  1. Hi , I don't know if i'm putting this on the right page, but.. Unfortunately it's come to the time to say goodbye to my mk4 fiesta. We have sadly out grown her. The children are growing , and its a tight squeeze for the 3 of them in the back. So I was wondering if there was any members interested in buying her and getting her back on the road. MOT has expired, ( march 2018), does need the nearside trailing arm bush replacing, and an offside outer drive shaft gater replacing aswell. She starts and runs on the button every time, no matter what the weather. I have spent some money on her. She has had both front wishbones replaced, I have replaced the rear shock absorbers, and the centre part of the exhaust system, also both of the front suspension link arms. The only other job that needs addressing is that the fuel gauge works backwards. I replaced the fuel pump/sender in the tank when i first got the car as the original one was very hit and miss with it's functioning. And since then it's has caused the gauge to show empty when full, and full when empty. It is a pain, but i've gotten used to it. I am looking for a sensible offer for her, maybe £225. I am based in norfolk, not far from Norwich.

    ABS Brake bleeding

This may sound weird, but i've been driving for 30+ years and aal my cars have never been fitted with abs brakes. So my question is, Do i bleed them the same way as ordinary braking systems? I am replacing front calipers as well, so i know i'm going to need to bleed the system. just don't want to make a mistake.

Ford Fiesta 1.25 2000 NO HEAT!

Hi I have a 99 1.25, and over the xmas period i had the same problem. I replaced the hcv and had a full working heater again. Then it died again. Turned out to be hcv again. So i have bypassed the hcv and , although i have constant heat, it works. I will be getting a new hcv at some point. Might also be worth flushing system again just to make sure there is no obstructions. Good luck.

    1.25 Timing belt/chain interval?

Reading these comments is making me more inclined to buy a belt soon and get it changed. I have a 99 mk4, running a 1.25 zetec-s engine. I have had the car on the road for just under a year and hadn't given the cam belt much thought, but now i think its time to renew it. The car has only done 90,000 since new, and as i bought car from ebay, no service history.

    Your Fiesta

My 1999 mk4 1.25 ghia. A bargain from ebay. Needs a few bits doing, but that's just general running wear and tear. And as its not reached 100,000 miles yet, there's still plenty of life left in the old girl.

    mk4 heater control valve???

Have bled the system and put fresh anti-freeze mix in, and it still made no difference to the lack of heat. So i have removed the hcv and replaced with a couple of pieces of pipe. This is a temporary measure, once i have purchased a new one, it will be put back to how it should be. Thanks all for the advice.

    mk4 heater control valve???

Well i checked controls, and it is definately the hcv. So i will be investing in a new one at some point. Heater pipes now run straight to heater, so once engine is at running temp, we are toasty inside. Next job is changing front wishbones. Here's hoping for some dry days, as i don't have a garage. .Wish me luck....

    mk4 heater control valve???

Hi Goochy81, It sounds like a popular problem on the mk4. Although my previous mk4 had a brilliant heater. When I got this one, the heater wasn't working, it was suggested that it could be the hcv, I changed it for the one off my old car, as I knew that worked, and I had a heater for about 3 months. Then I noticed it wasn't getting as hot as normal, and my footwell was getting wet. So I assumed matrix had split, and bypassed the whole heater. Carpet dried out, but its been a cold Xmas. Flushed heater matrix and no wet carpets. Reconnected the heater through the hcv, and its been very intermittent with heat. Some have said hcv, and some have said that the controls themselves could be at fault. That's my next step before bypassing hcv. Your problem seems more heater controls. Have you checked to see if the controls on the dash are operating the heater properly. It heat is going in, and coming out, then unless the heater is stuck in a cold setting, you should have heat. If I can't find a problem changing the controls, I'm going back to basics and going to run heater pipes from engine to matrix to engine, and forget the hcv. Good luck with your restoration, sorry can't be more help. Andy52.

    mk4 heater control valve???

So if I put the pipes direct to the heater matrix rather than going through the control valve would only make it hot inside the car then. That would be a bonus at the moment.

  13. Hi can anyone shed some light on how this works, and what exactly is it supposed to do. I have had no heater since xmas as i thought the matrix was leaking into the cabin. But have now found this not to be the case. So today i re-connected the pipes back to the heater control valve. I did however, before connecting all the pipes, connect the valve up and turn on the ignition and the heater. But the valve did not turn or click. Heat is circulating from the engine through the heater and there is no leaks. So i was wondering what is the valve supposed to do.???

  15. Hi all, drove up the city yesterday, a trip of about 26 miles. When we parked up I noticed that driver side front footwell was soaked. I've been having heater problems for a while, and I now have an idea where the coolant has been slowly disappearing to. Is this a heater matrix leak, or is there a split pipe behind the dash? I have had to bypass the heater matrix for now as I don't want any more water in side. Can anyone help with how to remove matrix without disturbing aircon pipes please. Thanks in advance, Andy
