Some time ago, due to the 'door open light' remaining on and being unable to lock the car, I had the unfortunate job of replacing the O/S/F central locking mechanism on my 2008 Ford Fiesta 1.4 TDCI. This involved the removal of the outer and inner door cards and all ancillary components. Unfortunately, I now have a similar issue with the N/S/F and, as it's been some time since I last carried out the repair, I simply cannot remember how to do this. I have tried to find the relevant information on the internet but without success. So thought I'd post on here to see if anyone could point me in the right direction?

    Hi Zain611 Yes. I'm reasonably sure that it will be a solid flywheel but, when I've tried to find out in the past, even quoting the registration number and VIN number, no-one can confirm either way. Thanks for the advice and we'll see if anyone else has further ideas
  5. This ageing 2008 Fiesta MK6 1.4TDCI of mine is now giving me further problems, whereas the clutch has finally decided to give up on me. I have been trying to source the correct parts for it but keep coming across the question "is this a solid or dual-mass flywheel"? Unfortunately, without stripping it down first, I am unable to find out for sure. Does anyone know if the flywheel and clutch assembly can be changed from solid to dual-mass and visa-versa? The reason I ask is that I have located a couple of complete kits, which include the flywheel, and was intending to replace the complete set. If it happens to be the same as the parts fitted then no problem, but if the replacements are the opposite to the currently installed parts, will they fit without any issues? Anyone else had this issue or have any advice?

    Steering 'Notchy' Advice Please

    Hi Mavroz Thank you for the information I suppose you could be right about the Macpherson strut top bearing? I didn;t relly suspect that as a probable cause. I will have to 'live with it' for the time being then as I'm not prepared to remove it again in the foreseeable future. Maybe it will 'settle down', or not? Will just have to see how it goes!
  7. Recently, whilst stationary, the front off side spring broke on my 2002 Fiesta MK6 1.4 TDCI. I have no idea why this occurred, but it did, and for no apparent reason whatsoever. Anyway, I have now replaced this and now I have noticed that the steering has become 'notchy', for want of a better word. I don't know if this is related but it certainly wasn't doing it before I changed the spring. Any ideas please ??
  8. Thank you all for your kind advice I can now confirm that I have sorted the problem - eventually. I purchased a second-hand O/S door mechanism from our local scrap yard, and after several hours of fiddling around, removing and replacing the unit, door card and glass can confirm this was the issue. The doors lock and unlock and the 'door open' warning light has finally extinguished. If only Ford would make it easier to remove and replace parts then I'm sure I could have sorted this problem earlier? Oh well - never mind.
  9. Right. I have queried this issue before but have never managed to get it sorted. I own a 2007/8 Mk6 Fiesta 1.4TDCI but the central locking doesn't work as it should. When trying to lock the car it rarely locks or it unlocks when it shouldn't. This is exactly the same if using either the remote control key fob or turning the key manually. It even unlocks, or the 'door open' warning light illuminates on the dash, when operating the windscreen wipers/washers. I have since found out from doing the GEM 'self test', shown in the attachment, that the fault probably lies within the drivers front door central locking mechanism or wiring. I have been trying desperately to find a replacement unit but have been unable to find out the number of pins on the unit. I have tried on several occasions to remove the door card to access the central locking unit and door lock, but have been unable to do this, so am unable to identify how many pins on the unit Can anyone please advise how to remove the door card and central locking mechanism, or maybe give me some idea how to find out the correct part required?   11. I own a 2008 Ford Fiesta Mk6 1.4tdci and need to replace the steering pump drive belt. However, when I try to find the part I require all websites show mine has being fitted with one drive belt that drives the alternator, A/C and steering pump etc.. My vehicle is fitted with TWO (2) separate belts - one drives the hydraulic steering pump and other drives the ancillary items etc.. Has anyone had similar issues and maybe know the part numbers for these items? Since posting I have found someone who had a similar issue and has advised that a normal auxiliary drive belt can be rerouted and used in place of the two belt set up.

    Thanks for the information and I'll bear that in mind. I will say I have no problem starting when the weather is warmer, even just a little! I still need to know more about glow plug removal first before looking elsewhere
  14. Just a quick question I have been having starting problems with my 2008 Mk6 Fiesta 1.4 TDCI. When cold the glow plug warning light rarely illuminates (seems to be quite a common issue) but then it takes many, many turns of the engine before it finally starts. I have done the dashboard self-test and all warning lights are working as they should, removed the glow plug relay, checked it and that is fine, so I suspect that one or more of the glow plugs could be the issue? I know access to allow checking of these can be made by removing the air cleaner, but what I really want to know are these removable without removing the inlet manifold? I have searched on-line but cannot really find any answers to this, and the Haynes Manual I have only give basic details on how to access them. I does however mention that the inlet manifold should be removed to gain better access. Before I investigate further can anyone advise?
  15. Just an update on my previous posts. I still have not managed to remove the door cards to inspect the ongoing issue.Have to keep slamming the doors shut so that the doors will lock. They no longer lock just using the key! Have now noticed the 'doors open light' now comes on when switching on the windscreen wipers. What this all about?? I'm getting really annoyed with what should be a relatively straight forward repair. Any further advice would be good !!!
