Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Sot Lead For Visteon/denso Sat Nav Head Unit.

Just thought Eifion, do you mean the aux 3.5mm jack plug (small headphone plug)..? If so and you don't already have 1 fitted, you can buy a lead that plugs into the quicklock connector that goes into the back of the unit. If there's already an aux 3.5mm lead fitted, the connector for this will have to be swapped from the original quicklock connector to the quicklock connector on the sot lead as this will be the 1 that plugs into the back of the head unit. From memory, I think it's a white rectangular connector in the corner of the quicklock connector, you'll see the empty space in the new quicklock connector on the sot lead. Hope this helps.
  2. Sot Lead For Visteon/denso Sat Nav Head Unit.

Hi.Yes, lead was correct and all worked fine :-) Quite a tight fit getting the connectors behind/below the unit as not much room, had to feed them in carefully. Hope this helps :-) Cheers, Ian.
  3. Sot Lead For Visteon/denso Sat Nav Head Unit.

Thanks :-) I was wondering what the letter on the end of the 092 denoted & now see that it allows the steering wheel controls to continue working. Cheers for the help guys.
  4. Sot Lead For Visteon/denso Sat Nav Head Unit.

Thanks Dal, that's great :-) Looks like its the quadlock connector. The link seems to be for a connector to fit an aftermarket headunit but plenty of sot leads on ebay. Thanks again for your help.
  5. Hi. I'm fitting a bluetooth Parrot kit to my Dads '04 Mondeo Ghia with the following head unit in it, anyone know which adaptor lead (SOT Lead) I require or have a picture of the connector(s)..? I've had a look on the net but can't find anything definite & he lives about an hour away so trying to avoid a drive over just to take the unit out & check which connector type it is. Any help much appreciated :-) Thanks, Ian.
  6. Focus 2005 Remote Keyfob Fault

Hi Alan. Thanks for your replies. I've got radio code so no worries there :) Do I need to turn ignition on while the battery is disconnected..? I wouldn't have thought it's recommended to re-connect battry with ignition on in case of a voltage surge or spike..?? I may have to take it to the dealer if I can't resolve it.
  7. Focus 2005 Remote Keyfob Fault

Hi Alan. Thanks for the info, very interesting & handy to know that replacement fobs are available :) I wouldn't have thought it is the fob as it works everytime until the ignition is switched on & I don't think the ignition will affect the fob - although I'm not 100% certain & stand to be corrected. I rang BBA Reman today to see if they had any info about the GEM, they don't do replacements at present & didn't have any info. Found some more info here & going to have a look round the fusebox area & check all the connections as soon as I get the chance: http://passionford.com/forum/ford-focus-rs/322061-gem-wont-go-into-learning-mode.html Not holding out much hope though as disconnecting & re-connecting the battery & turning ignition on doesn't really point to a bad connection but prob worth a look.
  8. Focus 2005 Remote Keyfob Fault

Hi. Thanks for the reply Nigel. Is it a case of replacement or can they be reprogrammed..?
  9. Focus 2005 Remote Keyfob Fault

Hi. Just joined the club & this is my 1st post :) I've got a 2005 (new shape) Focus Zetec with a fault. The keyfob stopped operating the central locking but works ok using the key (locks & unlocks all doors & boot from drivers door). I replaced keyfob battery & checked all fuses, all ok but still not working. Also no DTC's stored. I decided to disconnect the battery to see if it would reset & on re-connecting battery, all buttons work fine on the keyfob until the ignition is turned on then it ceases to work again. If the battery is disconnected & re-connected, same again - all working fine until ignition turned on. Anyone got any ideas what may be causing this..? Thanks, Ian.
