Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Zetec S Ecoboost 1.0

Thanks Mick78, your info was really useful, I know with the old zetec petrol it was 3500 at 70, however if the new 1 litre is 2500 at 70 mph thats probably enough for me to sway me to the petrol away from the diesel I own now, I am doing about 12000 miles a year mostly urban trips of 7 miles and the occasional longer journey. Having said that it is important to me for the car to be quiet at cruising speeds as well as economical on my daily run, I must admit I'm looking forward to my next new fiesta but I can't see the point of changing until its 2 years old so just 9 months to go LOL sounds like im expecting :)........ So what is your average MPG with the 1.0 125 bhp Zetec S
  2. Zetec S Ecoboost 1.0

Hi I've not been on here for ages now but I have the 1.6 TDCI (95) Zetec S from March 28th 2012 so had it 15 months now, all I can say its been a great car. Last week I drove from Sheffield to Eastbourne and went M1-M25-A22 and averaged 68 mpg doing 65-70 on the motorways and 50-60 on the A roads, when I got there filled up and had covered 268 miles and it cost just 21 pounds to re fill. I'm going to change it when it is 2 years old and although this 1.0 125bhp sounds great as I understand it will still be spinning at 3500 rpm at 70mph compared to the diesel 2500 rpm and I doubt it will have the relaxed feel of the diesel engine to drive, I can usually change at 1500 rpm and there is no need to be revving the engine all the time. Another thing is engine life, the stresses must be much greater to extract 125 bhp out of a 1.0 3 cylinder engine, where the diesel 1.6 engine is 95 bhp and 4 cylinder has to be more relaxed and on top of its job. Finally there is the economy, before I bought the 1.0 I would want to take it out on a test drive and compare it on the same route and like for like driving as the diesel, from what I've read on here up to now you guys are struggling to get 46 mpg on an average drive my diesel is returning 58 to 60 mpg, I know petrol is less expensive so that would bring the figures closer...... So share your thoughts with me on this please I'd appreciate it........ Thanks.
  3. Zetec S Ecoboost 1.0

Yeah I'm old too, in the 80's everything had a turbo model I have a Diesel 1.6 Zetec S at the mo so don't rev it that much, whats this new engine like do you need to vaporize it to get decent performance out of it and whats it do to the gallon cos I might look at getting one next :)
  4. Mk7 Fiesta Using Alot Of Fuel.

Hey is someone nicking the diesel out of your tank LOL, I know South Yorks and you said you lived near Rawmarsh :D
  5. Gutted About New Facelift

  6. 2012 Fiesta Facelift

Bet the 177BHP 1.6 ST will be awesome fun.
  7. Difference Between Sony Dab And Standard Strero

I think its a case of what you havn't had you won't miss, to me my music and radio sounds great on the standard blue tooth stereo and remember the blue tooth version has 6 speakers not two. It also works with skype and youtube :)
  8. Im In Trouble Now

Better than been on some other chat lines I could mention :)
  9. Voted RED but in the pics I think Blue looks best, just think red is more in keeping with the existing lights
  10. My Fiesta Titanium

Its really sad today that enthusiasts can't carry out even minor mods without risking a void on their insurance, unless there is a real increase in performance or handling characteristics in which case it would be fair.... All about making more money for the share holders I guess. :(
  11. Sound Settings

Hey don't forget Duran Duran and Kraftwerk lol
  12. Which Lights Are Better?

LOL, don't like either there too bright and hurt my eyes when someone with them is driving behind me at night!
  13. Why Is My Fuel Efficiency Getting Worse?

Hi everyone, I just got back from a 5 week driving holiday through France and Spain, my MPG varied from at worst 51 driving at 75-80 on the motorway to 71 MPG driving at 60 from Madrid to San Sebastian in Spain. I think the following things make some difference other than speed! a) wet/dry roads, there is more drag in the wet and its been a very wet year in the UK, and also in the wet there is alot more variance in speed. b ) The Diesel, using the higher octane for me adds 1.5 to 2 MPG and more on a smooth low speed run. So maybe cos its been really wet this year has brought averages down.
  14. Is 12000 Miles Too Far For An Oil Change

    Thanks for the help everyone
  15. Is 12000 Miles Too Far For An Oil Change

Thanks Nathan, was hoping that you would answer, its just all my previous cars needed a service at around 6k, well thats saved me money cos I was gonna get it changed out here. Just to cheer you guys up its about 30 C here on the Costa del Sol, and the fiesta has averaged over 61 MPG on the long drive down, although I am using the higher grade diesel as its only 1.35 Euros over here think thats about 1.13 pounds a liter seems as always we pay too much. Thanks again.......
