Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Mk2 - P0359 Coil Faut!

Hi gents n ladies, I heard a hissing noise on the car this evening when I started it and was cold, was laud at first then dampened down the noise but I could still hear it... Went home and plugged it in and given me the following fault code: P0359 - Ignition coil I primary/secondary circuit. I had a read in this link to see how bad it is: http://www.obd-codes.com/p0359 and it doesn't seem that bad and can still drive my car for now. Just need some help on if it is a job that I can fix myself and what parts I need to do it?! If there is any guide that can help that will be great. Thank you and look forward to hear from you..
  2. Hi, Realised I got a hose split, can you please identify this part; part number & description please? Also where is the best place to shop focus genuine parts at reasonable prices? Seen many parts online but not sure how genuine are they! Thank you and appreciate a quick answer. Regards
  3. Focus 2005 Mk2 1.8Tdci With Egr Valve Fault!

Can someone help me please, thanks!
  4. Focus 2005 Mk2 1.8Tdci With Egr Valve Fault!

Hi people, I need your help, well I've ordered the stainless steel blanking plate an coming tomorrow so thought in the meantime I clean the egr valve with the wynn's egr cleaner! I bought it this afternoon and done it but when I have put the hose back on the egr outlet I've managed to snap the small tiny black pipe and sealed it with insulating tape for now! See photos attached!!! What is it? I think is an airflow sensor?! Going to blank the egr valve this weekend and in the meantime am wondering to change the broken pipe too if I can?! Your help is appreciated, thanks!
  5. Focus 2005 Mk2 1.8Tdci With Egr Valve Fault!

Cheers, just had a read through! Ordered a plate now to fit it this weekend! Will be following this guide here: [http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/42915-guide-fitting-egr-blanking-plate-16tdci-engine/] Relevant enough to my car?
  6. Hello to you focus enthusiasts, After owning a focus for over two years I can't classify myself as enthusiast anymore, more like frustrated of owning a money burner! Anyway basically got an EGR intermittent fault on the car and is making the car run rough at times! Plugged it in with my scanner and showed Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor Circuit Low and took it to the main dealer to check and verify the fault and they basically said complete EGR needs replacing and will cost me around £1,000! I'd rather get rid of my car for that and get a reliable one with a decent badge, but am going through my last year of uni so can't think straight at the minute and concentrate on that so am wondering if I or a back door garage can do something to solve it for less and make the car last me for another year until I free myself! Mind you I have already replaced the EGR valve two years ago but that was covered by the warranty from the car dealer and talking to the Ford mechanic he said it is a re-occuirng fault on the TDCI engine; GREAT!!! So my questions are: 1) Can I keep driving around with intermittent EGR fault on the car? 2) MOT is due in December, will an EGR fault will cause failure in the MOT on emmissions etc...? 3) Will cleaning the EGR valve solve the problem? If, yes is there a guide on here how to do it? 4) I leanrt that some poeple blank the EGR valve to bypass the problem! Do you recommend I do that? Will that affect car performance and the MOT? Is it expensive to do? Appreicate your help on this one people... Thanks in advance.
  7. Hey, Wonder if you can help me please? I have a Focus MK2 (2005) 1.8Tdci and had a limp mode issue with the car and got a P0670 Glow Plug Control Module Circuit Fault DTC and took it to Ford this morning and confirmed it is a glow plug failure and needs replacing and been quoted £200, ridiculous! Just shopping around to see which garage offers the best repair deal but in the meantime I know I'm an engineer and can do it myself but unfortunately not fully equipped with tools etc. but happy to do it if I can. Can you please guide me or let me know if there is a guide on here on how to change the glow plug set, what tools are required and perhaps where is the best place to buy these parts online? Also wondering if I can still drive it in limp mode until I get the parts delivered? Thanks and appreciate a quick response. Look forward to hear from you... 8. Hi, Wonder if you can help me, just want to know if it is something I can do to solve the below listed faults or I have to take the car to the garage for fixing. More concerned on the car misfiring problems! When car is idle: 1) P02D9FINED DTC 2) B1600 PATS Ignition Key transponder signal is not recieved 3) P0204 Injector Circuit/Open Cylinder 4 4) U0422FINED DTC 5) C1956 Steering angle sensor circuit failure When car engine is running: 6) P0100 Mass or Volume Air Flow A Circuit 7) P0200 Injector circuit 8) P0300 Random Misfire Detected. I've attached a screenshot of the errors listed above from the scan reader tool I used. Thanks. Scan Tool Snap Shot.zip
  9. Hi, Looking for some help here. Well I had a problem on my car last Friday while I was at work in the office the car seemed to come to life on it's own in the car park was a weird feeling. Basically the wipers and the lights started to work and dimmed as well without the key in the car. Anyway took it the garage and sorted all out because I needed it quickly fixed and found it was a lose connection in the fuse box and cleaned it and resealed the box and this quick fix costed me around £100 which quite frankly I could have done it in the weekend. So I have decided that jobs like these rather than giving the money to the garage I do it myself and with the spare money I treat my car with more accessories instead. So wondering what special tools I would require to work on my car, like torque screws etc. those tools that will not find in any standard tool kit and also looking to buy a farily good (not so epensive) diagnostic kit, maybe this one is any good?! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/120940619744?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 Thanks for reading and please help me from this rip off... Kind regards.
  10. Focus Mk2 Boot Hatch Noise And Needs Tighten-Up

Thanks Pal... Will do that after I'm back from holiday sunny MALTA :)... Wish me luck. Cheers.
  11. Hi, I've got a Focus MK2 (05 plate) 1.8tdci 5 door Titanium version. I noticed few things in the boot side on the car recently. First the boot gas-struts are not rigid enough and sometimes do not hold the boot open and tends to close by gravity. I think I need to replace the gas-struts to hold the boot in the upright position sturdy and secure! Is it a common Focus thing or you recommend replacing them? Any instructions on here please? Second is the boot catch is not securing the boot tight enough and when driving and driving on road bumps I keep hearing these squeaks and noices coming from back of the car and if I physically try to move the hatch door when locked i can feel it's not tighten securly. Do you have any instructions how to tighten the boot catch well and get rid of these noises please? Third, I noticed a leak in the side of the boot but I think that needs to be sealed properly with silicone. I had MOT done last month and some of the bulbs needed replacing on that side and I think when they fitted the rear light back they didn't make that well. Thanks and appreciate your help. Cheers.
  12. Thanks Clive, really appreciate your help... I'll give it a go and post a reply later. Yes I meant blind spot mirror... couldn't find the right terms. Another concern is that when is raining, it's really hard to use the wing mirrors as they hold the water. Is there any function in the car that could help this issue? Cheers...
  13. Hi Gents & Ladies, This weekend I managed to seal a deal for a 2005 Focus Titanium Diesel 1.8TDci, class and love the ride. Now being a Novice on this car and managed to buy the Haynes book to start with I need to understand a few things on the car: 1) Is this model the mk 2 or mk 2.5? 2) I have a problem on the wing mirrors as they seem offset and can't incline them inwards as the mirror motor doesn't go that far so thought you guys might have a guide to re-allign the wing mirrors? 3) On one of the mirrors I have a small lense mirror mounted on, and just wondering if you know a safe way to take it off without breaking the wing mirror? 4) Been told the car has the optional cruise control but I can't find it in the car? any help on that.... Thank you in advance and appreciate any help you could offer. Cheers...
