And to be honest isn't that bad to insure so maybe not as bad as i thought !

I just saw the big difference in groups so presumed it would be expensive for a 1.6, i saw it was group 17 which is up there with my rs2000

The MPG had dropped on the display in my A4 1.9 diesel, It was about 45 average but now 41.5, If you floor it then normally it will knock 10 or 20 miles off instantly off the distance left and then if you take it easy it goes back up after a minute. so it's constantly fluctuating depending on how you drive at that particular moment. They are not very accurate most of the time . Lower MPG is expected with cold weather though

Nice looking cars, I had a good look round one in the showroom when they first came out and wanted one ! . The only drawback for me would be the extra insurance premium for a 1.6 petrol on these due to the performance extras

Yes I've spotted it now. I would have thought having that thread title as a section of the forum or one within each car section would be better, rather than everyone's piled into one thread? That way you can fnd what you are looking for and who's you want to read, just my opinion

Keep it well serviced and you should have few problems. that's all i can say really. a polished stainless manifold may help too but that's about it really without spending silly money which wouldn't be with spending on a 1.6

I had a 1.6 Zetec for 4 years, It's a brilliant engine. I would reccomend fitting a 1.8 throttle body and a performance panel filter, I like pipercross myself. I had mine on a dyno and had a 96bhp reading, the engine has 89 as standard, the car had 107k on the clock and a magnex back box at the time, I later fitted a full magnex stainless steel cat back exhaust which no doubt would have improved slightly. Make sure the throttle body is clean and polished on the plate and spindle, Ignore the instruction to not clean it, the difference in smoothness and response from the engine is fantastic. Don't bother with the air flow meter as it just confuses the engine and runs like a bag of nails, others say it works but I disagree. I would guess that their air flow meters were faulty and the car just thouight it was disconnected which will allow the car to appear to run ok.. The above mods which I did will see you right but you will never get major performance from this engine.
