      it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Hello, I have a 2004 Fiesta Finesse which has recently been showing signs of a faulty Slave Cylinder. I had the master cylinder replaced a few months ago when the clutch pedal dropped to the floor and would not return. I read about the clip that holds the rod in place with the pedal (it wasn't that). The car has been working ever since the Master Cylinder was changed and now I've lost all pressure my suspicions are that it was never the Master but the Slave. I recently bought a Vizibleed One Man Bleeding System from Halfords (£5.99) - http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&langId=-1&productId=204703_en_gb&catalogId=10151#tab3 and have had a bit of success but lost pressure again. I used a brick to press down the clutch pedal all the way to the floor, opened up the slave cylinder bleed screw (Non tool requiring switch looking thing?), watched fluid enter the Vizibleed carton, closed the valve once no more fluid & air came out, then depressed pedal and repeated. Can someone please tell me how to use this device correctly? I feel like I'm doing everything wrong... Here's the method I've used in bullet point format : 1. Press pedal all the way to the floor, hold with heavy brick 2. Open up bleed valve and wait till fluid stops coming out 3. Close Valve 4. Release pedal back to up position 5. Press pedal to floor, hold with heavy brick 6. Repeat number 2 Is this correct? Am I meant to keep the reservoir cap off or on? Should the end of the tube that goes into the Vizibleed carton be immersed in fluid (it has a a ball bearing at the bottom to stop air coming back up in the line)? I am so frustrated as I got pressure back and then lost it.... Any help would be greatly appreciated!! M
  2. Stiff Gear Changes, Low Biting Point

    It's not the LX but a 3 door Finesse? I haven't had the car long to notice a deterioration, more of a sudden change. This has just happened recently out of nowhere. I did smell some odd odors a week ago when driving around London after a few unexpected hill starts. It was like a burning metal smell. I'm guessing that's one of the cylinders? Would you be able to smell a slave cylinder getting hot or only a master cylinder? My suspicions are one of the cylinders as a local mechanic said the clutch wasn't slipping at all? Thanks for your help so far.
  3. Hello all, I am new to this forum and a complete car newb (recently passed my test and bought a bit of a nightmare car from a friend under impulse).. One day when driving back from a partner's house I couldn't get the car into any gear at all. Pushing the clutch pedal to the floor she wouldn't go into first, a 2 hour AA wait and miraculously as the gentlemen sat in my car it worked again. From that point there has been a significant difference in stiffness when changing gears. I have tried to research all possible issues (master or slave cylinder in need of changing, clutch wear, clutch fork etc etc) but would like some opinions from others. The car is a Ford Fiesta Finesse 2004 with 61K on the clock. I have no service history so no idea really how well the car has been maintained under the bonnet. She was driving fine when I purchased the car, gear changes were smooth also. P.S I have put a cable tie around the clutch pedal to make sure the rod is going into the master cylinder properly (known fault with these cars from my research). Any help would be much appreciated.. M
  4. Clutch/gearbox Problem?

    Had exactly the same problem with my 54 plate Fiesta Finesse (60k on the clock). There is a known fault with Fiesta's cylinder rod not connecting to the pedal correctly. A quick google search and you will see lots of people on different forums with the same problem. See here ---> http://www.rac.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?6261-56-Plate-Ford-Fiesta-Clutch-Gear-Problems http://www.rac.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?15596-fiesta-clutch-issue Ford dealerships should be able to provide a clip that will keep the pedal line with the master cylinder. Pop your head under the steering with some cable ties ready (and a torch) if there is a plastic cone to your right going into a cylinder. If it's not going into the cylinder when you press the clutch down use a cable tie to align them. Cable ties are just a quick fix, I'd recommend using a bolt through the clutch pedal (there should be a hole for one anyway) to keep things nice a secure. p.s I am not a mechanic so I'd expect someone will correct my terminology, I will post some pictures of mine if that helps. Will get the camera out tonight. M
