Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  5. 1st service due and cost involved

when i collected my car the receptionist started to fill in the body check box in the service book and had to tipex it out, she told me that it was an extra £9.99 to have it done ,i suppose i had better get it done if it invalidates the warranty, what an expensive service , i wouldn't mind but it's only done 4200 miles.
  6. 1st service due and cost involved

my car has just had it's first service at hill's ford and the total cost was £193.45. this is how it breaksdown, labour £92.31 total parts £75.40 sub-total £168.21 vat £25.24 total £193.45 this includes £19.99 for a fuel optimiser & emissions service and £4.50 environmental disposal charge.

  9. hiya nipz, member zetec s had a similar problem (see his post dated 02/03/09). i have also had this whirring noise (terrible when you are in slow moving traffic, kept checking the rear view mirror in case there was an emergency vehicle approaching, next time you are in stop/start traffic turn your radio off and see) with mine turned out to be gearbox trouble, have had 5th gear and input shaft replaced and it's been o.k since.hope this is of some help, 60+
  10. hi, just to let you know that i have had my car repaired again and this time it seems o.k , i have done about 250 miles since the repair and the whirring has not returned. they replaced the input shaft and the 5th gear or was it the input shaft on 5th gear either way i am happy with the result. have you had any luck getting yours sorted. regards 60+
  11. Hi zetec s, don't know if you got my reply to your private message to me, but if you did, here as promised is the outcome so far of my last two visits to my local ford dealer, who i must say have been very helpful and pleasant, on tues 17th i took the car in for its 1500 mile courtesy service and while it was there they agreed to have another look to see if they could find the cause of the whine. They again got in touch with ford technical department who told them to try another type of oil in the gearbox, they did that but it made no difference. So my ford dealer decided that they would have the car in for 2 days, the 26th & 27th march, and they would drop the gearbox and see if there was anything obviously wrong. Well i picked the car today (27th) and they told me that the clutch release bearing was shot, so, they replaced it and put the gearbox back in.They started it up and did a short test drive and found that it did not make any difference, the noise is still there. They have again been in touch with ford technical and this time they have said that it could be something to do with 5th gear, they did say what but it went over my head, anyway they are going to order some parts and ring me when they arrive so that it can be booked in again. Will let you know once it's been in. 60+

  13. New Fiesta questions

oooops, forgot a bit, once you have re-programmed the unlocking function pressing the unlock button once on your keyfob deactivates the central locking or double locking, disarms the anti-theft alarm system and unlocks the drivers door. Pressing the unlock button twice within three seconds also unlocks the other doors. Hope you don't get offended, i'm sure you figured this out for yourself , but some might not have. any way glad to have been of help happy motoring. 60+
  14. New Fiesta questions

hello again, don't know if you're willing to try this, but, when i collected my car it had the previous models handbook in the glove box instead of the current one, any way after i replied to your post i decided to have a look through it, and it gives the following advice on how to re-programme the unlocking function,(page 28), so , in order to re-programme the function, press and hold the unlock and lock buttons simultaneously for at least four seconds with the ignition switched off. the direction indicators will flash twice to indicate that the unlocking function has been successfully re-programmed. pressing and holding both buttons simultaneously for at least four seconds again will change the function back. i just have tried this on my car and it does work, both ways. 60+
