Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Egr Blanked But Engine Doesn't Like It

What EGR blank kit do you guys recommend? - link please :) Apart from lower mpg, does it make any other difference? What about emissions levels when passing MOT? Must admit I'm underwhelmed by the mpg already, my knackered old (214k) 2.0 Astra DTi managed 520-550 miles every brimmed tank. The Focus' fuel light came on at 460 & so I refuelled at 475. Didn't fill up this time though, so don't know how many litres it took to refill. I guess this is a 52 litre tank?
  2. Focus Mk1 Starting Problems

Don't wanna hitch-hike your thread, but my 53 plate 1.8 TDCi has shown it's 'known cold start issue' a few times since buying 2 weeks back. Bit of smoke for about 2 seconds on start, but struggles to get fired up some chilly mornings. Once running she's fine, pulls & accelerates well, no other issues. The glow plug light on dash only comes on for a second at most even when frosty, so figure glow plugs may be shot - does that sound about right? Tds02 - I take it your 'running on 3 cylinders' thing sorts itself once running? I'm with Alz on testing your glowplugs though, sounds a good first step. That lack of oomph & 3 cylinder running would make me take to local garage tbh though. Wouldn't be driving it.
  3. Hi All

Welcome along Liam. I've only just joined having picked up a 2003 1.8 TDCi mate, loving it so far, though I'm not as fussed about tuning n stuff as you. Not sure about tuning guides, but there's a pile of Focus Guides in the section of the same name, hope you find something useful there. Jay.
  4. My First Ford !!

Thanks Dez & James :-) Drive is similar to the Pro_ceed tbh, bit more grunt from the diesel lump which is nice & handles very well. The Astra was a total shed, tho I didn't even like driving the 2013 Astra I hired a while back, so will avoid them totally. As for the glow plugs, hmm. I might get my local garage to replace as I'd not considered that could be a pain. Can anyone tell me where the ODB socket is on this thing?
  5. My First Ford !!

Hallo one & all, I picked up a 53 plate 4dr Focus 1.8 TDCi last Sunday, seems & looks like a crackin little car. She's not quite immaculate, but very clean & only 79k on the clock. Apparently has a 'cold start issue' which hasn't made itself known as yet (not been cold this week) and apart from both low beam lamps needing replaced (jeezus what a PITA that was) it's brilliant !! Wondering if a set of glow plugs might resolve that - any thoughts? With a lotta head scratching, swearing & generally getting angry I managed to replace both headlamps without removing the units (though YouTube suggested I should), but it was missing the retaining clip on drivers side lamp. I've just found that in the glove box so I don't need to buy one, but do need to fit the bugger which should be interesting :) Anyhoo, thought I'd pop in and say Halloo. Joined a few days ago, have mooched around the focus section a bit & want to upgrade speakers, replace headunit, eventually install a sub. As far as the car goes though, I'm a happy wee bunny!
  6. 6000 Cd Replacement Help

As your budget's tight, I can't help wondering if you need to spend £230 on a headunit, when something like this Pioneer has the similar spec: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B009KZ95QQ/ for £125. I know you said you're fussy looks wise, but maybe worth looking at Amazon for useful alternatives, often find better bargains on there than car audio dealers. Admittedly, your top link looks like a crackin unit and sounds like a good deal anyway :) The main thing I need to sort in my Mk1 is the audio. I'm sure the drivers door is way quieter than other 3 speakers, it's lacking the separate tweeters and the head unit has no USB MP3 support. Still, man's gotta have a project :)
