Hi all, I would appreciate any help I get on this one its driving me nuts. I will try to be as detailed as I can I know you are all thinking it’s a faulty EGR valve but let me explain. I brought a ford Mondeo 2006my 2.0 TDCI 130BHP for the missus yesterday. As soon as we get it home the orange light starts to flash with a small loss of power, not exactly limp home mode though!! I have had the fault codes read and the only one found by a friendly AA man is P0406 which I know points to the EGR valve. However I have changed the EGR valve for the one off my car (the same model) and tested it using the vacuum pipe directly from the brake servo while the old EGR valve was connected. So I know this works. I also fitted the old EGR valve off the new car to my car to see if the fault occurred and it did. So I thought hay presto problem fixed the new car was running fine no faults no light great. NO once the car cooled down the orange light came back on again. Reading the many forums and fantastic advice given my attention then went to the EGR solenoid which I tested with a multi meter and got a reading of between 12-13 ohms but just in case I also swapped it for mine just to get the new car working. After this took it for a test drive once the fault cleared (as I don’t have a reader took about 20 restarts) all was great again. Again NO once the car had cooled down the light came back on again with again a slight loss of power. Can anybody help this is driving me crazy I don’t want to take it to a garage as I am more than capable of changing out parts if I know what needs changing. Any help would be appreciated Thank you Jason
