  1. I'd feel like a fraud ... the only time i upgraded/tuned my ford was when i put a new air freshener in 🙂
  2. My last focus (59 plate) seemed to go through no end of bulbs ... I hope the 14 plate is better!
  3. Thanks for all the replies ... I might just get halfords own for now! 🙂
  4. I checked it on a battery tester (shows a digital scale from 0-20 approx). I'll fish out the multi meter and get a bit more scientific! thanks 🙂
  5. When I get into my 14 plate focus I get a message saying the keyfob battery needs replacing ... but I have tested the battery and it is 90%... do i ignore the warning? Change the battery anyway? Thanks!
  6. Hi folks. I need to replace one of the headlight bulbs (dipped) on my 14 plate focus estate. Is there any benefit to upgrading them at this point, or are bog standard bulbs good enough. Please link to any recommended bulbs as it's a bit of a minefield out there!
  7. I've found a 2011 Mondeo titanium 2.0 TDci 163 auto estate. 60k miles. Under £6k. FSH and 2 owners. We can't hang around too long as are without a car and need to do school run/commute to work... So will probably take a punt on that one.
  8. I'd go up to £7-8k if I thought I was getting value for money. A Mondeo estate would be even nicer!
  9. Cheers. Replacement car it is then... Any recommendations for 5yr old diesel estates? 50% short journeys 50% motorway. I've seen an ex fire service focus1.6 TDci econotech. 61 plate, 87k miles. £4k. Is the MK3 engine better than the dog MK2.5?
  10. Our focus has costed us a fair bit (new battery, new alternator, fix oil leak) recently. Those weren't too bad and could be classed as general upkeep. However we've now been told it needs a new turbo ... Costing £1500 with labour and associated parts. Our connundrum is whether to keep shelling out on such an old car (125k miles). Any thoughts? We paid £4k for it about 5 years ago, and had the fuel rail replaced soon after for a few hundred quid.
  11. The pins are right, but the plastic head is a bit too big .... grrrrr
  12. Right, what a palava! As a quick fix I tried to separate the socklet as per the diagram from Stoney871. No luck. Not sure if I'm supposed to push, wiggle in, or wiggle out, or what, but I can't get the socket apart. So, I then tried to fit a new cable from the back of the head unit down to the air vents: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/361900286281?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2648&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT That doesnt fit the back of my head unit! I have attached photos of standard cable that goes into my head unit, the socket on my head unit, and the plug on the cable that doesnt fit. *****. I have now ordered a different cable ... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181442971799?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT The plug on that looks a bit smaller. so I guess there are two different versions of the 6000CD head unit!
  13. The cable has finally arrived from Outer Mongolia :) When I disconnect the old cable (that runs to the glove box) will that just pull out or is it likely to be zip tied behind the dashboard? Do I need to remove the demister switch panel to run the cable down there? What's the recommended way of getting the cable out through the demister switch area? Find a gap? Drill a hole? Remove a blanking plate? Thanks folks.
  14. Cheers. Will get one. So that connects to back of head unit? In the meantime anyone know how to remove old socket? Looks like it should split into two halves or pinch to release...
  15. Who's bottom!?!?!?! Will that involve assembly paste!?!?!
