      it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

    Thanks Andy, I will have a look at the AF angle. The dealership tuned the radio so a delve into the manual may be required. As far as regional frequencies are concerned, this is happening during local driving so that shouldn't come into it but if the frequency is drifting because AF isn't on then that could be it!   2. '09 Plate Zetec - Radio Trouble

    Thanks Guys, As it stands the dealership haven't seen it but they have asked me to let them know if it plays silly buggers again. My main concern was to let them know about it before my 3 month warranty for a second hand car expired as I appreciate these things can get expensive. As they've told me that they will sort it out free of charge if it crops up again then I feel reasonably safe but I can see the logic of a dicky connection but it may be other than with the multi plug, maybe an in line connector somewhere? The thing that gets me though is that it happened virtually every morning for a few days and then its right as rain. Usual 'black arts' issue I suspect! It would have been nice if someone could have said it was the knurled flange bracket that need replacing then I could have told the dealers, but it seems to be not so simple! I'm enjoying 'normal' radio for the time being! Did you find that the radio can drift off its pre-sets? I listen to Radio 4 mainly (shows my age!) and sometimes I turn it on to hear a bad signal or crackling and I just press the pre-set button and its fine. Very strange, also an occasional loud buzz for a fraction of a second whilst someone is speaking - like interference. I'm not too worried, I just put it down to the character of my car and get on with it!! Cheers Simon
  3. '09 Plate Zetec - Radio Trouble

    My car has a standard Ford radio/CD player. A couple of weeks ago, with the radio off, I heard a 'bleep' and realised that the radio had the word 'Code' displayed along with the 4 dashes. I got home, found the code - I'd only had the car for a couple of months - keyed in the code and all was well. My first question is why did this happen? According to the handbook, the code only needs re-entering if the battery has been disconnected. It hadn't, in fact I was driving at around 40 mph when the Code message popped up! Okay I can live with these odd things but a day or so later it wanted the code re-entering again one morning and the same thing the next morning, and this continued for 3 or 4 days. I told the dealership where I had bought the car about it and, if it happens again, well I have told them within the warranty period so they have told me they will sort it out but does anyone know why this has happened? It sounds to me like an internal battery losing its charge overnight but I don't know if the unit has a battery and, in any case, the car battery is fine and the alarm/immobiliser is okay too so I can't think its a power supply issue. It's been okay now for at least a week and it was fine before it started! Really weird! Has this happened to anyone else? If so, what was the answer? Thanks Simon

    Thanks Mobily. Well I wasn't sure but if, like me, your car has a Hif Fi with a red and green telephone handset buttons then it probably does have Blue Tooth and you need to put your phone into Blue Tooth mode to see if it can detect your car. To be fair, mobile phones are bit of a black art but I fiddled about and got there! Thanks Gump321. So mines a Mk 2.5 is it? My neighbours have a Mk 1 so I didn't know there was one between mine and theirs! Is the Mk 3 the one Ford are selling now with the revised shape? Is there any listing of what the specs of the different models are? I gather mine is basic, but not too, and there are clearly more sporty or up market specs then. I suppose a Titanium is equivalent to a Ghia then and a Zetec is roughly a GL? Mind you, you certainly get a lot more for your money these days? One more question - and little gripe - Thank God for the heated front screen but is there a reason for the outer edges of the wiper swept area not to be heated? It's as though they thought the wipers were going to be shorter?!!!

    I've owned the car for a couple of months now and really like it! As with all things, when you change cars you immediately start seeing your variety all over the place! I used to drive Mk II and Mk III Escorts (my Mum's of course!) and I knew all of the different models within a design - L, GL, Ghia, XR - but I am a bit confused by the variations now! Can someone tell me where my Zetec sits compared to other models and what 'extras' the others get? One other thing that got me is how the Handbook tells you nothing at all about achieving a 'Bluetooth' connection. I did it be fiddling about - and its very strange when the car starts talking to you! - but diddly squat in the official Ford Tome! I wonder whether there's anything else about my car that I don't know about! One final thing, is the 'ashtray' sprung loaded door supposed to be damped in any way? I ask this because mine is like Arkwrights Till! Maybe it is 'correct' but other makes of car have nicely damped slow opening doors. I asked a Ford Dealership Parts Department man and his microfiche didn't show anything! Any info gratefully accepted! Thanks Simon
  6. Hi everyone, I recently acquired an '09 plate Focus 1.6 Zetec. My last Fords before that both belonged to my Mum, the first being KRK 705V , a Java green Mk II Escort 1.3 L which was superb and after that my Mum bought a Mk III Escort 1.3GL. , BRE 504Y which we kept until she retired and she then gave it to me because I was at work - on the condition that she could use it whenever she wanted to! (Seems reasonable). After that I bought a Rover 214 (very much like the Escort but with wood!) and, 9 years ago, a Daewoo Nubira. Don't laugh about that. It was an excellent car and tremendous value and, when we parted company last week, the bodywork was in far better nick than the last Escort. But anyway, now I have a Focus and I'm gradually finding out how it works. After 9 years with another car then there is a fair amount of electrikery to try to get used to - like for example, can I change the outside temperature from Fahrenheit to Centigrade? Surely I can but I haven't found the bit in the handbook that tells me how! My biggest question though is whether I can fit my cycle carrier onto the back of the car? I have an idea that the answer will be 'No' (which will be a pain) and I have no intention of putting a couple of mountain bikes on the roof! The carrier came from Halfords and was branded 'Paddy Hopkirk' back then but Halfords have an identical 3-bike carrier on sale now. It is held on with 6 straps and I suspect the problem will be the bottom pair because they have hooks which attached to the tow ring on my previous cars. I suspect there's nothing substantial below the tailgate lip to hang them off? But maybe you can tell me otherwise?
