Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. 1. Demon Build - Escort Van

Hi thanks for the reply. Once all the body work is finished the van will get a full respray in a nice bright white (something like the audi's come in) The general these is black and what hence doing the wheels like. As for the rear lights I have never (nor has any other owner I know) seen after market rear lights for a van for some reason. I am building my own instead certainly one of a kind. Everything from the B pillar forward is the same as the cars so the side repeaters and headlights etc fit. I've got smoked side repeaters now fitted and looking for some black angel eye headlights for it. The power is going to be sorted soon. I want to build a zetec turbo for it with the base as a mondeo 2L engine. I've built a 1.8 in the past for an escort convertible. I'm currently boarding out in the back and going to wrap it in black carpet and start with the sound systems Two 12 Inch subs off its own amp, Three 6x9s down each side, each side running off its own amp. Custom fibreglass pods in the front doors with 3 speakers in each door again each door off its own amp. Up to know it's been a lot of work but well worth it. I understand it won't be everyone's cup of tea but it'd completely different to the usually cossie rep which is what I wanted I could easily go out and buy a cossie kit but I didn't want to do something that's been done so many times already
  2. Hi all thought I would post my van on here I've had it for a few months now and when I first got it the only mod was some ghia alloys thay soon changed. I've spent a lot of time and money up to now and it's no where near finished. I have a lot of plans and to be clear everything I'm doing on the van I'm building myself. I did the wheels, moulding of the rear bumper and skirts, custom exhaust etc etc. The only thing I'm not doing myself is the MOT because I can't. Rear bumper needs finishing as do my custom LED rear lights. Then it's repair all dents and rust and full respray. Will let the pics do the talking now and update soon with the future plans. Comments or ideas welcome

  4. Escort Van Fuel Gauge

Hi all picked up an escort van two days ago got it home and realised it needed a rear engine mount so I've done that and also the fuel gauge wasn't working (knew about that) anyway had the tank off cleaned the plug etc still no joy traced the wired back to find it not plugged into anything. There was no plugs around only two wires hanging a brown and white. Plugged one in think was the white and fuel gauge started working so just taped the other up and left it. Since using the van more and more the fuel gauge seems to go up the more I use I so got a horrid feeling going to show empty when full and full when empty. Not swapped the wires over or tried that yet just wondering if anyone can shed some light on the brown and white wire or what could be happening? Many thanks in advance it's a 2000 1.8 D with 82k on the clock Sent from my SM-G900F using Ford OC mobile app
  5. Mk3 Mondeo Wheel Bearing

I did my off side rear hub a few days ago. Absolute doddle in my opinion. A new hub cost me £56 which was my only option as I can't get trade discount at that place and was only place open on a Sunday before travelling back to work. Anyway Jack it up and support on stands Remove the wheel Remove the calliper, carrier and disk You will see four bolts holding it on they are torx bits but can't remember exact side think was T45/T50 cracking off them bolts and remove. The hub will be fairly solid in place even with bolts removed. I used a flat head and tapped it slowly and gently to remove it. Once it starts coming slowly wiggle it with your hands and then when it comes away carefully unplug the abs sensor. Then it's just the reverse to fit the new one. My kit came with new 10 mm bolts a lot easier that the torx bits. Sealed hubs are a lot easier than pressed in bearings I did them on my old car without a press absolute nightmare!! If you need any help give me a shout Sent from my SM-G900F using Ford OC mobile app
  6. Fault Codes ; (

Hi all the code P1631 Main Relay (Power hold) keeps coming back anyone got any ideas to try? Cheers Sent from my SM-G900F using Ford OC mobile app
  7. Fault Codes ; (

Thanks for the reply, I had just come on to update not had chance all day with the kids. The only error code that came back up this afternoon was the P1631 Main relay (Power hold) However when it was on the ramps today having a set of new tyres and the tracking we could hear a hissing noise from the front so tomorrow's job after running around is find the hiss. The guy thought it was coming from the egr valve lower hose but we shall see tomorrow looks like been leaking oil or something because the bottom of it is dirty so will take it off tomorrow and inspect it. If all good it will get cleaned up and re fitted and I will hunt for the hiss from other hoses. Also on tick over most the time (not all the time) I get a knocking from what I think is the lower pulley any ideas how to confirm before I order the kit? 8. Fault Codes ; (

Ye I've cleared them and will check again after a bit of driving tomorrow. Must be a fault somewhere with the issues been having which ain't good when I'm on the motorway most the time cheers and will update tomorrow Sent from my SM-G900F using Ford OC mobile app
  9. Fault Codes ; (

Hi all since my last post my super F got delivered yesterday so I've plugged it in and got three fault Codes - P1631 Main Relay (Power Hold) P0191 Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor A Circuit Range/Performance P1664 Injection Pump Control Module Malfunction I've been reading a lot of various things how one can trigger them all and about it being a battery/grounding fault however with my issues being intermittent I am not too sure. The issues are after cruising at 60/70 for a while if I put my foot down a bit to overtake it gets the glow plug light flashing and into limp mode then eventually just dies. If I turn it off while stationary or rolling and restart it's perfect if I don't cruise at them speeds it's perfect Any help would be highly appreciated I'm booked in for 4 new tyres and the tracking tomorrow but don't want to spend a fortune if these faults are going to be very costly tyres are not essential just like to keep on top of them due to averaging 700 + miles a week. 11. New Mondeo Owner With Few Issues

Thanks very much again I've found the special tool on ebay so will order one of them when I get the parts. Wasn't sure if it was a chain or belt at least don't need to worry about that then. I've found the F Super on ebay but it says no compatability with windows 7 and 8 etc so may not work on my laptop will look into that. Thanks again very very much Sent from my SM-G900F using Ford OC mobile app
  12. New Mondeo Owner With Few Issues

Thanks that was took after I gave it a quick detail lol. I will sort out blanking the egr probably at the end of the month. My new cam sensor got delivered today so I fitted it before driving back to Suffolk where I am now ready for shift tomorrow and the glow plug light still came on only the once when I was cruising at a constant 60-70 :( so looks like I need to invest in a diagnostic kit I have one that cost 15 off eBay but it won't read the mondeo :( hopefully nothing major but time will tell I've got a few days off at the end of the week so I will investigate further if I can and loom at the power steering fluid issue. Is the timing belt a big job on these? I've worked on my own cars for years and can do many jobs but never owned a mondeo Thanks again for your help Sent from my SM-G900F using Ford OC mobile app

  14. New Mondeo Owner With Few Issues

Thanks for the write up that must of took a long time and I highly appreciate it, by perfect I mean no issues or noises etc I know no car will ever be perfect especially an 11 year old mondeo just want to get to the bottom of the faults and fix them ASAP for my own peace of mind really. By perfect I just mean no known/major issues mine is the 130 with a front egr the only pictures I have at the minute of of the engine after a quick detail but will get some more ASAP Sent from my SM-G900F using Ford OC mobile app
  15. New Mondeo Owner With Few Issues

No I got it off a local lad, I put my convertible up for sale to buy a diesel and got offered this in a deal and took it. It drives perfect just finding these problems now I've been using it every day and so much. Round town etc it's perfect just have these power issues cruising on the motorway. Hopefully it's just the sensor but if not looking into what else it could be. At the end of the month I will be replacing the fan belt, tensioner and crank pulley and hopefully that will sort the knocking on idle. In regards to the cream in the steering cap I'm lost hopefully someone will have a good idea as to the cause if there is any usual places for water to get in I love the mondeo first one and will have it for a while without a doubt but need it to be perfect all the time. hence wanting to sort these issues ASAP Sent from my SM-G900F using Ford OC mobile app
