  1. Hey we have some crappy speed awareness program going on with an estate agent where we live (Miles & Barr) which have road sign-like for-sale signs. My car picks them up as 100 signs. I think this might have triggered a switch to KMPH now from MPH since I had it set to flash if I was 5 mph over the speed limit and now it starts to flash at like 26 on a 30, and in the settings for it, it says 5kmph over, not MPH. Is there a way to change this? In the settings on the Ford Sync it is set to MPH, so is there a fuse or something I can unplug and plug back in to reset this? It's mildly infuriating.
  2. Yeah that what keeps me with Ford - the tech. Apparently this was a 'Ford Direct' car (Staff owned cheap). So they can sell it cheaper (Confirmed by my local Ford Dealer who I've dealt with before) and they normally tick all of the options which is what they appear to have done with this one. Cannot find a similar specced Focus for anywhere near the price so very happy. Coulda easily gone with another car maker but there is nothing out there with the same kind of spec for the same kind of price.. VW are the only ones that come close enough really and are still quite far off. EDIT: Also yeah the colour grew on me alot, looks a little different in person than in the pics, and it is one of the most expensive paints!
  3. What ecoboost engine do you have? I've heard of issues with the 1.5L that Ford have said is 'by design' but is clearly a fault.
  4. After 5 years of owning 2 of the new (old?) Fiestas, I bid a fond farewell to the 3 cylinder thrum. Having test driven the new-shape Fiesta I decided that the addition of the 6th gear (the car just felt too small moving into 6th! Elbows couldn't take it!) and the potential 3-month delay on new cars with the 140 engine, I've decided to go for a 2016 Focus ST-Line 1.5L 150PS instead, opting for the bigger space and marginally more power. Seriously considered an ST but for the ~6-8k miles I do a year I couldn't justify the costs. Thanks for your help over the years helping me decide the specs of my Fiestas, mechanically they've been a tank, not so much regarding the bodywork, of which the same issues appear to be there in the mk8 Fiesta :( Still unsure of my new cars colour (Iceburg Blue) but it has a ton of tech for a price I couldn't find anywhere else. Hoping I don't get the horriblely common rattle issue with the engine.. Specs include: Blindspot Detection Park Assist (So cool!) Sat Nav / DAB Front / Rear Parking Sensors Rear Parking Camera Rear Privacy Glass Auto folding mirrors Keyless Start (Never understood why they'd do keyless start without keyless entry, seems pointless but there you go!) Adaptive Cruise Control Active City Stop Lane Assist (keeps you in your lane? What do I actually need to do?) Pick it up Friday :D Only thing I'm missing is the EATC that I've been used to with the past 2 Fiestas..
  5. Sorry I missed this for a while... I've paid 50% off of the car as per last month. A guy from Ford said it was still in negative equity as of March but as I've paid 50%, I'm under the impression I can hand it back regardless of that? I'm fairly certain of that. An early termination on my credit score is mad. Credit Scores are a total pile of **** if I'm honest, designed to keep you in debt for as long as possible so you can continue to get shafted. I'd imagine once I'm ready to swap I'll get a loan approved and hopefully find a car I'd want before 'triggering' giving my car back so the credit score thing shouldn't matter. I'll stick part-worn tyres on there is that is the case or go for budgets as they're a lot cheaper. It isn't just to save money, it's to actually own a car (that won't depreciate like mad for the next 3-5 years and be virtually worthless at the end of it) so I eventually do not have to pay £200+ on car payments each month, as I now only do probably 600 miles a month instead of the 4000+ I was doing when I first got into the PCP endless cycle. I've paid off £4k of 'debt' within the past 6 months, the only outgoing that is classified as debt now is the car!!
  6. I have a Black Edition. You'll love it. The only thing I hate about my Fiesta is the shoddy build quality (Don't let anyone touch those bumpers). When I had my rear bumper resprayed after my neighbour kindly left his handbrake off one night the guy said the bumper is actually foobared and would need replacing, although he said Ford will never notice after he does a respray. This is because there is nothing behind the bumper to stop it flexing and breaking, most other cars have a cheap solution of some kind of foam behind the bumper. to cushion soft blows. I'm sure this is lining the pockets of Ford shareholders though. Oh and careful you don't scuff those lovely black wheels! Fortunately, I had them covered (and I've scuffed and had them repaired maybe 6 times in 2 years). The speed difference with the better ratios will have you wowing though if you've come from a 100/125PS. Even the later Fiestas are quickly looking dated now though with those screens and the new Fiesta coming out next year doesn't look to too enough to modernise it, but hey, they're cheap and come with a crazy amount of options for a decent price so you can't have everything :P Edit - It will definitely come with Sync if it's a Mk7.5 Zetec S Black Edition :) They come with the Sony stereos found in the Titaniums and will definitely 100% include Sync.
  7. I'm sure there are quite a few posts on here about this but I can't find any... I am currently 25 months in to a 36 month agreement on my Fiesta Zetec S Black Edition. I have a 9000 mile/year agreement and it currently sits on under 11000. I want to hand my car back in around July in order to buy another car, used, with a personal loan instead (Lower costs than what I am currently paying for a car already depreciated the most value). I have 2 (what Ford called 'major' in a recent service) scuffs to the 2 front tyre walls which I did not get repaired at the time. Ford quoted me for budget tyres, so I was wondering if I could get away with replacing the tyres with budget tyres when it comes to handing the car in as tyre wall damage is not reasonable wear and tear. I was even wondering if I should bother at all and take the charges (if any) when the car goes back and gets inspected. The mileage is grossly less than what was quoted (probably roughly 9000 less than quoted, even less when it comes to giving it back in a few months) so do you think there would even be an additional charge if I left them as-is? I know Ford like to take you for all you're worth so wasn't sure whether it was work risking it or not! At the very least I assume I won't need to cough up £100 each for 2 new Continentals (fitted) and can just get £50 budgets instead.. Any thoughts?
  8. Youche! Hopefully it's just the grille. But I would steer clear of Ford to repair it. I got mine done from where my local Ford garage do their bodywork anyway but went direct, cost me £160 for the grille, red surround (On my black edition zetec s) and labour to fit it (Not bad considering Ford Parts were selling just the grille for £80+VAT). If it's a new bumper, I'm so sorry.. :P
  9. Well they did assure me but I don't think I fancy the hassle of trying to get the money back, and I don't need another excuse to just keep paying for the car. The car is fine but I swear it's cursed, with 2 people hitting my rear bumper on 2 separate occasions, someone hit-and-running my front grille, the wind hitting the passenger seat door and snapping (thanks to the girlfriend..) and just generally being an expense!
  10. So I went to Ford to drop off my car for a service this morning (Basically to bend over and get shafted by Ford!..) and they offered their classic Ford Service Plan. They offered it as £21.60 a month for 22 payments. If I cancel I get the money back minus a small admin fee (They said around £17 but weren't sure?) and I get my current service for £213.50 instead of £254. I don't intend to keep my car for another year (New cars, it turns out, are more hassle and expense than they're worth) but I could get £40 off my current service and then when I give the car back in 3-4 months, get the money back minus the admin fee and still end up £20 better off. Ford being Ford though, I assume they are privvy to this though, has anybody done this and experienced issues, or do you think it'd work? To be honest I am so sick of Ford garages that any mini-win means a lot more than the £20 I would save, haha...
  11. Digging up an old thread, before I got the car I enquired and got the 'Zetec' and the 'S' badge free of charge (Didn't even mention it). Only put the S badge on the back, but now looking to get one for the front too :) From the back my Black Edition doesn't really look too much different so wanted the S Badge on the back :)
  12. I went from a 2013 Fiesta Titanium (100PS) to a more expensive 2015 Fiesta Zetec S (140PS) a month into my insurance. Before I got the car I inquired and it was about £50 more to insure (Changing in a month time). On the day before I picked up the car, I changed my insurance (for T+7Days) and it said it was £23.13 cheaper, weird! Might be because the car was actually registered at that point so picked up that it had rear parking sensors etc. but was a bit of a result. Was on £330 a year (Paid in full), was expecting £380 after, ended up at around £307, next year should be fun too :) My insurance starts in January and my birthday is in April, so next year (when I am 25), I might pay monthly for 3 months, cancel and then get new insurance when I am 25 if it'll save me any money. This is with a non-fault crash & compensation claim declared as well! Fortunate enough to not have any points though.
  13. Ah nice one guys! May not be as loud but I can hear it and it sounds great :) On a separate note, the power difference between the Black Edition and my last car (100ps) is phenomenal. The power seems to be there almost all of the time and needs gear shifting much less when some knob ahead is hovering between 25 and 28mph ahead..
  14. Am I making it up or when at high revs on the 140ps Zetec S Black, when changing gear I am hearing a 'whoosh' noise similar to the sound of a Subaru or something which my colleague says is the dump valve. I've heard elsewhere here that the Fiestas Turbo isn't powerful enough to produce any noticeable sound. Has anyone else noticed this 'whoosh' noise with the 140PS version? My MPG has severely dropped since I've started noticing it.. It's a really addictive sound when you grow up longing for that noise when a higher end car drives past :-P
  15. Got mine today, and given the 'S' badge for the back FOC. Might keep it just to the back, the front is already revealing enough, the back mostly looks like a standard black fiesta. Love it though! Bit tight at the moment on 11 miles but once it loosens up a bit I am sure the power will be there more. It has a lot more pull without the turbo, in 5th, 30mph/sub 30mph. Obviously won't do it often right now until the engine works in a bit.
