Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Require Focus Easy Fill Fuel Funnel (Diesel)

Blimey! That's cheap. I paid £7+ for a petrol one from Fords
  2. Auto lights always ON, Auto wipers single speed only

    Many thanks Tom, very helpful!
  3. Auto lights always ON, Auto wipers single speed only

Thanks Tom. Is the same sensor shared between auto wipers and lights then? Is an easy fix or dealer job?
  4. Hi all, I hope someone can help. The auto lights stay on irrespective of daylight; they go off as normal via the switch and ignition. The auto wipers only work at slow/medium intermittent speed irrespective of selector position. All other wipe and wash functions work fine. The screen is clean over the sensors and nothing seems to be out of place looking from outside. Any help much appreciated 2010 Focus Titanium 1.6 petrol (non VVT), Automatic, keyless entry and start
  5. What fuel do you use ?

Hi Lee, There's another very interesting thread here:
  6. 1.6 Ti-VCT or 1.8 Duratec HE Engine - choose ?

Plus one for the 1.6 Duratec. No problems with mine, not exactly hair-raising off the mark with the auto box but can happily cruise at (cough) 70mph. Doesn't drink a drop of oil between services but mine is coming up for the belt change mentioned.
  7. Where to get steel rims/winter tyres.

We don't get much snow in the West Country but we do get wet and muddy roads. I have recently gone for Michelin CrossClimate+ all round and I am very pleased with them
  8. Goodbye, and thanks for all the fish...

Well, the Focus is 'mostly harmless'. Good luck, Don't Forget Your Towel (I'd be interested in your choice of 'taller' as I too have a back problem)
  9. Wheel spin and judder from rear wheels on moving away

Jim, search and read up on 'Ford Powershift problems' and see if anything rings true. There have been well documented problems with these boxes particularly, I have read, with the 1.6 petrol engine. Here's one to get you started: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_PowerShift_transmission Good luck
  10. Ford Focus 2010 1.6 (100PS) Timing Belt

That's something I've been wanting to do. I've got the Titanium spec 20 spoke alloys; do they need anything special? When I put my details in traders' compatibility charts it comes back as not compatible!
  11. Windscreen issues

Hi Matt, I have been having a look around as I have a similar problem and I am loath to get the windscreen replaced due to the horror stories I've read re leaks, non-working heated screen, auto lamps/wipers etc. etc. I had a disastrous leak in a Mondeo years ago which, temporarily fortunately, messed up the auto box computer thingy behind the glovebox. Complete nightmare until I noticed the leak and managed to dry everything out. No permanent damage to the 'thingy'!! You can get polishing kits on eBay for around £10 using cerium oxide. Or if you already have unused polishing pads for a drill/grinder/polisher you can get the cerium oxide alone for about £4. Cerium Oxide is used in the glass trade. Probably wise to trial on an unimportant window like the o/s quarter light before setting about the windscreen. I haven't got around to it yet - it passed the MOT so it's not urgent - and winter weather isn't conducive to non-urgent jobs. Yes, it needs washing!! Good luck, let us know how you get on.
  12. Mk2 headlight bulbs

    What he says...
  13. Your battery is low

Hi. I have no knowledge specifically of the Mk3 but something you might like to try based on my experience of changing these batteries professionally. Car remotes are generally trouble free but can sometimes be fussy about batteries. And once in a while a temperamental one comes along... One of mine is on a Mk2.5 but the warning goes away after I do this: Remove the battery and make sure all the internal contacts are clean. Clean the battery with a clean cloth/tissue and replace it avoiding touching the battery if possible. If you need to press it in, clean where you touched it. Give the contact on the other half a gentle clean before putting it back together. There's usually a time limit for leaving the battery out. Check your manual, you don't want to have to reprogram it. Good luck
  14. The Awkward Moment When...

Interesting, thanks Wilco. Do you know if Vauxhall factors have them since GM took over servicing/spares for Saab?
