Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Now. I have looked closely into the engine bay and there has been a mist of engine oil on top of the starter motor selenoid. I have cleared it up and wiped dry. Guess what. for two weeks now not a single problem starting up the engine, would engine oil make the circuit short? now thinking where the oil spillage could be from as only place i can think of is the dip stick area.
  2. Damian I have tried all, when ignition on, off, engine running etc. But the eml light comes on whenever it want and for most of the days it never comes on really confusing as can't locate the fault
  3. HI All I tried to look on the forum for the signs and symptoms of the illness of my Ford but no real joy. My mondeo mk4 2008 2.0tdci has some starting problems, there are days where it start without problems at all, like a new car, but from time to time after few starts there is a dodgy one, it cranks up longer than usual and literally when the engine starts it cough's once. It seems to be on the right hand side of the engine bay ( when looking from the drivers position ) This is going on for couple of weeks now and started after stalling the engine in reverse. After stalling it didn't want to start at all, turning the key and not even single crank. Last Saturday was same situation, the car was driving lovely all day long, and suddenly it decided it will not start. I have checked all fuses in engine compartment ( visually and with the meter) disconnected the battery few times and nothing, so was just about to call RAC and tried one more time, hey ho, it started cranking and after 5 seconds of cranking it, the motor decided to start. Reading up on the forum stating it's the starter motor, but if it was going bad i presume it wouldn't have good days. Also there is EML light showing up on the dash board when ignition on but goes off when engine runs, again, it's not ever time, just some times it decides,, hey i will shine. I tried to hook up the odbII scanner as i have one and there is no problems with it at all. The idle is 799-802 rpm - really steady and i am getting bit bored with the issue now. I hope somebody here will be kind enough to assist me with the problem and hopefully can sort it without going to the garage.
  4. 12v feed to reverse lights

I see nobody tried this solution. Anyway once have day off i will try it and let you peeps know
  5. Ok then. I have problem with my ford mondeo mk4 2008 reversing lights. I have checked the switch - even changed it, Checked the fuse - ok, Was advised to check the rely for these lights but digging in forums someone wise said there is no relay for that as too small of an electric circuit ( please don't quote me here), The bulbs are ok, so I have pretty much exhausted the list of to do first. There is no 12v supply to the lights switch and my question is how can i get the 12v supply to the reversing lights fuse so i can have these operational. I was thinking to tap in straight from the battery to one of the connector wires that are connected to the reversing light switch to feed 12v ( obviously having fuse in between the switch and battery). just wondering if that would work and would that be safe. Hope you can advise FOlks
  6. Question here: did anybody replaced door and ignition barrel in mondeo mk4? Will i need to reprogram ecu or just change the hardware? i have 2 key snow, one for the doors one for ignition so something were changed (this is how i bought the car - HPI checked so not stolen) Please advise if i can go and buy door and ignition barrels and keys of ebay and just change. Thanks in advance
  7. Reversing Lights Not Working

I have same problem. The car is in FORD's garage and the guys are investigating it. As soon as I have answer will post it here as may be helpful. If I will have no joy will need to tap somewhere to 12v, utilize the reversing light switch, pull some cables and glue on some 12v led's
  8. Reversing Lights Not Working

Mysterious relay. I tried to find this but not described on the fuse box lid. Also not listed in manual. When checked visually all my relays seem to have good coils. Difficult one
  9. Reversing Lights Not Working

I had same problem. But after fitting new switch the lights still dont come on. Need to check relay maybe
  10. DTC codes in test menu

Checked the fuses and it looks ok. Will have to look inside the doors . In mean time I can lock the doors using lock knob on the door from the inside - at least this keep the car secure
  11. DTC codes in test menu

Thanks. I will check the fuse. When i lock the car with remote it sounds like the motors closing it but obviously not. All other doors including boot are locked but not these one. Looks like a weekend full of fun
  12. DTC codes in test menu

Stoney871 - thanks for that. I dont think it would be the socket as the back plug doesnt work either. Now I have noticed that driver side passenger doors don't lock even if i double lock the car. When pulling the handle the doors open as never locked. this activates the alarm tho.
  13. Hi there I have purchased a ford mondeo from 2008, Drives really well but having some minor problems with it, Maybe something you could help. 1 - Cigarette lighter sockets don't work, i have checked the fuses but it looks brand new and its not dirty or blown, 2 - reveres lights don't switch on, checked light bulbs and they are ok, even put new one in and still no joy 3 - during the test ( press ok buttton , then turn inition key etc.) i have discovered 3 dtc codes which my obd2 scanner didn't pick up : - dtc f00616 - dtc c41568 - dtc c41668 The car starts and drives, has plenty of power but i am worried about these codes. I am fairly new motorist and keen DIY'er so don't mind to attempt to fix problems my self if safe to do so.
