Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Tyre's appear to loose grip on full lock

Also check front wishbone outer balljoints. That's what it was on mine
  2. retrofit folding mirrors to early(ish) mk2

Brilliant guys! Stoney871 - That's the schematics I used to start, but was having trouble as my car's too early for them. JW1982 - Superb. That's just the job
  3. retrofit folding mirrors to early(ish) mk2

JW1982 - Many thanks, I have been on an exponential learning curve ;) I have established which wire does what, and have ordered myself a Mondeo powerfold/hold relay and holder. I'll wire up powerfold as a separate thing, hopefully triggering the relay from a Focus 2-way ISS/ mirror fold switch, pin 3 It would be beneficial if I could locate a schematic for the earliest mk2, as the wiring colours and orientation are different between mk2 and 2.5
  4. retrofit folding mirrors to early(ish) mk2

my car has this type fitted. Blue mirror loom goes to the socket on its own. Black door loom goes to the larger of the side-by-side pair. My existing wiring from armrest window switch panel goes to a beige connector, plugged in to the socket nearest the end of the motor. Can this unit be formatted for powerfold/indicator/puddle light mirrors?
  5. My car is a 2006 mk2 ghia estate (with no blinkin blue tooth either!) I bought a pair of late style door mirrors, powerfold, puddle lights and indicators. I bought a pair of door looms with 8 wire mirror connectors. These fit the mirrors perfectly, but are different to the car's existing wiring. Car has 5 wires in a dedicated loom going to the blue connector on the door module... but.. I stripped the 8 wire loom from the replacement, and the blue connector also has the 3 wires for the later door switch.(no probs, I thought as it's not connecting to anything) Existing loom has a load of wires going to a 3rd beige connector on the door module. Any advice appreciated. e.g. Mirror X-Y does not work when I tried a trial fit. Do I have to activate anything before I even try it?
  6. Where Can I Get.......?

Resurrecting an old thread.... I need one of these for Carmel's saloon, so quoted the part no at my local dealer. He was astonished to find that it has gone up in the last 6 weeks from £46.00 to.... £114.00 I'll fix the existing loom , then.
  7. Ford Focus Mk2 Common Problems Thread

3 years ago my wipers just 'stopped' mid sweep, and wouldn't move. 2 wiper motors, a 2nd hand fusebox/gem and 3 weeks of auto-electric work later, we were no further forward. It too turned out to be water ingress. I was a big £300 & vat for a new one, then the cost of programming. Touch wood, no probs since.
  8. Focus Rear Brake Piston Rewind

They're all right hand wind to retract. On a mk1 you have to be pushing them inward at the same time as winding them.
  9. Front Wiper Stopped Working

If I knew then what I know now, I would've bought a 2nd hand fusebox and the modified elm32 cable. Mine was £320, and a Ford mechanic coded it for me as a favour
  10. Front Wiper Stopped Working

    Fusebox. Water ingress.
  11. In A Dillema About Ball Joints Or Full Wishbone

I got o.e. complete arms (FAI, I think) from my local factor around £45 each, and that was much easier than changing either the ball joints or the rear bushes. If it's the rear bushes, then the arms have to come off the car anyway. 1st one took about 35 mins, 2nd one took 15.
  12. Rear Arm Bush Tool

Does anyone on here have a tool for the 'butterfly' bushes at the front of the rear control arm/hub carrier arm on a mk2? (mk1 same bush) I don't really want to fork out £140 for something I'll use only once :( my other thought was - buy 1, then sell it on at say £100 on the provision that buyer uses it then sells it on at say £60 and so on
  13. Left Front Brake Disc Warping.

I'm having this exact same problem. I replaced the discs and pads all round when I got the car 2 years ago, but the judder/wobble returns within about 10k miles. I might try the guide pin test but... I also think that there a bit of a 'lip' on the caliper carrier where the pads go. Is it ok to grind it smooth again? I also think that the pads are not coming off the disc all the time
  14. 1.8 Tdci Focus 2004 Starting Problem

Your symptoms are exactly the same as Carmel's saloon last year. It had been a pig to start for ages, lots of cranking, then would start and cut out a couple of times. I changed the battery, then the starter motor, just to try and start with a strong system, as there was a lot of early starts for work. I was changing the sump and giving it a service one day and clutching at straws (not really consistent with the symptoms) I changed the crank sensor. It fired instantly and has done so ever since!
