Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Can anyone help with this. My 1996 Fiesta 1.3LS has not been used for about 4 months. Went to start it and battery flat (no surprise). Charged battery, and starter whirrs but does not engage. Any ideas? Is the engagement gear stuck? Can it be easily freed if so? I'm a newbie, and don't know where to start. John
  2. Non Starter

I have a similar problem with 1997 1.3LS, due to the fuel pump operating intermittently at start up. How to tell? With radio off and in as quiet a spot as possible, turn on the ignition, BUT NOT TO TURN OVER THE ENGINE. You should hear the faint click of a relay operating, followed immediately by the 'buzz' of the fuel pump for about 1 second. With my fiesta, if that happens, it starts first time. If the relay clicks but is not followed by the buzz of the fuel pump, then it will not start however long I try for. Go back to it a few hours later and it starts! What I have noticed is the problem is more frequent when it's cold. Cheers John
