Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Ford Fiesta Ecoboost Mpg

I went for a fairly long drive yesterday and this was my reward... :D
  2. Ford Fiesta Ecoboost Mpg

On a long run I can get maybe 45mpg but on my daily commute (around 10 miles, usually spent in a queue) I get around 35 which is about the same sort of fuel consumption I used to get in my old Fiesta 1.4 auto. I do prefer my Powershift though - it never seems to struggle and the reduction in RFL is really nice too!
  3. Ford Fiesta Ecoboost Mpg

  4. Hi everyone. I'm planning on trading in my 2010 Fiesta Titanium 1.4 automatic for a new Fiesta Powershift Ecoboost shortly (not sure if it'll be a Titanium or Titanium X yet though). I have a couple of (possibly dumb) questions about some of the gadgets... Reversing camera - my current Fiesta has the rear parking sensors so does the reversing camera also do the proximity beep thing too? Keyless entry (I think this is part of the "convenience pack" promotion) - does the car unlock if you're just walking past it or do you have to try opening the door (and it will only unlock if you have the fob in your pocket)? And how do you lock it?
  5. I'm not complaining though, I got the exact car I wanted to begin with... only with a really good discount and trade-in and she looks so pretty :D
  6. I had been after a Titanium X but the earliest delivery on that was end of November ... so then I just asked the dealer to start looking for anything similar and a Titanium popped up - just lucky I guess.
  7. I like having the parking sensors but only as a double-check for what I can already see, that's why I wasn't keen on the reversing camera that comes as standard with the Titanium X - I guess it's personal preference though and something I might have got used to eventually if I'd bought an X. The push button start would have just been a gimmicky/show-off sort of thing and to be honest I prefer using the keyfob to lock/unlock the car and turn the ignition ... so all in all, *not* having the Convenience Pack wasn't a dealbreaker. ie. if Ford weren't offering the Convenience Pack for free then I wouldn't have asked for it anyway.
  8. Ford are doing a promotion at the moment where it's "free" (or rather included in the price - the dealers pay for it and then they are reimbursed ... or something like that)
  9. Panther Black - my old car was the same colour.... I just like black Fiestas! One minor complication.... my new car doesn't have the Convenience Pack (no keyless entry or start/stop button). The dealer was as confused as me about this as it's definitely a brand new car and should have it fitted free of charge. After a lot of head-scratching (and me threatening to pull out of the deal) we reached a compromise and they gave me £500 quid off. Really nice to drive though, loving it so far. Only thing I noticed when I got home - the engine seems to get very warm (and I only drove it back from the dealer to my house - maybe 3 miles tops)... possibly something with it being brand new? Time to update my profile.
  10. After a lot of chats with local dealers I finally decided to get a Titanium. The Titanium X seems to be extremely rare at the moment so I would have ended up waiting a while if i really wanted one and I was still a bit undecided about whether I'd use the extra toys all that much, Picking up my new Titanium later today! :D
  11. A new day and I'm tempted to get a Titanium X now - I'm just so indecisive! Next dilemma is the colour.
  12. Doesn't sound very good. I might go for a Titanium and see if I can get a bit of a discount by not having the keyless entry stuff installed.
  13. Mine has an annoying rattle in the back somewhere, sounds like something is loose in the boot but it's completely empty. Also, there's a silly problem (feature?) with the auto : switch off the ignition while still in D, turn the key to position II, select P and remove the key - the stereo stays on.
  14. Armrest For Fiesta Mk7

There's some close-ups of the armrest on Amazon - looks like it attaches to the floor not to the cup holder which is different to the US version... I'm not keen on the metal frame and the cushion top doesn't match the fabric in my car ... possibly I'm being too fussy but for £99 I'd expect something that looks like it's part of the car.
  15. Fiesta Automatic

I have a 1.4 auto. Petrol consumption is a bit of a let down, official MPG is 42 but the best I've got out of it so far is 33 - one reason why I chose the Fiesta was to hopefully save a bit of money on fuel but unfortunately that hasn't happened. The auto gearbox is okay but not as good as other autos I've owned (possibly due to it being a smaller engine and only 4 gears).
  16. I checked the average MPG this morning and my car reckons it's doing around 32MPG at the moment :( - 2010 1.4 auto mostly doing short daily journeys (5-10 miles) with lots of commuting traffic, junctions, etc. Anyone else have the 1.4 auto? Is my MPG about right? Official MPG figures are into the low 40s but of course I'm not really doing the "ideal" sort of driving. The car is only about 6 months old and I've only had it a couple of weeks so I reset the MPG counter but is it also possible to reset the ECU? Does the Fiesta have a "learning" ECU? (just in case the previous owner thrashed the engine so it's running fat at the moment).
  17. Yellow/orange Dash Light

Powertrain warning - the car has gone into safe mode because it thinks something has gone horribly wrong. Visit a garage asap.
  18. Cruise Control Not Working As Expected?

by the way, something I've wondered about with the cruise control on a manual box. My Fiesta is an automatic so if I'm doing 70 on the motorway and I'm on a bit of an incline (Windy Hill on the M62 for example) then the car will drop down a gear and give it a bit of oomph to get it to the top of the hill - how does this work on a manual? Does the car just struggle in the current gear or does it warn you somehow or does it disengage the cruise control? (none sound ideal)
  19. Armrest For Fiesta Mk7

I think I'd prefer it to be half the length and lower down.
  20. Cruise Control Not Working As Expected?

Other cars I've owned with cruise control had the same feature (you activate cruise control with the "on" button but it doesn't actually take control of the throttle until you press "+") - possibly a safety feature in case you accidentally press the "on" button? If you need to over-ride the cruise control by braking or accelerating then you use the "resume" button to re-engage the set speed (if you switch the cruise control off before braking or accelerating the the cruise control will need "on" and "+" pressing again.
  21. Armrest For Fiesta Mk7

I keep wondering about getting a Boomerang armrest. I emailed Boomerang a few weeks ago and they mentioned that Amazon would be stocking the UK version "very soon" (so I wouldn't have to get one shipped from the US) but still no sign of it on the Amazon website. I'd like to see one fitted in a car before buying one though which might prove a little difficult - they all seem to sit over the top of the handbrake which is a bit of a concern. I have the front seats pushed all the way back so I'd actually prefer an armrest that is only about half the length of the Boomerang but I'm guessing there isn't anything like this available. I don't see the point in having to lift it up every time I need to apply or release the handbrake. It doesn't seem that much of an inconvenience *not* having an armrest so I'm finding it hard to justify the price of the Boomerang anyway.
  22. My New Fiesta!

Pads to stop the doors getting damaged while the car is being transported?
  23. Some Seriously Stupid Questions

Yes, if your phone is compatible. You can check here http://www.ford-mobile-connectivity.com/
  24. New Fiesta Mk7 Specs

Any word from Ford as to when (if?) the Powershift will be available in the UK?
  25. Most Common Problems?

Thanks for that info, I'll pop it back to the dealership if it becomes annoying. No huge rush to get it sorted. By the way, when I bought the car a couple of weeks ago the salesman assured me that it would have the remainder of the three years manufacturers warranty but one of the booklets that came with the car said that the standard Ford warranty is one year from registration and the additional two years were called "Ford Protect" (which I assume is a costed option?). Is there a way to find out how long the warranty is on the car or should I receive something from Ford shortly? The car came from a Ford dealership so I'm guessing all the paperwork takes a while? Just thought of another very minor problem - I've got a three door and the front passenger seat doesn't slide back if someone needs to get in the back seat (seen this on other cars though, possibly intentional?) And I get static electric shocks from the doors!
