Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Hi I have a 14 plate Fiesta Zetec S (I think this is the MK7 facelift?) and factory-fitted stereo/Sync set up. I wondered if it's possible to get an upgrade on the audio system for DAB and maybe touch screen functionality like the latest Corsa system, and also if anyone knows whether the latest Sync (is it Sync 3?) is available in the UK? Can UK Ford dealers install/upgrade Sync? Cheers Steve
  2. Mk7.5 Zetec S Badge / Upgrades

Appreciate the replies :) Ah, ok, didn't realise the new facelift didn't get badged. May get a metal badge to stick on to the front grill just to give it at least something to show what trim it is. Will check out the projects page as well, appreciate the tips :)
  3. Morning all, I've got two quick (and stupid) questions - I've had my MK7.5 Zetec S for a few days now and wondered: 1. Is the trim badged or debadged by default? I've seen Zetecs that are badged on other MK7.5s but my Zetec S is unbadged atm - is that normal for this trim? 2. What sort of entry/basic upgrades are recommended? Cheers Steve
  4. Non Start - Intermittent Problem Mk2.5

It's an RAC branded Exide battery they put in, think it's the R1-075. Looked for technical data but can't see if it's calcium. Is that a known problem, replacing calcium with something different?
  5. Non Start - Intermittent Problem Mk2.5

Thanks for the reply. Thought I'd post a quick update - took it in to the garage today and they ran Ford diagnostics and couldn't identify the fault... So, no joy - could happen again any time without warning. Will contact Ford and see what they have to say.
  6. Hi, called the RAC out today after having driven around all morning no probs but motor suddenly failed to start on the way home. RAC fixed the problem by disconnecting my battery and reconnecting it, but couldn't figure out the root cause and suggested I ask Ford. Thought I'd come here first :D It's an mk2.5 08 plate Focus and basically turning the key to ignition 2 doesn't start the engine. The oil and battery lights stay on. Underneath the bonnet there is a buzzing noise. Apparently this should stop after a couple of seconds but intermittently it stays on causing the problem. RAC wrote on the report: Non start. Not cranking. Batt volt 12.47. Tested good battery, buzzing noise from engine bay when keys removed. Carried out battery disconnect. Vehicle started fine. Suspect module lock up. Advise to garage for investigation. Oil level on. Does anyone know what might be causing this? Apparently it could have drained the battery I had replaced a couple of months ago as well but I may have caught it in time this time around...
  7. Paintwork Damaged

Thanks for the replies. Not looking especially good then if it's down to the primer :( If I take it to a local independent garage (Ford approved) do you have any kind of idea what price I'd be likely looking at for a paint job on this? Has anyone used ChipsAway before (I know it's franchise so depends on where you are and who you get as to how good it is, but any insight welcomed)?
  8. Paintwork Damaged

Came back home from work Friday night and discovered something had hit the side of my Focus. Looked far worse than it turned out to be at first: seems to have been a big tyre so probably lorry/truck etc squeezing past when they should have waited as there was like a film of rubber which I managed to rub off. However, underneath the paintwork is badly scuffed and scratched along the driver side wheel arch, and I have a long scratch on the driver's door. Bit of a dent as well in the wheel arch but nothing massive. I thought I'd try Autoglym paint restorer so bought some of that on Saturday, washed the car, dried it off, gave the paint restorer a go, and it did improve a bit but there's still a lot of scuffing/scratches left (finished it all off with a coat of the high gloss after I couldn't get any more improvement). Any ideas on what to do with this? Am I looking at a massively expensive respray job? Picture as attachment for an idea of how bad it is.
  9. Washer Problem (Mk2.5 2008 08 Plate)

Turns out the pump was shot so I had to get that replaced :( What's strange is that I changed the screen wash to Autoglym Ultimate (quick clear) about a week before the problems started, and at the same time I also refilled the parent's car with it - now theirs is having exactly the same problem.... :S
  10. Bumper Respray Vs Touchup

I managed to drive into a high kerb at a parking bay and have a smallintermittent scratch running along the very bottom of the front bumperof my MK2.5 focus. Took it in for a look and was told the existing paint job on the bumper was terrible (and I confirmed), covered with pit marks and grit so obviously done in a rush and not left to dry. Apparently some overspray as well but I couldn't see it. Was quoted £300 for a complete prep and respray for the bumper. Or, I could touch up the scratch myself. I'm not fussy but the idea has been to keep it as pristine as possible for resale. Any thoughts on what's best? Touch up or complete respray? Would a buyer inc. dealer/garage even know if it was a poor job to begin with? If I had the bumper resprayed wouldn't the rest of the paintwork then look different/worse in comparison?
  11. Washer Problem (Mk2.5 2008 08 Plate)

Ta for the replies. Glad I didn't go the whole hog with syphoning manually then in that case...! Still not having much luck with it. The rear washer isn't working at all. I read it could be that there's a leak somewhere in the piping but haven't spotted any wet patches inside. Also read it's a complete PITA to get at the pipe for the rear washer/jet so don't really want to fiddle around without knowing what I was doing. The motor does sound like it's straining a bit. Could it be under-use, e.g. could it have seized up or something?
  12. Car is an 08 plate MK2.5 focus. I noticed a few days ago that the front washers weren't pumping out screenwash as strongly as usual - it's more of a weak dribble!. Today I noticed that the rear washer isn't working at all. I've removed the front two washer heads and used a pin to check for blockage, and also detatched the connecting pipe and sucked this to check for a blockage in the pipe, and they're all fine. Haven't checked the rear washer head - not sure how I get to it or remove it. I can hear the pump working, and the wipers are working so I know it's not a fuse problem. But, does this sound like the pump is the problem? TIA
  13. It's a Focus Style so I don't have the ESP feature so seems like it could be the linkage then? I'll call the local garage and ask them to take a look - appreciate the heads up
  14. Driving a 2008 08 facelift Ford Focus. When I shift from 2nd to 3rd gear I occasionally hear a pinging sound from the gearbox as if a spring is suddenly clicking into place. Doesn't happen all the time. When it does, the gearstick becomes really loose in neutral and basically it becomes really difficult to find gears, e.g. from 2nd to 3rd, 3rd to 4th etc. Stays like this for a while when it does happen. Any ideas?!
  15. Hi, first post so very much a newbie. Am looking for some help on this one. Took my 1.6 2008 facelift Style into the dealership to look at part-ex for upgrade and they said there was a fault with the central locking. On the second press of the keyfob to lock the car, there is a high pitched squealing/whirring sound. I thought it was normal as it was there when I bought it but apparently not. Have tested it out at home and pinned it down to the rear driver-side passenger door. Does anyone know how this can be fixed and what the costs are likely to be? Is this a known fault? I had the car serviced twice by the same dealer (Nov 2010 and Nov 2011) and it was never mentioned. How long does it take for the fault to develop the sound as a symptom? Should the dealer have picked it up?
