Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Using Second Hand Abs Units?

Yes it is feasible, a lot of modern vehicles have the abs control module coded to the car. Sometimes the module can be recoded, others first need to be Virginised and then recoded to the car. Companies such as bba reman can Virginise some control modules allowing them to be recoded to the car with a main dealer diagnostic tool. I'm talking generally here as I don't have experience with ford ABS units. But in short, yes what the garage stated is feasible. Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
  2. Dpf Query And Advice Please

We see a lot of problems with non genuine DPF filters, we always advise only fitting genuine filters as some of the aftermarket filters available online are utter crap. If you have a diagnostic scanner or have a friend with one you can quickly check the sensors on live data and confirm if they are working correctly. In fact the 1.6 TDCI only has 2 sensors. 1 differential pressure sensor and one temp sensor. With ignition on and engine not running the differential pressure sensor should be reading around 0 mbar. The temp sensor value should increase as you rev the engine. Let me know if you require any more help. Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
  3. Engine System Fault

If you have a multimeter you could check resistance across the glow plugs to check if they have failed. From memory the focus will only put a warning light on when all four plugs are down or the relay has failed. Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
  4. So Who Has Done An Lpg Conversion For Ford Focus?

Hi Simon, just out of interest are any modifications normally done to the engine management system after the kits are installed. Or do the kits come with their own control module of some sort? Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
  5. Remap & Insurance Premiums

To be honest I'm surprised at how little the insurance companies want for declaring a remap. When you consider how much extra power a remap can give you, that extra £80 is quite good value for money. Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC

This is a simple fix. Feel free to get in contact with us. :-) Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
  7. Oil Leak

Hi markdon, are you sure it's oil? Could it be diesel? Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
  8. Leaving Car In Gear

Yep I agree, leaving it in gear is always a good idea. No over strain placed on the gearbox. Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC

  10. Standard Or Enhanced Diesel During Remap

Is the car sorted yet Michael?

  12. Standard Or Enhanced Diesel During Remap

Yes I can see how it must have been upsetting and frustrating for you. We've all been ripped off by a company at some point in our lives, not fun. Just for your own info, the 09 focus 1.6 TDCI has the same ECU and DPF solution as the earlier models, the only thing that makes them slightly trickier is the fact they sometimes don't like to be programmed through the obd port, therefore often the ECU needs to be removed and opened and then programmed with a BDM tool. Good luck. Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
  13. Engine Management

Hard to say without fault codes. But one possibility is now that the lambdas are working they have detected that the system is running too rich or too lean. You say the car runs lumpy? Could be a vacuum leak, check all vacuum hoses. A smoke test is the quickest and most reliable way to find vacuum leaks. Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
  14. Strange that the water pump failed. A remap wouldn't actually put the water pump under any more load. Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
  15. Dpf

Yep no reason why not, be worth deleting the EGR at the same time. Dpf and EGR seem to be the 2 big problems with diesel vehicles these days. Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
