Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. My Focus MP3

Spotless example, good history, only two owners in the same family and it goes well. Well chuffed with it! =D
  2. Centre Respray And Light Issue

Yeah thanks but I've tried the polarity loads of times. I have gotten the interior light working again just from removing the bulb and connections a few times. It must have been a bad connection. But the lighter bulb I still haven't got a clue, one minute it worked the next it didn't. Weird. Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
  3. Centre Respray And Light Issue

Well I was fitting LEDs for the centre and I just figured the LED for the lighter had broken in the fuss. So I put the bulb back and that didn't work either. The interior lights LED was new as well. But it may have gone but I just figured it hadn't as the lighters one didn't work either. I will check tomorrow though to be sure. Thanks for the replies btw guys! Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
  4. Centre Respray And Light Issue

Well the one for the interior light is new and when I added it the mirrors started working again as they're on the same circuit. But the light still doesn't and now the lighter bulb too. But the lighter socket works my charger still. Haha it's really baffled me! Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
  5. Ok so I was respraying my dashboards centre console and while I was at it, the interior light and elecy mirrors stopped working. So I changed the fuse which had blown, but now the interior light still doesn't work along with the cigarette lighter bulb now as well. But the mirrors do and all the fuses are now intact again =S Is there a relay that controls this lot that could have blown maybe? Here's the console though =) Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
  6. What's Your Pc Spec

Intel i5 3570K @ 4.2GHz CoolIT Vantage liquid cooler (push/pull fans), Asus Sabertooth Z77 motherboard, 8GB DDR3 Corsair Vengeance memory, SLi Asus GTX 560Ti CUII graphics cards, 120GB Corsair Force GS SSD (SATA3) 1TB Seagate Barracuda HDD (SATA3) Corsair TX 850w PSU, all wrapped up in a Cooler Master CM690 Nvidia Edition Plus 5 more red LED fans. With two Samsung T220 22" monitors. It's my other pride and joy! ;) Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
  7. Footwell Lights With A Twist

Oh ok righto, pretty simple. Thanks for the reply! Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
  8. Hey guys, so I've got some red LED strips that are normally for the outer door handles. But I want to put them in the footwells, as the mk1 focus handles wouldn't exactly be right for them. Does anyone know how they would need to be wired in order to work with the headlights? So they're like an ambient interior light. Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
  9. Ford Focus Mk1 Common Problems Thread

Oh don't get me wrong, I just got my 53 plate 1.8 MP3 with 88k miles on it and apart from one spot of rust at the bottom of the door and a twitchy throttle sensor (I think), it's otherwise immaculate inside and out and both these issues are easy to fix. Any car is as good as its been treated at the end of the day. So to those looking to purchase - just make sure you examine it hard and careful before you buy. MK1/1.5 are getting to be old cars now, not to say they are no longer superb, but the last thing you want is to get stuck with a 'dog' as it could be a total money pit! Find a good one though and you'll love it and spoil it like a child ;) Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
  10. Ford Focus Mk1 Common Problems Thread

Didn't the '99 focus models have the heated windscreen? I know my 97 mondeo did. I've always loved that about fords, heated screens are brilliant, blowers are always a pain. Ooh that's another fault to check on the Focus, the electric screens connections are close to the wiper arms under the black trim above the the bonnet. They often get damaged by moisture and pollen filter swaps etc. So if they don't work check and clean those Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
  11. Hey Everyone! New Guy Here...

Well maybe they thought cable was better as well, but decided to just keep up with the times. I still think cables better though. I mean if the throttle stops working, you know the cables snapped or the throttle body is jammed or something. With electronic throttle it could be down to god knows how many sensors! Why make it so difficult for themselves innit haha Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
  12. Hey Everyone! New Guy Here...

Ah yeah I've never thought of it like that, I always think that cable throttles are better as there's less to go wrong with the most essential part of the car, but I guess it would be slower fractionally. It's just that I used to have a 97 Mondeo Si and that was really crisp on the throttle so I would expect this to be the same surely, being 6 years newer and all Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC

Well the wheel size wouldn't make a difference really, apart from maybe a bit due to them being any wider. Because when the wheels are bigger the tyre profile is lower to keep the gear ratios in sync isn't it. But yes the width might effect it, that will also be what makes the steering a bit heavier I suppose. Yeah mine definitely pulls strongest in fist and second then a bit flatter in third till the revs build. Its suppose to do 0-60 in 10 ish seconds. But I was meaning the throttle response, like mine feels a little sluggish, I mean you can't blip the throttle and get a sharp rev. But that could just be the was the 1.8 engines are? I want to get the car running perfect before I start a bit of tuning see ;) haha. I've already got a blue K&N Apollo cold air induction kit for it and will hopefully get a stainless exhaust as well. Then maybe a remap but we'll see haha Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC

  15. Hey Everyone! New Guy Here...

Haha thanks yeah I love it, awesome 'little' car! I got it at a place in Caerphilly? It doesn't seem to do that thing with the gauges now as the battery terminals were really gunked up so I cleaned them and it hasn't done it since that I've noticed. Thanks for the tips on what to look out for though. My windows seem ok so far, haven't got round to fixing the mirror yet though haha. As for fuel economy, it does seem a bit thirsty but then I've been having a heavy foot loving the extra power. My last car was only a 1.4. I think I'm getting around that same figure as you still though so maybe yours does need a good service and a treat to some vpower/optimax fuel, for a tank or so to clear the lines. I haven't worked out the figures properly though as, as you know we don't have the luxury of an economy display. But I'm pretty sure it's better than that. How do you find the throttle on yours?
