Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Brake Fluid re-fill

Great, thanks! Haven't had a look, I'll check tomorrow but due for an MOT in about a month so will get a once over then anyway.
  2. Brake Fluid re-fill

Hi, Just checked my oil and noticed the brake fluid container hidden at the back under the windscreen was low. It's very close, if not on the Min line. Brakes, clutch etc still running/feeling fine and no lights! I've downloaded a Focus manual but not 100% its correct for the UK spec as it has a lot of US references. Does anyone know what type/level/grade of brake fluid I'll need for a 06 plate MK2 1.6 petrol Focus LX. Thanks!
  3. 6000Cd Mk2 Aux Connection

What's the best/simplest way to take out one of the blank cover plates?
  4. MK2 revs

    Sorry, typo. 3,200 RPM
  5. MK2 revs

Hi, I've recently got a MK2 1.6 LX and I'm not sure if the revs are high or standard. When I'm in fifth doing 70 it's at 3,200 which is about 2-300 more than my old 1.6 MK1 Zetec did. Is this at the right level or does it need adjusting?
  6. 6000Cd Mk2 Aux Connection

Thanks for that. Is there a panel/plate with just a aux input so I can put the aux into the back and then plug in via the panel? Can only see Aux and USB combos. Or can I use that without any USB plug in required?
  7. MK2 centre cover

Hi, Got a MK2 a few days ago and haven't yet found anything to get this cover open. It's an LX model. Does anyone know whats in there? If it's worth opening? A second cig lighter would be ideal like the MK1. Not seen anything online or in the handbook but don't know what search term to be using! Thanks!
  8. 6000Cd Mk2 Aux Connection

Hi, I know this thread is old but just got a MK2 and looking at adding a aux from my CD6000. Does anyone know the part number for a cover plate with an aux input to replace one of my blank covers, next to the rear window button? Rather than plugging into a loose cable. Thanks!
  9. MK1 central locking

I'll try the battery tomorrow. Radio code in hand!
  10. MK1 central locking

Hi all, A couple of mornings ago I tried unlocking my car with the remote button and nothing happened. Tired a few times and then it finally unlocked (thought the fob battery might be running low). Got to work and it locked fine. Fast forward to the next evening (yesterday) and when I went to lock the car it would automatically unlock itself. (Was over 30C here yesterday - linked?). Then move forward to this morning and it stays locked when I press the fob, all apart from the drivers door. Same when I unlock. I have to put the key in for the drivers door, which doesn't do the other 3 doors. Some random events over the last 3 days. Not sure if there's something linking all of these or what. Ideas? I'm thinking of disconnecting the battery and resetting the car this weekend. Is that worth while or completely useless for the above? Thanks in advance!
  11. MK1 - Heavy steering and pedals

Thinking about it, would a slightly sticky brake cause something like this? I had sticky brakes before and replaced the pads, discs etc (no heavy steering from what I remember, though).
  12. MK1 - Heavy steering and pedals

In that case it maybe just a me being paranoid. I can't feel anything by the pedals, seems as clear as normal.
  13. Hi all, As of yesterday the steering in my MK1 Focus seems to have got a a bit heavier. I'm not having to put much effort into turning, pretty much the same as usual but there's definitely a weight on it. Also, the pedals seem to feel heavy as well. Not sure if that's the correct way of mentioning it but they seem harder than usual. I checked my power steering fluid level, that's right at the top. The car still drives in a straight line and breaks in a straight line. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
  14. Flashing odometer

I did a dash test yesterday (while idling) and couldn't see anything out of the ordinary. No DTC codes etc. A couple of years ago I did have a cluster issue with the needles but WD40 worked a treat since. Do you think it may need re-doing? I'll get the battery checked in a day or two when possible and check any connections.
  15. Flashing odometer

Did it match all of the above? And did you have a battery check before changing?
