Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  2. @wase16II Doesnt look good does it! When you unlock it there is no 'release of air' so the cap is definitely busted! Phoned Ford earlier - they have to order one in so just bought a universal one for now ..... hey presto - no more fumes! Thanks for your help!! Tracy Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC

  4. Jeebowhite .... not sure where they would be! The smell is def from the filler pipe region, nothing from engine compartment etc Tracy Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
  5. Wase - thanks for your advice! My fuel cap looks like theres something missing from it - its very stiff to lock and unlock! Called ford to order a new one but they suggested putting a but of vaseline inside the lock itself to loosen in mechanism inside! Tracy Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
  6. Cheers, I'll try the cap first - far cheaper than the pipes/hoses etc! Many thanks Tracy Tracy Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
  7. Will check those pipes (well, my uncle will haha). When I say 'wet' the pipe is completely dry but at the part where it bends to towards the tank the colour is darker and looks like the pipe is wet! Tracy Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
  8. Ps: it passed the MOT! Tracy Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
  9. I have an X-Reg Fiesta (yr 2000) petrol 1.3. Recently I have a strong petrol smell from the filler cap area of the car, the car is not losing fuel, nit using more fuel than normal. Had MOT today an asked the garage to really be thorough with the fuel lines etc. The filler neck pipe from the petrol cap to the tank was 'wet' at the elbow however the garage could not detect any leaks! The smell is strong, can only be smelled from by the filler cap, cant be detected from the rear of the car nor can it be detected from inside the car. Sender unit is secure, tank not leaking! Is it possible that this is just vapour? And why would I have only been able to smell petrol for the past couple of weeks and not beforehand. The only thing that has changed recently was having my rear suspension changed - wondering whether the pipe was damaged slightly during this repair etc! Cars hey!!!! Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Tracy Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
  10. This hose it attached to the oil filler cap and goes into the air box (i think thats what its called) ..... and its 'S' shaped!!
  11. Ford Fiesta 2001 Engine Misfire

Nothing at all! Will check the injectors tomorrow and report back what theyre like!
  12. Ford Fiesta 2001 Engine Misfire

Sounds like a burp, can just hear a slight change in the engine noise similar to the noise when revs drop
  13. Ford Fiesta 2001 Engine Misfire

You cant feel but you can hear it but very very intermittently and very slight ..... Sounds like a little low burp, but as I say its not all the time, not at regular intervals etc
  14. Ford Fiesta 2001 Engine Misfire

Its gone from a major misfire where I could feel it through the pedals and it sounded like I had a bag of spanners under the body to just an occasional splutter when at idle, barely noticeable. My uncle is gonna check the air intake and injectors but he doesn't have the machine to do compression test ...... He must be sick of the sight of me and my car haha Interesting to note that the ignition coil that was removed was NOT a Ford original, it looked like it was from a scrap yard so maybe this car has had this problem in the past with a previous owner
  15. Ford Fiesta 2001 Engine Misfire

Hi Mick plugs changed = misfire still present Leads changed = misfire still present Coil changed = misfire almost completely gone, very intermittently i can hear the slight misfire - not at regular intervals and only when the car is idling and only very slight! No misfire when car is bring driven!!
