  1. The American fiestas interior is soooo much nicer compared to EU models. Don't know why they change it like that.
  2. Hi guys. Weird question. Will the US steering wheel and airbag fit on a EU Fiesta 2015? I prefer the look of the US steering wheel as the EU one looks a little slim in the middle and all the sizes are out of ratio. It's just a weird thing I'm looking to do if its possible? I've attached what the American steering wheel and airbag looks like. My car also has cruise control so i'll obviously have to get one with the 2 sets of buttons. Whats the possibility. Is there any US folks out there who can snap me a pic of the airbag connectors and the size of the steering wheel nut? Are the button connectors the same etc?

  4. Right, this will be a nice easy non technical tutorial to fit NAV to most Fords with the Non-Touch Sync Sony system. These are instructions for a Fiesta (the trim removal etc) so some may not apply to your car, however, the diagnostics and some wiring needed will most probably be needed to follow for most if not all cars. So. Remove top centre dashboard trim. Start at the front with either a trim removal tool or use a large flat head screwdriver. Lift upwards to unclip the trim. Be careful not to scratch the trim (wrap a screwdriver in electrical tape) There will be 2xTorx screws on the front button facia, the multifunction display unit and 2x7mm bolts holding in the audio unit. Remove the display first, be careful not to pull the wire out. Unclip the wire by pressing in the tab and sliding down the locking mechanism. On the fiesta, remove the piece of trim underneath the stereo that will usually show the passenger airbag status. use the removal tool on the top of this trim. There are 2 clips on the edge and one in the centre so be careful not to snap them. Once the airbag status trim has been removed, pull the facia trim for the buttons upwards until it unclips, with gentle persuasion, then outward but be careful of the connector. Unclip the facia and leave to one side. Pull the silver radio unit outwards, with gentle persuasion again. Once removed, there will be 2 large connector blocks, one larger than the other, and 2 'FAKRA' connectors, one white and black, so unplug all those. Now. Before you make your life hell. Once removing the large connectors of the radio, on the larger one (called the C1 connector) check pins 4 and 5. My easiest way to describe to check, you may need a magnifying glass, on the side the cables go in, there are numbers on the rows, starting with 2 then the last pin I think is 12 and count from left to right. Go across a few from the number 2 and if there are cables in those pins then you most probably won't have to need to do one of the further steps, but its better to check once it's all out instead of having to pull it all out again. If you get stuck identifying what PIN numbers are what, there are plenty of tutorials on the net how to check as its rather hard to explain. If you haven't got those cables in pins 4 and 5, read towards the bottom for instructions. So. reverse order, put the new radio unit in and plug it all in but keep the black FAKRA connector to one side, followed by the new button facia, then the display (it won't fit in the old display mountings if you haven't got the cradle it sits on, as the larger display sits further forward then go to a scrapyard and find one). On the new display there will be a violet, blue and black FAKRA connector on the back. Plug the black FAKRA cable that came out of the radio unit in the black screen connector to get traffic, and you will need a Female FAKRA to FAKRA to go from the violet on the screen into the black connector of the radio unit. The blue connector is for the GPS antenna. If you haven't got one, they're about a fiver on Ebay/Amazon by searching "FAKRA GPS Antenna" and you can just stick it to the dashboard or underneath the screen surround. I recommend not ***** it all together and pushing it in flush until you do a systems check. turn the ignition key, the new display should light up. press the navigation button and you should get nav. If your speedometer goes into KM's then don't worry, there is a fix for that shortly. BEFORE ***** BACK TOGETHER. If you have the 2 cables in pins 4 and 5, go into menu, then audio settings, then navigation voice. Change the volume of the voice. If you cannot hear any voice come through the speakers then you need to install 2 cables from the display unit to the audio unit. I would highly recommend taking this to an auto electrician or an audio shop as it's fiddly work. You have to disassemble the display plug by cutting the cable tie on the right angle end, and unclipping and pulling the connector out of the locking housing. It's a pain in the a$$ so make sure you know what you're doing. You need to put PIN 12 of the display unit to PIN 5 of the C1 connector (the larger connector out of the audio unit) then PIN 6 of the display unit to PIN 4 of the C1 connector. If there are any cables in the connector pins listed already (will be in only one connector, so it'll be in the C1 connector and not the display unit or vice versa) you can disconnect the old cables to make way for the new pair. MAKE SURE YOU GET THE CORRECT PINS. You can damage the CAN network or the units if you cut the wrong cables or connect everything up wrong. Buy yourself a F-super version 2 off eBay for a few quid, install the drivers and install FORScan software which you can find on Google. go into google once the FORScan has installed and search 'FORScan extended licence', Make sure you click on the FORScan official website. Create an account with them and follow the instructions how to activate the extended licence. Or, find a local dealer with IDS and ask them to activate the NAV. To activate it using FORScan you need to go to the Central Configuration page (the blue chip on the left hand side) enable Engineering mode in the top dropdown menu, then change the Navigation System option to With Navigation (EU) or any other country you're fitting this to and change the MFD4 to MFD5. Please don't change anything if you're not comfortable, and make sure you do a full backup of the car by pressing SAVE on the bottom screen once you're in the cars central configuration before making any changes. Hopefully by now the KM will change back to miles on the fiestas. Sorry if I've waffled on a bit, it's harder than I thought to give clear instructions. Most of it is self explanatory other than the 2 extra cables and the programming. I have some pictures of my install so I will post them later. Any questions just message me.
  5. Hi there guys, I'm new to this forum so please bare with me. I've retrofitted the Sony Navigation unit to my 2014 Fiesta TitaniumX, all is functioning after buying a FAKRA GPS Antenna and it does route and talk to the cars CANBUS network absolutely fine, so I can change car settings like traction control and Ambient lighting. I programmed the navigation unit in FORScan by enabling the Navigation Module under the IPC. I also changed the display version to MFD5 instead of MFD4 and that meant my speedo went back to Miles on the odometer instead of KM, and I can change it in the settings now. My only concern is I don't get ANY voice. The radio turns itself down and nothing comes out. I don't know if there is supposed to be a speaker in the top grille above the display unit, but I haven't got one. Is this a software problem? Thanks for all your help.
