  1. Hi,

    I have a mk7 fiesta ecoboost zetecs '13

I was having issues with my car junping forwards in 1st gear, i recently has my clutch and slave changed due to a leak, since then my issue has not changed, the car is still jumping in 1st gear which caused my auto start light to come on and my engine management also sometimes the power between 1st and 2nd gear is exactly the same

Any advice on what this could be?

      Hi Scott,

It's best to post questions like this as a topic in the Fiesta forum so that everyone can read and offer advice.

If it's jumping in 1st with the clutch down at junctions etc then it still sounds like a clutch fault.  Either faulty new parts, or not bled properly, or even the master cylinder.

If it's jumping while driving then it's more likely to be an engine fault such as a misfire.  If you can get fault codes read that would be ideal.  We tend to recommend using Forscan on here as generic code readers often miss Ford specific codes.

  2. Hi Tom,  can't get any info on etis, so here's my reg, BP17EWR

    Thanks

      Hi Kevin,

There are no outstanding recalls showing for your Edge.

      Cheers

  3. Hi Tom, i'm having an issue on my 58 petrol duratech focus. The engine started to miss and so changed the dodgy coil pack. Now it has acceleration hesitation issues and an over rev on changing gear sometimes. The engine management light is on aswell, any ideas? Many thanks, Kelv

      Hi Kelv,

If you can get the fault code(s) triggering the EML that would help us diagnose more accurately.  And let us know whether it's a 1.6 or a 1.8/2.0 as they're different engine types.

      Thanks,

      Tom

  4. HI Tom was wondering if you know how to remove the dashboard out of 2008 mk6 Ford Fiesta

      Hi Jim,

Is it the full dash you need to remove or just the cluster or centre console?

I haven't done a full dash on a Mk6 but if you make a public post on the Fiesta section of the forum hopefully someone else can offer advice on that.

  5. Hi

I thought that might be the case.  Can you get a picture of both halves of the plug?  If so, post it in your thread rather than on here so other people may be able to help as well.

      Hi Craig,

      It's not a conversion I've done myself.

Do the plugs match up ok or is there obviously a wire missing/wrong somewhere?

  7. No new screen.  And definitely rain water.  Confused.  How does  carpets lift up. At front.  And  door  trim . Does it just pull off

No worries Garry, glad to hear it was an easy fix.  The carpet is one piece for the whole floor so you'd need to remove the seats and centre console (around handbrake etc) to remove it, plus a few bits of plastic trim around the edges.  Not a 10 minute job unfortunately.

I had a leak getting into the boot on mine, dried out the small easy bits of carpet in the boot but it also got under the rear seats into the main carpet which I didn't have time to remove or space to dry out.  I tried a couple of 'damp traps' from poundland but they didn't make any difference at all.  Just driving the car normally with heating on for the last week (about 200 miles so far) seems to have dried it out, there's no condensation inside now and no damp smell either.  It might help to run an electric radiator or dehumidifier inside the car for a few nights if possible but beware of the fire risk from doing that.

Any rain that gets inside the door through the window should drain through the bottom the door outside.   So I doubt it would be from the deflectors.

Could you get someone to run a hose over the car while you sit inside and watch for leaks?

Plastic trim along bottom of door is clipped in so does just pull off but take care not to snap the clips underneath.  This also holds the carpet down on that side.

There are some large round plastic clips holding carpet in under glovebox as well.

Hi, sorry, it was over 2 years ago when I changed it and I can't remember the size now.  They're likely to be 10mm or 13mm but I honestly can't remember.

  11. hi tom its 20l tdci the turbo stop working intermittently  the tester said turbo mechanical fault so the garage fitted a new turbo but still the same

    1. TomsFocus

      TomsFocus

Ok, it could be the turbo actuator at fault, damaged vacuum pipe maybe, or any of various sensors.  Really need to get the codes read if they haven't been already, you can do it yourself with Forscan on a laptop or smart phone.  Post the faults on the thread when you've got them.  :)

  12. Here's a photo of it Tom, if you zoom in you will see I have lifted the left hand corner upwards and you can see the 'clip'
