    Does cruise control saving petrol?

On motorways it definitely saved me did the speed limiter... I'll leave the reasoning for that to your imaginations 😂

    Things I Don't Like

It's brand new, with 38 miles miles on the clock - including my test drive lol Spoke to a mate in the dealers workshop and he said that if anything is likely to go wrong, it's likely the turbo or clutch - and it'll be within the first definitely within warranty lol It does have adblue - shame my Dad isn't still driving...he would have happily "borrowed" the odd litre or two 😂😂 As for the business - started in April with Clare and it's exactly how we want it for the minute - a hobby that can fund itself and maybe the occasional treat 😁

    Things I Don't Like

Sooo...Clare & I are looking at a van for our little business (printing stuff like mugs, vinyl for clothing and vinyl stickers). Using the insurance payout as a deposit. We're looking at 6-seat crew vans. And we've found almost the perfect teensy-tiny-ickle problem... It's a Vivaro. Only a 1.6, but it shifts well enough, is comfy, handles well for a vehicle of its size (L2H1) and is very competitively priced. But it's a Vauxhall... Gahh! I dunno..I hate myself for looking at Vauxhall...but it ticks so many boxes... The consolation I can find: it's a "eurobox" van, so not really a true Vauxhall...and it's not a stupidly named as half their car range (Mokka? Adam? Grandland? Eh?!)

Pure stupidity and incompetence. One of my qualifications needs re-validating. Told my appointer, he booked me on a course...turns out it was the wrong course. Soo...joined ship a couple of weeks ago, it got picked up and they tried to organise for me to attend a course. Last week, the ship was up in Loch Striven - so the ship requested a course over in Glasgow. The office turned around and said if I did this course, then I'd have to go on leave and be put to the bottom of the list for appointing again. They booked me on a course this next Glasgow...the ship is in Plymouth. So, I've been sent home to go on the course and rejoin again next week. ...I need a new job...

Things I Don't Like is a Cat B write-off 😭 And to top it favourite mug broke! Made a coffee, heard a "plink" and coffee started pouring out of the side! It's only about 10 years old! Poundland special!!

Things I Don't Like don't float... Got caught in a flash flood on Saturday. Driving through a puddle about 3" deep when all of a sudden the water started surging up through the drains - it was a foot deep in mere seconds! Pillock in a 4x4 cones screaming through in the opposite direction - car in front of me slows right down, so did I - just in time for a ma-hoo-sive wave to come crashing down over the bonnet. The air filter is p-ee wet through, the electrics have gone nuts and there's the obvious - the cabin resembles a swimming pool and stinks!

    Things I Don't Like

In my defence...I was half blind at the time of typing I ended up going to A&E at about half-1 Sunday morning after I suddenly woke up near enough screaming in pain! I can be a bit of a ***** when it comes to pain - but this was something else! Triage saw me within 15 minutes, tried to take blood and wiggled the which point my blood pressure suddenly plummeted...finally left at about half 4 with some antibiotic ointment for my eye and my dear, dear partner ripping the urine out of me 🤣🤣

I swear my dog has it in for me!! Last week, as we were getting to the end of her walk, I called her back to put her on the lead. Couldn't see her as she was in shadow. Firsr thing I see of her is her white, fluffy chest flying through the air, paws outstretched...a split second later, I'm writhing in agony cupping my nads as she stands there looking quite pleased with herself! Then last night, playing with her in the loving room and she lunged forward at me - I took her nose straight to my eye. Which today, is very sore and a bit swollen. Good job I love the fuzzy git!

    1.6 Petrol CMAX Cat

Has anybody done a DIY replacement of the mani-cat on the 1.6 petrol? Managed to get the old one out...just...but can't seem to quite get the new one in. I really don't fancy dropping the whole front subframe to do it... Any advice on best way to tackle it?? The missus would be quite happy to have pipes coming straight up out of the bonnet...she's a nutjob...
  10. ...and it works oh so well...I never have to pull over and shut my boot because I've pressed the button with the keys in my pocket...

    Things I Do Like

Good news for Clare - she rang up North Wales Police, not having heard anything for a while... Lady on the phone apologised profusely - apparently a letter was sent out on the 9th April. The car that was snapped was nothing like a black idea what it was, don't really care - Clare's in the clear! NWP are now "liaising" with the DVLA - they reckon it's a mistake on their end with issuing a plate they shouldn't have...but we can keep Clare's private plate!! We also had a general discussion about where we can take our business - at the moment, we're doing customised printing (mugs, vinyl t-shirts/stickers etc) and we're looking at doing a few shows - she'd like to revive her old photography business, under the LaloëCraft umbrella...she reckons we could make a killing - she was before, but unfortunately her health took a turn after the birth of her daughter, so she gave it up. This lead to me jokingly saying we should trade both cars in against a van...which she ummed & ahhed over until I said she was allowed to sticker bomb it I'll give it a few months before I suggest it again...get the house bought first lol

    Intermittent Faults

So the Other Half has a bit of a problem with her CMAX - it's an '06 plate 1.6 petrol - which despite being a bit gutless (especially compared to my Mondeo lol) hasn't been too bad...until now... The car has started sporadically going into limp mode - but only on it's first run of the day, also known as "The School Run" and "Pretty inconvenient" I've plugged in the ol' ELM cable and scanned using FORScan and come up with a few error codes across several modules. All point towards CAN Communication errors (ABS, PCM modules are the two main errors causing concern). Really, I'm after a few opinions... My thoughts so far: Clare might be a terrible driver (you can guess what the reaction to that suggestion hurts...) Is it a problem with a cold car? (more likely due to settling of components) I'm looking towards connectors/plugs to be the problem... Loose connections or damp in the plugs Only thing is, I'm not 100% sure where the plugs may be...any hints on where to look or further ideas would be gratefully received (especially seeing as she's now driving my car...) (If I'm slow replying to any posts on here, it's because I was caught writing the terrible driver bit, and I'm probably likely to end up in a coma lol)

    Blower Resistor

The later one's (2006 Fusion and a 2008 Fiesta) it's located behind the centre console, screw pointing to the drivers side, and for a rather large chap like myself - it's an absolute ***** to reach. There's a photo of me somewhere upside down in the drivers seat because it was the only way I could get my head in to see

    Things I Do Like

So, my laptop decided to stop working over the weekend...resulting in me needing to rather quickly purchase a new one. Admittedly, an expense I really could have done without! But hey ho. It's a nice machine - my first Lenovo! Decided to go for an AMD chip this time. Primarily because of its improved onboard graphics that can work in tandem with the graphics card. So far, it's making a big difference in photo editing! Anyway...after spending 7 hours doing updates, I managed to get around to re-installing my printers etc. Few teething problems with those, tomorrow is another day. I've also checked the vinyl plotter works. I may have decided to add a vinyl sticker to the lid of my new machine...

Not on a Ka, but I have on a Fiesta and a Fusion. It is an absolute git to reach!

Eggcellent! You must be eggstatic! It's truly eggstrodinary. Another feather for your cap. You really are clucky to have them - just don't put them all in one basket. And whatever you do - be careful crossing the road!! I'm sorry (not really)...I'll stop cracking the egg yolks.

Soo...umm...I'm starting to believe I'm really an adult... Not only am I moaning about the quality of dishwasher tablets and checking my credit score (considerably better than I thought it would be lol) but I'm just starting the mortgage application process with Clare. Still need to knock the owner/landlord down a couple of grand...cheeky sod asked to buy our caravan and then adds £2500 onto his asking price!! It's fine - he's near enough family - we'll beat him down He's debated selling for a while - but he's still emotionally attached to the house...he grew up here with his grandparents, and really struggled after they died. At long last he's managed to let go - but he'll only sell to us, which makes the whole haggling thing all the more amusing. I'll get Clare to give him a ring tomorrow and call him a knob lol (To be fair, we are being a bit cheeky with our initial offer ) Sooo yeah...growing up...being an adult. Next step pipe & slippers, moaning about the youth of today, comparing things to "back in my day" etc etc Also...puppy...she always brings a smile to my face!!

    First diesel car

6l/100km is about 47mpg - not bad... The increase in consumption could be due to a DPF regeneration, or just as a result of a heavy right foot. I tend to ignore the instant fuel consumption - either use the average one or do it the old fashioned way (miles between fill ups and the amount of fuel you put in and a calculator lol). Driving shouldn't be all that different to a petrol - you may notice a difference in performance over all. They also don't rev as high as petrol engines. I know my 70mph rev-reading is the same as my partners 40mph (6-speed diesel vs 5-speed petrol). I can only guess what speed 3500rpm in my diesel gives (I'd guess somewhere around the 110mph mark?). No idea what the turbo is like on the 1.6, but I know the 2.0 has a bit - but you soon get used to it (to be fair, the thousand tonnes of crap in the boot probably don't help ). Just because it's a diesel doesn't mean you can't have fun! I recently took a trip up to Scotland and satnav took me across some awesome back roads! For a diesel, the Mondeo was brilliant - a nice little burble from the exhaust, fantastic handling considering the lump up front and the fact it's an estate and keep the revs up and the turbo spinning and you can quickly regain speed out of bends). I love my dirty diesel!! Bonus: it pulls like a train! Had an 1100kg caravan on the back in the Lake District - at no point was I holding anyone up!! (Save for the fact I was limited to 50mph on NSL roads lol) Best link to use: This 'ere forum has saved me a lot of time, effort & money. But it's also cost me time, effort & money once I discovered the joys of tinkering lol

    Things I Don't Like

Not that I know of. The previous owner had a private plate on it, he then swapped that to his van and I believe it was the original reg that was put back on it. I have the old plates somewhere in the back of the shed...
