Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Worn Lock Or Key?

No the bonnet and fuel cap should only open with the correct cut key. For the cost of just a new horse shoe blade it's worth a try. Inside the remote sits the transponder chip which allows the car to start so that part doesn't need replacing. The problem with your drivers door not opening on the remote is a separate issue I believe.
  2. Worn Lock Or Key?

The key blade on your car is known as a "Tibbe" They often wear, any decent locksmith should be able to cut and supply you with a new horse shoe key which will clip into your remote. Not sure if many people know this but ANY Tibbe key will lock a Tibbe lock, only the correct cut key will open it. I've seen some Tibbe keys which are so worn that they are almost round but amazingly still work, but eventually will stop working in the lock and need replacing. If the key can't be read then the lock can be decoded with special pick and decoder. I have cut loads of Tibbe keys and the locks normally last well, it's the key that's normally the issue. It's a cheaper option to replace the key first and try that rather than go to replace the lock.
  3. The job went well, taking out the left hand headlight certainly helped, still tight to get to the bottom jubilee clip which attaches to the intercooler but got there in the end. I'm now back on full boost power again, thanks James for your help.
  4. 02 1.8 Cdi Not Much Turbo

My 1.8 TDCi 2006 spools up at 1500 revs. Sounds like there is something definitely wrong. I have blanked off my EGR which helps massively with low down boost.
  5. Thanks James, I'll be taking out the headlight as you advised. Will let you know how I get on when new hose arrives, ordered it earlier today.
  6. I have a small leak and whooshing sound from the lower intercooler pipe on my mk2 Focus 1.8tdci. The top one I replaced last year with a silicone one, took about 10 minutes. How much of a job is it to replace the lower one please ? If anyone has a guide or tips that would be great. This is what I'm going to order: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-Focus-1-8-TFCi-MK2-Lower-intercooler-turbo-NEW-silicone-hose-1374657-Black-/271853166667?hash=item3f4bb6204b Cheers Ian
  7. Mk2.5 2008 Ford Focus Radio Code

Ford radio codes are 99p on eBay. Looks like you need the serial number from the radio, so you need to pop it out.
  8. New Keys And Lazy Central Locking.

The blade on your key is a Ford Tibbe. You don't need to go to Ford, any half decent Autolocksmith will be able to decode and cut a new key for you, either remote or new plain key and then programme into your car a lot cheaper than Ford. No need for chassis reg number etc. I have cut and programmed loads of Tibbe keys in the past.
  9. Whoosing Noise, No Lack Of Power

This the one I purchased for my 06 Focus 1.8 TDCi http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111413770860?_trksid=p2060778.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  10. New Remote (2009) ?

On the Focus 2005 onwards, ALL new keys need to be programmed in by diagnostics. The facility to add your own keys is not available like it was on the earlier (mk1) Focus. (I'm a working Autolocksmith and run my own Focus 2006 as my private car)
  11. Hi Chris 1. When you connect to the car the software gives you options to "tick" box's to activate cruise control and save. 2. My original steering wheel was a 3 spoke design, luckily the 4 spoke wheel with CC fitted also came with the 4 spoke airbag. I followed the instructions from Haynes manual, taking the fuse out first as a precaution. I fiddled about a bit then suddenly got the Technique to release the spring catches holding the airbag in place. 3. Depending on which dash board you have !? Mine doesn't have a CC light, but the CC works perfectly. Most Focus do have the Light, my hand book shows the 2 different instrument clusters. Entering the "instrument cluster diagnostic mode" will confirm if you have the light there or not. TBH the hardest thing will be getting hold of the wheel.
  12. I did mine, got the software and correct 2 speed cable and activated on the car (06 1.8TDCi) You will need to source a correct steering wheel with cruise controls for a Focus 05>11 (Not a C-Max) Got mine from eBay for £100 I'm in N.Yorks, if you need any help with activating the cruise control on the car I may be able to help. I just followed the instructions on the thread and it works perfectly. One of the best things I've done.

  15. Egr Blank Fitted 1.8 Tdci 08 Plate

Well fitted EGR blanking plate for my 1.8 tdci Focus 2 days ago and all's good. No EML and car drives so much better and smoother lower down the rev range, highly recommended. This is the one I purchased, solid stainless no hole ! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141030719019?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
