      it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

    @MJNewton I'll be painting my pipes with the VHT paint from Halfords next weekend, did you use a primer before painting yours? Anything else other than clean the pipes? Thanks.

    See the black vertical line on the bottom pipe there? My new clean pipes have that. The previous (corroded) ones didn't.

    This is very interesting. May do this on the new pipes to stop any chance of it happening again.

    Does anyone know if zero degree outside temps will stop the stop/start working? Or maybe the freezing temps has just drained the battery?

    Ian, is there any risk doing this? My SS hasn't ever really worked properly since i bought it from a car supermarket half a year ago - i imagine because the car was sitting there for a good few months unused. I've been on a few 2hr journeys in the last month which i imagine should have charged the battery?

    Replaced the whole Turbo, but only because the pipes are attached to the turbo housing - i.e you can;t just replace the pipes.

    Ford have agreed to cover 100% of the repair cost. Delighted! Thanks all for your help, without the knowledge on this board i'd have continued driving the car and would now be facing the repair costs of a new engine.

    Well, my Fiesta now has a new turbo and degas hose too. Total cost for turbo and labour was £1090, thankfully the mechanic at trust ford has described the original turbo rust as a manufacturers design fault so Ford CRC are currently negotiating how much they will contribute to the cost.

    Update on mine - dropped the car off at Ford Walthamstow this morning. Guy at reception didn't say much other than i asked him the cost of a replacement turbo and he said roughly £1k including labour. Obviously i'll be asking Ford CR to contribute to this cost, but if you have minor rust on these pipes i'd get it sorted before it becomes a problem like this.

    So, I can't get the Ford looked at by an official dealer in london until the 29th! Madness. Confused as what to do here - slightly terrified the pipes could corrode through at any time so loathed to drive the car, but also can't let the battery go flat as i have to get it to the dealer on the 29th. How long can a fiesta be left without being driven before the battery dies? Last big trip was two weeks ago. Ford customer relations have replied, simply saying the complaint has been passed onto a manager and they will get back to me.

    Well i'm resigned to the fact i'll need a new turbo, just hope Ford customer relations pay up. Would be very strange if they didn't consider Ford Denmark does over the same issue. Ludicrous such a vital part of the engine should be so corrosive within 4 years. I'll also get them to replace the coolant hose with the metal insert, as it too is showing signs of corrosion. Not good!
