  1. I own a 2008 Ford Fiesta MK6 1.4 TDCI and I am having a little trouble with the door open warning light on the dash staying on. Also, the doors won't lock using the key remote control. If I shut the O/S front door hard then all is well so can only assume the problem could be the micro switch? The only problem .... Where is it ..? I cannot find it anywhere. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
  2. Hi I sorted my problem by replacing the door latches with good, second hand units. I've actually done both side now. Initially I thought this was going to be a difficult job, but it really isn't. Just a bit fiddly getting the door cards out. I got mine from a local Ford Fiesta breakers yard (they are listed on Ebay) which I would recommend. If I recall I think they cost around £20 each. Worth giving them a call https://www.usedfiestaspares.co.uk/

    Fiesta MK6 Air Con Question

I own a 2008 Fiesta Mk6 1.4TDCI and have just noticed a strange thing about the air conditioning. When in use it switches itself on and off regularly every 4 - 5 seconds or so. I use the air con all the time, including winter months, but I have to say, I have never noticed this before. When listening carefully you can hear the relay in the fuse box compartment switching on and off. Anyone else had a similar issue or is it supposed to be like this?

    Fiesta MK6 Air Con Question

Hi. That's not strictly true. The cost of re-gassing would normally be around £35 - £45 but unfortunately the cost of R134a refrigerant is now very expensive and it's this that as caused a spike in the overall cost. £40 - £60 is now the standard price for a decent job to be done.

    Fiesta MK6 Air Con Question

I think it also depends upon where in the country you live? Different places doing different deals. Higher prices now during summer months. <ind you, on saying that, just under two years ago I had a re-gas and it cost just over £40 so the price I got it for was reasonable in my opinion. I will tell you that when I spoke to a chap at Halfords local to me, he said they would do a top-up at £40, but that didn't include vacating the system. That obviously cost more. You get what you pay for I'm sure! https://www.halfords.com/advice/motoring/service/halfords-car-air-conditioning-services

    Fiesta MK6 Air Con Question

Hi. Where I live they charge anything from around £60 to £80. However, our local Formula 1 Autocentre charge £59 but give a discount of £5 if booked online. So £54. Reasonable I think? This involved vacating the system, lubricating and re-gassing which took around 40 minutes or so, Just check around and I'm sure you'll get a good deal. So glad I had it done particularly in this hot weather.

    Fiesta MK6 Air Con Question

Hi. Yes I think I have. I had a re-gas last week and it seems to be working fine now
  8. Right. I own a 2008 Fiesta MK6 1.4TDCI which as developed an intermittent misfire, which could also be best described as it misses a beat on odd occasions particularly under acceleration. I have to say this has only developed since I had the air con re-gassed a couple of days ago. I have no idea whatsoever whether this has anything to do with the air con or something else that has developed coincidentally? Unfortunately, because this is intermittent fault, I am unable to identify the problem so thought I'd ask if anyone else has had a similar problem? Any advise would be appreciated.

    Fiesta MK6 Air Con Question

Right. I called in to the garage where I had the air con re-charged and, after the guy checked the system, he said it wasn't particularly low on refrigerant. However, I think I am going to have it vacated and re-charged again just as a matter of course and see what happens.

    Fiesta MK6 Air Con Question

I don't think it was completely empty, but close to it. I remember him doing something before recharging but, as I'm not very familiar with this modern stuff, couldn't confirm one way or the other. I know I was there for around a hour and half whist he completed the job. Lets see what he has to say tomorrow? ❔

    Fiesta MK6 Air Con Question

I actually watched the guy vacate and recharge the unit and, If I recall correctly, he did check for leaks at the time before doing the recharge. Not to say a leak hasn't developed since of course. The only thing he wouldn't let me do is stand too close to it whist recharging. Something to do with Health & Safety. I've sent him an email and see what he says?

    Fiesta MK6 Air Con Question

I had the air-con serviced / recharged at the end of 2017, so would suspect this is not the issue? I could take it back to the garage who did the job and ask them to recheck just as a matter of course. In fact, I've got the MOT on Monday and the garage is only just up the road from there, so will perhaps pop in and ask them.

    Fiesta MK6 Air Con Question

No it doesn't really. I've just checked it again and still as I mentioned. 'Cycling' on and off and you can hear the relay clicking at these times. Hmmm??

    Fiesta MK6 Air Con Question

Hi. Yes it blows cold for 4 -5 seconds, switches off for a couple seconds, back on for 4 -5 seconds and so on.
  15. Some time ago, due to the 'door open light' remaining on and being unable to lock the car, I had the unfortunate job of replacing the O/S/F central locking mechanism on my 2008 Ford Fiesta 1.4 TDCI. This involved the removal of the outer and inner door cards and all ancillary components. Unfortunately, I now have a similar issue with the N/S/F and, as it's been some time since I last carried out the repair, I simply cannot remember how to do this. I have tried to find the relevant information on the internet but without success. So thought I'd post on here to see if anyone could point me in the right direction?

Fiesta MK6 Inner Door Card Removal

  18. This ageing 2008 Fiesta MK6 1.4TDCI of mine is now giving me further problems, whereas the clutch has finally decided to give up on me. I have been trying to source the correct parts for it but keep coming across the question "is this a solid or dual-mass flywheel"? Unfortunately, without stripping it down first, I am unable to find out for sure. Does anyone know if the flywheel and clutch assembly can be changed from solid to dual-mass and visa-versa? The reason I ask is that I have located a couple of complete kits, which include the flywheel, and was intending to replace the complete set. If it happens to be the same as the parts fitted then no problem, but if the replacements are the opposite to the currently installed parts, will they fit without any issues? Anyone else had this issue or have any advice?

Fiesta 1.4TDCI Clutch Replacement Advice Please

Hi Zain611 Yes. I'm reasonably sure that it will be a solid flywheel but, when I've tried to find out in the past, even quoting the registration number and VIN number, no-one can confirm either way. Thanks for the advice and we'll see if anyone else has further ideas
  20. Recently, whilst stationary, the front off side spring broke on my 2002 Fiesta MK6 1.4 TDCI. I have no idea why this occurred, but it did, and for no apparent reason whatsoever. Anyway, I have now replaced this and now I have noticed that the steering has become 'notchy', for want of a better word. I don't know if this is related but it certainly wasn't doing it before I changed the spring. Any ideas please ??

    Steering 'Notchy' Advice Please

Hi Mavroz Thank you for the information I suppose you could be right about the Macpherson strut top bearing? I didn;t relly suspect that as a probable cause. I will have to 'live with it' for the time being then as I'm not prepared to remove it again in the foreseeable future. Maybe it will 'settle down', or not? Will just have to see how it goes!
  22. Thank you all for your kind advice I can now confirm that I have sorted the problem - eventually. I purchased a second-hand O/S door mechanism from our local scrap yard, and after several hours of fiddling around, removing and replacing the unit, door card and glass can confirm this was the issue. The doors lock and unlock and the 'door open' warning light has finally extinguished. If only Ford would make it easier to remove and replace parts then I'm sure I could have sorted this problem earlier? Oh well - never mind.
  23. Right. I have queried this issue before but have never managed to get it sorted. I own a 2007/8 Mk6 Fiesta 1.4TDCI but the central locking doesn't work as it should. When trying to lock the car it rarely locks or it unlocks when it shouldn't. This is exactly the same if using either the remote control key fob or turning the key manually. It even unlocks, or the 'door open' warning light illuminates on the dash, when operating the windscreen wipers/washers. I have since found out from doing the GEM 'self test', shown in the attachment, that the fault probably lies within the drivers front door central locking mechanism or wiring. I have been trying desperately to find a replacement unit but have been unable to find out the number of pins on the unit. I have tried on several occasions to remove the door card to access the central locking unit and door lock, but have been unable to do this, so am unable to identify how many pins on the unit Can anyone please advise how to remove the door card and central locking mechanism, or maybe give me some idea how to find out the correct part required? Why do Ford have to make things so difficult? FIESTA SELF TEST.pdf

  25. I own a 2008 Ford Fiesta Mk6 1.4tdci and need to replace the steering pump drive belt. However, when I try to find the part I require all websites show mine has being fitted with one drive belt that drives the alternator, A/C and steering pump etc.. My vehicle is fitted with TWO (2) separate belts - one drives the hydraulic steering pump and other drives the ancillary items etc.. Has anyone had similar issues and maybe know the part numbers for these items? Since posting I have found someone who had a similar issue and has advised that a normal auxiliary drive belt can be rerouted and used in place of the two belt set up.
