Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. So i've recently (about 2-3 months ago) replaced my right wing mirror which got smashed, all functions on both mirrors worked perfectly fine. Only recently, yesterday, it appears that I can move the passenger's side window, but not the right side window (this at first went down, but then got stuck and would not go back up again, a few button presses got it fully up and closed again). Later on the same day I noticed I could not adjust either electronic mirror using the adjustment knob, and could only control the left window using the window controls on the driver's side. I removed the door card, and checked for any obstructed or snapped cables, there doesn't appear to be any, and i've felt around the internal of the cables with rubber coating on them, none of the wires appear snapped or disconnected. I then wondered if it's an issue with what appears to be the motor....... I removed it and tried operating the right side window... the central cog which I assume is supposed to rotate to move the window either up or down does not move. I have provided a video as I feel this may better demonstrate the issue. Any suggestions or ideas? Thanks in advance. :(
  2. Things I Do Like

I know where you are going with that .... but since when did Clive serve in the Met? :P I thought he was more Devon/Somerset/Cornwall kind of way..... This is for the Metropolitan Special Constabulary anyway, a reserve force of officers with the same uniforms and powers as regular officers, however unpaid for their work. It's currently the only way to get into the force as their recent New PC campaign closed (Even to apply for that you had to be fluent in at least 1 non-english language!).
  3. Things I Do Like

Thanks, it's something i've been wanting to do for the last two years or so. Only just the other week sought up the courage to finally apply and put myself forward for the voluntary role :)
  4. Things I Do Like

Handing in my notice at work last Friday, and getting invited to a Day 1 Assessment at the Met's training centre in West Brompton (16th October) Interview, Written assessment, then providing I pass both those, JRFT, security checks, vetting, financial checks, employment checks, criminal convictions check, and then being authorized to go ahead and start training for the MSC! :) Going to be 1 long hectic day but I'm sure it will be worth it in the end!
  5. New Owner Advice Please

I was more thinking could you not take it back as OP has been sold a car that is not "As described" ? assuming it wasn't listed with faults.... and yes, as you say, Horn not working is an MOT failure.
  6. New Owner Advice Please

Well you didn't say how much you paid for the car, so it's hard to be sure, but i'd say the main costs will come from 1) Diagnosis of the issues 2) Labour costs, time spent on attempting to put the issues right. I wouldn't be surprised if the bill was in excess of a few hundred pounds (£200-£300) would by my estimate all in, although it depends how much the garage charge per hour in Labour, and of course, how long it takes to diagnose the issue, not to mention part prices if any are needed...
  7. Customising Ford Ka Mk 2

Very welcome, that's what we're all here for. :)
  8. Customising Ford Ka Mk 2

    http://demon-tweeks.co.uk/performance/gear-knobs You're welcome. :)
  9. Customising Ford Ka Mk 2

Very much so... those things are a pain [emoji14]
  10. Customising Ford Ka Mk 2

You'll need to get one that is compatible with the car, most custom gear knobs are not designed for "lift up" reverse operation, that will obviously restrict or "limit" your choice significantly.... Shop around for a Gearknob you like, but just make sure that you filter for "lift up reverse" as in the attached image, anything other than a lift up reverse in theory will not work (i.e You won't be able to enable reverse gear which would make it fail it's MOT - aside from being useless!).
  11. Customising Ford Ka Mk 2

I'm pretty sure it does, I looked at replacing the gear knob on my old Mk2 Clio but was put off as you had to lift a "ring" to put it into reverse, and I couldn't find any gear knobs that I liked that had this.
  12. Club Lanyards?

Ahahah! "Worth millions".... you keep telling yourself that :P I doubt i'll ever be worth millions If I decide to go down that route...... never know.. could end up like eBuyer.
  13. Club Lanyards?

You cheeky sod! :P To be fair, at the moment, that makes my "company" worth £10, when it doesn't exist, I'm up for getting £5 for nothing ;) This is like a cheapskate's version of Dragon's Den....
  14. Club Lanyards?

I'd love to do shift work, earlies one morning, late night the next, would be good. Due to my current job nature (IT Technician in a Private school) I work either 8:00-4:30 or 8:30-5:00, although as it's the summer holidays now I do 8-4, gets a bit of a dull routine. I'd love to be self employed or a company director, trouble is at the moment I have neither the Capital or the business plan and model to put into practice... best I get saving eh! Anyone got a spare £20k they don't mind giving me?........ :P
  15. Club Lanyards?

I'd like two extra hands too please...... :P 4 hands are better than 2! Sorry, I am being picky... "off" is the word you were looking for.
