD, it's a 2.0 Rover L-series but it's been tuned to 160bhp and some rediculous amount of torque, I think something like 365 Nm. That car certainly shifts!

To be honest chap, I did have a look at the build my own car thing on their website, but I don't want to buy a NEW vehicle as my nan did it with her MG ZR and said it's something to avoid. Granted MG Rover went bust a couple of months after she purchased it but the whole losing the value part doesn't help at all. I'd rather go for an already registered one with around 10,000 miles or less on the clock. I assume it must be possible to get a Titanium with a Zetec S kit on in 1.4 petrol form?

    That was Rover for you! Always made you wonder. ;) Though to be fair, they were ahead of the times when it came to the engines in the bubbles (200, 25, ZR). For example; 1996 - Ford Escort 1.4 Encore > 88 BHP 1996 - Vauxhall Astra 1.4 > 59 BHP 1996 - Peugeot 106 1.4 Quicksilver> 75BHP 1996 - VW Golf 1.4 > 60 BHP 1996 - Rover 200 1.4 > 103 BHP

Aha. It was just the ignition on. ;) I just finished fixing the washers on my mums Mondeo. Never had a problem with my 25 in all the time I've owned it, only replaced the radiator as the top layer of fins had corroded, not bad for an 11 year old car with that many miles on the clock. ;)
  10. Contemplating A Fiesta

Nothing wrong with that. ;) Aha. I've got the carbon style one anyway as used in the MG varients. :) Here's my 25. Who ever said the K-series is unreliable? Mines the 1.6 version and has done over 173,000 miles now and it's still battling on! And this was my previous 200. I'm currently insured on my granddads BMW 320d and also my dads '98 1.3 Ford Fiesta Encore and mums '98 1.8 Ford Mondeo Verona.

Didn't realise that was an option?

It could well be mate. Nice and good for parking though and where my nan lives whom I visit a lot in Wales, it needs to be quick for reverse parralel parking on a steep hill! I'm torn between a Zetec S and a Titanium. I'd much rather prefer the Zetec S but the Titanium is more attractive with it's more comfortable ride and cruise controls, but then the Zetec S has a great looking kit on it. Cruise control seems good to me as I said, I visit family in Wales which is 90 miles + so it would be much better for driving on motorways.

Hehe, each to their own! My nan has a 2004 MG ZR 105+, she loves it! She test drove a new Jaguar XF the other day, loved that but it didn't make her as happy as her MG did. Strange! I feel sorry for you for ending up with a Corsa.. I test drove a 10 plate one at the end of last year, I wanted to kill myself! Old, outdated, horrid car! I was actually going to go Zetec S to be fair mate. :) I was just trying out the 1.4 as it was the best one available at this specific dealer. :) I'm not going to wait as I dislike the facelift! The big grille is a big NO NO for me. I've got a brochure so I'll be having a look at that in a minute as I've been to the pictures tonight.

I would have to say "fun". Now I know many would laugh at this but the Rover is a really fun car to drive, it's got a lively engine and handles beautifully. The Fiesta as nice as it is, doesn't quite put a smile on my face like my 25 does. I shall add though it makes up for that in build quality and fuel consumption!
  15. Contemplating A Fiesta

MG? Nothing wrong with them chap! I've had a Rover for the past 2 years and would continue with them if I didn't want something newer, never had a problem with them. ;) My dad has actually recently decided to get rid of his Mk2 Mondeo for a Rover 45 saloon. As for the test drive, I just got back. I test drove a 2011 Ford Fiesta 1.4 (petrol) Titanium... Luckily the dealer had a 1.4 petrol about so I tried that instead of the diesel. What an amazing car to be fair! The Fiesta has advanced in so many ways it's great. I loved the quiet, comfortable ride, air con/climate control, sound was decent quality from radio, and I loved the cruise control! Never driven a car with that before. :) It's certainly on the top of my small car list! It had some good power as well for the engine, I overtook a lorry and it pulled very impressively. :) Car in question was this one: Pictures were taken from dealer website as you can tell. Over all for me, I give it a 8/10. Just lacking a certain something my Rover has which I can't seem to figure out.
