  1. Keeps catching me out, I took a call from work on my way home yesterday, I was still talking when I parked in the drive, engine turned off (auto Start/Stop) I continued with my call for the next few mins, car in park and hand brake on, took my seat belt off and opened the door, engine started.
  2. Now this has bugged me for years and I have no idea why it happens or why the car is allowed to do this. On my now sold 16 plate S-Max Titanium Sport and my current Edge, and when the Start / Stop is functioning as it should IE car warmed up, no air con on etc etc. The following happens, whenever I park and apply the E Handbrake, if I sit a while the engine turns off as it should with my foot on the brake pedal, I then forget to press the Stop / Start button and I open the drivers door to get out, the engine then starts up, I then have to press the button to turn off the engine. Why does this happen as I am wanting to leave the car even though I haven't pressed the button the engine has stopped due to it's Start / Stop function but starts when the drivers door is opened. I haven't tested this with the passenger door (cos I'm sat in the drivers side) but will get the wife to try next time before I open the drivers door. It does shock me sometimes as it's not expected. A audible warning would be better like when the lights were left on or something to warn you that the ignition isn't turned off. Does this happen to others? Keep safe. Rik
  3. I removed the headlight to replace the headlight bulbs and then the fog bulbs, very easy that way.
  4. Have you tries the links below? 5. I was expecting to much, my wife has been driving the car to work (She is a nurse) and has commented on the lights being better with the LED bulbs fitted than with the standard type. For my wife to notice anything different with a car is a ***** miracle, she was driving her Mini Coop through town and was flagged down by the car behind her as she had 2 flat tyres at the rear, she didn't notice. Got to laugh, bless her. So all good for a not too expensive conversion.
  6. Check you haven't set (or previous owner) the speed limiter. My Edge would accelerate to 70 no issues but then seemed to hit a brick wall, I could only (where safe) get any more speed by flooring the accelerator this overrode the speed limiter. Removed the speed limiter limit (turned off) and all good. I might be barking up the wrong tree though. good luck.
  7. Maybe I'm expecting too much...... Will check again tonight. Cheers
  8. These H7 bulbs just sit in the housing with no twisting, just a fiddly spring clip to fit.
  9. Hi Peter, All the LED bulbs have arrived and I fitted them yesterday. Took the headlights out to fit. Went for a spin last night to test. Fog LED bulbs are brilliant Puddle Light LED bulbs are brilliant DRL and Main Beam LED bulbs are brilliant (H15) Low beam H7's are crap, did you need to adjust yours at all? Most of the beam pattern seems to be very low like directly in front of the car bumper. I went down a road that I know doesn't have street lights and was very surprised at the lack of light coming from low beam, at the moment I think the originals are better. Am I missing something here? I checked the LED size against the original, same height and the position of the 'blade' on the LED is straight up and down when placed inside the housing. Cheers Rik
  10. Evening all, Thought I would introduce myself as I have been trawling this Forum for a few weeks now. I'm a middle aged bloke, and there you have it!! I had a Ford Taurus 1.6 (Cortina in the UK) while serving in Germany in 88, wow, this thing really was Fix Or Repair Daily, lasted 6 months and said I would never touch a Ford again, that is until my trusty Seat Alhambra 1.9 TDi hit the 130k mark and needed some serious pennies spending on it so I reluctantly test drove (on a friends advice) a Ford Galaxy TDCi Titanium on a 2010 plate and 18k on the clock, well, the test drive went on for a little longer than the Ford dealer wanted but he did make a sale that day, I was well impressed as was the missus, could get both kids, mother-in-law, dog and all the gear for a 2 week break in north west tip of Scotland in with a little room to spare. I liked it. After a few years and 50k added to the clock I sold it to a friend who is still driving it today, I was after something a little sportier but still needed loadsa room, decided on an 1 year old S-Max Titanium Sport iAWD that also had the X-Pac fitted by the Ford Dealers manager (It was his car) and with 6k on the clock, mint condition with every extra available, I mean this thing was fully loaded, another lengthy test drive and vehicle sold (there's a pattern here) loved this car and I had a TDI-Tuning box fitted, another few years down the line and me and the missus no longer needed the 7 seats (Mother-in-law can ***** hire a car) so we went out on a Sunday afternoon after Rugby to the local Ford dealer and saw the Edge, big, white, shiny ST-Line 210 and guess what, we didn't get it as it didn't have roof rails (need a roof box to get 4 body boards and wet suits etc. in) but they said there was exactly the same model in another branch without the pano roof but with roof rails and they could get it to them by the following weekend, bye I said and we drove straight to the other branch, chat, test drive (lengthy) and it's now sat on my drive. I love it, TDI-Tunned CRTD4 box fitted (as with all the previous Fords except the Taurus as that was a flippin dinosaur) so now with 260bhp, loadsa torque and better fuel economy. Still plenty of room for le mutt, sitting a little higher now, and wee bit wider 😉 One thing that has disappointed me and it's the reason why I came to this Forum in the first place (for advice and research) is the headlights, I could kick myself for not noticing before I bought it, they are not too good / bright as compared to the once the S-Max has which were 'magic'. So I have opted for a full LED bulb replacement, just waiting for them to arrive. So Germany, yes I served in the British Army from 1986 - 2000, I was in the REME as a Reccy Mech. My missus also server from 1986 - 2008 in the QA's (nurse) we met in Bosnia. Enjoy life, you only get one.
  11. Take a look a TDi-Tuning, had one of their CRDT4 self fit tuning boxes on my 2.0 TDCi Galaxy Titanium on a 2010 plate then on my S-Max Titanium Sport iAWD X-Pac on a 2016 plate, very good results and improved fuel economy, the boxes have advanced hugely over the last few years, I sent the one that was fitted to the S-Max back for a reprogram to fit my (new to me) Edge ST-Line 210 2018, they returned it fully programmed for the new car and with a new harness, takes 10 mins to fit, power up to 260, more pull and better fuel economy to boot. Full instructions with photos provided, colour coded harnesses, may need a small flat bladed screw driver to help getting the connectors apart and some snips to cut the cable ties. All previous vehicles passed MOT with the box fitted and it's trace less once removed (for warranty servicing etc.) Would highly recommend, I did over 50k with it fitted to the Galaxy and over 30k in the S-Max, never had a problem. Bluetooth version now available as previously mentioned by Jay035, you can change to one of the 7 preset setting without having to lift the bonnet (Mine is the non Bluetooth version and I leave it on setting 4 which is factory preset for max economy + power Have fun
  12. Cheers Peter, I will have a look and spend some cash. Can't believe a car costing (when new) over £41k and the headlights are out of the Arc.
  13. Evening all, So I have just bought an 21 month old Ford Edge ST-Line 260 AWD in white with 18000 on the clock. I previously had an S-MAX Titanium Sport iAWD X-Pack (and a Galaxy before that) I'm loving the Edge, plenty of pace inside and very comfy / quiet. Having driven the car quite a few times at night I find the headlights quite crappy compared to the S-Max headlights, which were brilliant, the main beam used to split when a car came the other way and other magic stuff, quite hard to explain. So here we are all discussing these dim crappy lights that remind me of my old Capri or the dynamo I used to have on my old Raleigh Grifter!! I can see that quite a few of you have replaced the standard bulbs with LED replacements but the links to where they were bought from don't seem to work. If anyone had replaced their bulbs (all of the front bulbs, High, Low Beam, Fog etc.) and has links to where they bought them from could you please post the links on here so I can go and purchase them also. Very Much appreciated Cheers Rik Now I am in no way financially associated with TDI-Tuning but I have fitted one of their self install CRTD4 tuning boxes to every Ford car I have owned in the last 8 years and can highly recommend them. Never had an issue.
