    clutch problem

Hi , not sure if i'm even posting this in the right place but I was hoping someone more in the know could help me out . I was driving earlier and as I went round a corner and dropped down from 3rd to 2nd i heard a twang , sounded like wire cable snapping , no real difference with it driving , no jerkyness or insane revs when it happened . Only thing I noticed is it takes longer to pull off from 1st and the revs can go a little higher until i get to 3rd,taking slightly longer to get speed up on first couple of gears. So i'm guessing somethings up with the clutch but have no knowledge of car mechanics at all , has anyone had a similar experience or just know what the problem could be? I suppose i'm looking for a ball park figure of how much I could be looking at if it sounds like an obvious problem to someone else . Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated Oh by the way I have a mk 1 petrol 1.6 focus

    simple question

Thanks man, that's what i thought but i'm a total noob at car maintenance , sick of going to the garage for simple jobs though
  3. hi can anyone tell me whether or not i need to disconnect the battery when changing the ignition coil?
  4. Hi i'm new to this site,I registered because I was hoping for some advice before I waste money. I have a focus 2002 model,it has a leak in the gasket cover which is messing up the cat, sp plugs and coil pack. I'm not bothered about the cat or leak at the minute, last week it started misfirng so on monday i changed the spark plugs, all fine for a cple days then yesterday it started misfiring again. So now i'm gonna get a coil pack/leads and hope that sorts it for a while but what i need to know is even though it had new spark plugs on monday is it best to order new pugs too with the coil pack and leads and change them again? this car has been great really, struggled on through its problems,a year ago it started misfiring so my mate changed the plugs and its been fine since it started up again last week, cant afford to take it in to garage so hoping coil pack will sort it til september . Any advice would be much appreciated Also should i be disconnecting the battery when replacing the ignition coil? I'm only just starting to do what bits i can on my own car so have no real mechanical knowledge
