Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Bluefin for Fiesta ST - Still bad?

I've chipped/mapped a few but the ones that stick out are a cosy that ran 400bhp that covered 50/60k (head gasket did go, common problem back then) and currently a Leon TDi that's covered 80k without issues, all the others have only ever covered 20-30k, but all without fault. All of which were/are always warmed up, cooled down and with more oil changes than recommended and IMO run on a quality oil. I also know of a friends RS3 running over 450bhp on 35k and a TTRS on 80k both of which without problems, no idea of if they are warmed up but the oils changed regularly.
  2. Running in - really needed?

For me I just have to take a new car gently increasing the revs per 100 miles covered upto 500-600, and then thrash it, but never with a cold engine. I've heard engine assemble lines run engines in on forums, but when doing work at JLR I've yet to come across this process, must be time consuming if they do..
  3. Complaining to Ford

As said, from my experience its quicker putting a plate on retention if the V5 of the old vehicle is in a different name to that the new vehicle is been registered in, if in the same name then things are different..
  4. Complaining to Ford

I'm not defending the dealer but moving private plates from one car to another can take over 4 weeks if the two cars are not in the same name there again, all does depend on if the DVLA are busy and if Royal Mail are efficient, from my experience your better off, and normally its quicker to put you number on retention then reassign onto your new car when you have the V5 log book
  5. Varta for me to, get mine from batterymegastore online.
  6. Tyre recommendations

Might not necessary be overinflated, new tyres have less rubber in contact with the road when compared to worn and generally provide less feel, so will normally feel lighter..
  7. Bluefin for Fiesta ST - Still bad?

I've been using Superchips since the early 90's in many different makes and never had any issues, other than Mountune and Litchfeilds for me I'd not use anyone else. That said any map puts more stress on the turbo of which could cause problems after many miles, of which also apply's to other components..
  8. Foot Ache?

Oddly I started to suffer from similar, but not in a Focus, in a Leon, it never used to happen so either the seat has worn or I just can't get the seat in the correct place. Took me a year to get the seat right in an E30 BMW years back, but once I learnt how to get it right for me it was fine..
  9. Delivery Milage

I've had cars in the past that clearly have never had the PDI or road test, I'm going back some time but I guess nothing changed when the garage is busy. As for the miles shown on collection, I've seen cars come off the production line showing 999, 988. You really wouldn't want to see that on collection..
  10. Powershift box and 1.0ecoboost Engine

Been new to auto boxes, any obvious signs to look for to tell the difference when looking?
  11. Powershift box and 1.0ecoboost Engine

Yes we have driven one, if its a Torque Converter like you say its the quickest one I've experienced, but also has the feel of a DCT. The paper catalogue together with two local dealers have advised its a DCT powershift box..
  12. Powershift box and 1.0ecoboost Engine

Do you have a link indicating the type of box in the Mk8 as if they have ditched a 'proper' powershift (DCT) box (which has now become available in the Transit) for an old fashioned slow torque converter jurkamatic my mum will have to stick with her VW..
  13. I've done a search but had no results, maybe because the auto box is not that common yet for Ford. I'm currently running a Leon with the DSG box of which together with friends owning them has proved to be reliable, some now on 180k without any issues. I'd love to ditch my Leon for a Focus. Any reliability issues with the Powershift box and what millage is your on with any problems?
  14. Powershift Box..

  15. Cleaning / Detailing

Gummi Pflege for the window rubbers. For me Gtechniq products for tyres and plastic's. Auto Finesse isn't bad on plastic's but needs doing more often than Gtechniq's..
