Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Using The Spare Key When Alarm Is On

Got it solved. Maybe the UK cars have different alarm systems. Here in Estonia the cars came with the SPAL alarm, and the usermanual for this alarm had the instructions how to turn it off without the remote buttons on the key. So got the alarm disabled and I'm able to drive round town and go to the dealer to get a new key. Cheers for the help!
  2. Using The Spare Key When Alarm Is On

Just tried it. Doors opened with the secondary key and the engine started without any problems. But the alarm still was on. It stopped after 30seconds and as soon as I moved in the car, the sensors picked that up and the alarm started again. So looks like the backup key doesn't disable the alarm for some reason. Seems like I need to dig into the manuals then...
  3. Using The Spare Key When Alarm Is On

Great, thanks for the replies. I'll try to get the key in the ignition and turning asap after unlocking the doors then. Thanks again!
  4. Hi, I seem to have misplaced my original key with the remote. I have the factory spare key at hand, but was wondering if the alarm will also be disabled, when I unlock the doors with it? Just wanted to check if anyone has any experience with this before waking up half of the neighbourhood in my area. Cheers!
  5. Maintenance/checks Before European Trip

Thanks for the reply! I bought new tyres just last year, so I'll skip those I think. Especially, cause my yearly milage is fairly low and during winter I use winter tyres. So the summer tires have barely been used. I've booked a servicing at the end of May - hopefully everything will go smoothly then. @ben1191 - not sure what that it... :)
  6. Hi, Me and my mk2 1.6 Ti-VCT Focus estate are gonna embark on a 6000+km (that's 3729+miles for you brits) european roadtrip with some friends during June. I was wondering if I should visit the Ford service before that, to let them check the different fluid levels and if any wearable parts are close to their usable limit (brake disks, pads etc.). As this is a first trip of that size with my car, I was wondering if any of you forum users had some experiences what should I keep an eye on during the trip and what should I let the Ford service guys check before I leave. Any tips would be appreciated!
  7. Startup Trouble For 2005 Mk2 1.6 Ti-Vct

@artscot79 - thanks for the feedback. I tried listening the cam repositioning sound and noticed that after 1min I didn't hear anything. So that might be the problem. I'll get it to the dealer, mention the "lack of sound" and the startup problem and have them check it out. @Brigante - No more shaking than usual starting. At times when it starts the revs are below idle for a second and then they go up to 1100 rpm or thereabouts, as normal. No excessive shaking for the car nor the engine that I can tell.
  8. Hi, First post - having trouble with my Mk2 Focus: Owning a mk2 2005 1.6 Ti-VCT Focus Estate, the engine has recently developed troubles while starting. The engine starts to spin, but it just doesn't get going. At first it happened 1-2 times a week, then during a day. And now I have to start it 3-4 times before the engine properly starts. Doesn't matter if the car has been parked in the garage for the whole day and night, or if I just parked it for 5min and am starting it up again. A few times it starts immediately again, but lately that's rarely the case. Are there any suggestions, if there's something I could do in my own garage, check or swap something on the engine? I'm not that knowledgable when it comes to car-tech unfortunately... I will upload a video of the starting in a fewminutes, hopefully that helps. EDIT: Small video I recorded regarding this problem: http://youtu.be/eO7sUpFu22Q Thanks in advance!
