    Which Focus to get?

How do Owen, I have a 2005 mk2 zetec 1.6 100 PS. There is an easy way to tell the difference between the 100 and the 115 with the bonnet open. Have a look at the left hand side of the engine, where the cam belt cover is. The 115 has variable valve timing and has two hydraulic valves, one for each cam, near to the cam belt cover just above the cam covers themselves. A 100 ps one has nothing there at all. Fuel consumption is OK. Mine seems awesome on 50 mph A road road work (I had nearly 50 mpg on a recent run) but not so good at motorway work, which I'm guessing is due to the fairly low geared nature of the gearbox. You need to rev it to get the most out of it. I tried a overtaking move not long after I had it and it nearly ended in tears because I didn't change down. Its not a torquey engine, thats for sure. A zetec with climate pack does have a fair bit of kit, enough to keep me happy anyway. Have a look at parkers guide to see what the standard kit is.

mk 2 focus drive belt tension

Your right Steve. Mine has developed a metallic "chirp" from cold with all the electric goodies on. I changed an alternator because of it. Anyway, they now use stretch belts on alternator and air con drives. The kit from Ford including 2 belts and the tools to fit is 50 odd quid plus vat
