    Rear Wheel Bearing

Morning all, Changed the rear wheel bearing on the Focus today-one of the most awkward jobs I've done. Accessing the hub bolts was a right pain! Car a lot quieter now though! Steve

    Another power steering leak

Thanks all, It is the pump that is gone. Having a new one fitted on Monday-only prob pump is now totally gone so will have to drive the car to the garage without power steering. Will give it a go tomorrow. Regards Steve
  4. Hello all, I've got another leak on my 2005 1.6 Focus. I had one three years ago and the pipes were replaced-it now looks like the pump is leaking. Any ides where to get a cheapish pump? I've had a quick look at ebay and they are around £200 Thanks Steve

    Another power steering leak

Thanks! Someone mentioned that the old pipes need to be cut off-but every time I've changed pumps/pipes they just unscrew. I'm sure the pipes do not have to be replaced when a pump is changed. Is this right? Thanks again Steve

Thanks! Will try and find an estate version! Regards Steve
  9. Hello all, Whilst out on a long run in my 2005 1.6 petrol focus estate I got a funny problem. I started to indicate to turn right- at this point the indicator lights on the dash and the indicator sound stopped-although on looking outside the indicators were working. The brake warning light also came on-and the Heated front windscreen stopped working. The central locking started to make funny sounds as if opening and closing. On further investigation the only way to open the boot was by using the third button on the remote-it would not open by pressing the button on the boot (estate). Also the car will not lock-when remote is pressed all doors lock but then open. Any ideas apart from burning the thing would be most welcome. Apart from this did a nice 130 mile highish speed run and a joy to drive. Steve

    Battery Problem

Evening all, I have a 55 plate 1.6 100bhp estate. Recently when starting it struggles to turn over and I can see a front light coming on from inside the car. The car then starts. It will start no problem a few times and then this problem reoccurs. I suspect the battery, but have never had one behave like this before-perhaps it is a feature of the calcim battery. Any thoughts before I buy a battery will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Steve

    Timing Belt Renewal.

Hello all, Have had a look but cannot find the answer! Wife has a 55 plate 100hp 1.6 petrol. It has done 55000miles. At what point does the timing belt need replacing on these? My old Omega's were 50000 miles. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks Steve

    Battery Problem

Just a quick update. Wife kept saying there was nothing wrong with her car-it must be me imagining things. Then it refused to start for her outside the son's school-ha! ha! Put a new battery on and has been fine. many thanks Stevve

    Thule Cycle Carrier

Morning all, Recently bought a set of genuine Ford roofbars of ebay for my 2005 Focus Estate. Tried fitting my Thule Cycle Carrier but the brackets that go around the bar are too small. Looks like I'm going to have to drill and bolt the carrier on. Keeps me occupied! Steve

    Thule Cycle Carrier

Thanks, Have found that Thule sell flat headed bolts to slide into the track to overcome the problem. £3 each so I still think I will drill and use the nuts and bolts I have in my garage. Cheers Steve
  18. Evening all, The headlight bulb has blown on the wifes 55 plate Focus. I went to change it but noticed access to the rear of the unit was very tight. Does the complete headlamp need to be removed ( :() and if so how? Many thanks Steve

    Many thanks James. Regards Steve
  21. Morning all, Just been away for a fortnight in the Focus-it's a 55 1.6 100hp petrol manual. It seems to hesitate when under mid throttle in 2nd and 3rd - it's a bit like it's missing but it's not-put your foot down and it's alright. It's had a new coil pack, air filter and plugs. The car has done 42000miles with a full Ford service history. It's not particularly good on mpg either. Could it need a new fuel filter? Any suggestions would be most welcome! Regards Steve

Hesitating And Not So Good Mpg

Thanks, Coil pack and plugs were fitted at a Ford main dealer (brother in law works there). it doesn't seem to be a misfire-it's as if its going uh-uh-uh-a bit like fuel starvation (the wife doesn't notice it). I don't think it's getting anywhere near 36mpg. I'll check the plug gaps as well. Cheers Steve

    Creaking Noise When Turning

Morning, I've got this with my Focus as well. Sounds to me like the rubbers are dry and need a greasing-I'll have a look at mine and report back. Steve
