Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Happy Birthday chris bowman!

  2. Battery Hell

in my mkii though i didnt find the cause, my battery wasnt holding its charge over night. but despite this registered nearly 14 volts but useless and pathetic amperage which is more importatnt
  3. Brake Vibration

yeah motd last week and being a mate of mine i got the examiner to give that corner extra grief with the old tyre bar to make sure everything is ok and it was. could feel the run off in the disc when turning the wheel by hand. i thought i had given the hub a damn good clean when i fitted the discs a couple of months ago. just never had 2 consecutive bad discs warped particularly on the same side before. rac man has shown me how to clamp a decent set square to the calliper resting on the disc and to turn the disc to the run off point. then i can use feeler guage to measure the run off amount.will use the calliper carrier to do the same with the hub i think.
  4. Video - Is This Normal Clatter ??

must admit sounds fairly normal though perhaps a little louder than mine
  5. Battery Hell

my mkii mondeo 1.8 petrol used to retire a new battery every 2 years! i never got to the bottom of it! got wierd symptoms when it was playing up aswell. whentrying to start the car as the engine turne over slowly, the wipers used to sweep slowly even when they were turned off??? the first hint i ever got however was the central locking being really sluggish. ie unlocking one door after the other over about 4 seconds instead of almost instantaneously. there was obviously something wrong with the electrics but never got to the bottom of it before i got rid of it. u could disconnect the central locking as the module is above the drivers footwell and see if it makes a difference over a few days
  6. Brake Vibration

ok guys dont do alot of mileage, certainly motorway mileage. i have a mkiii 2.0 tdci on 54 plate and have always had slight vibration on braking from the front as i can feel it thru the steering wheel. every mot including today advises this but passes it because it passes on the brake tester.i am on my second set of tsw discs and pads! previously it has been mentioned that it could be the hub is buckled, but ive never heard of this. if i jack the wheel off the ground i can feel the run off on the disc if i turn the wheel by hand. i am thinking of marking the hub in the centre of the disc and turning the disc a couple of studs on the hub then putting the calliper back on. then i can jack the front up and see if the run off point has moved or if it is in the same place. this would then confirm whether or not the disc or the hub is at fault any thoughts as i think i need to try and diagnose this problem before risking another otherwise perfectly good discs and pads,
  7. Whistling!

ok i have seen a diagram of the intercooler pipes and believe the offending item is the turbo intercooler which has oil residue on the botom. my questions are does the oil residue mean its leaking and could this cause the intermittent whistling? also what are the risks to namely the turbo?
  8. Whistling!

ah just looked thru the lower grill in the bumper cos i could see oil dirty oil residue on it. can see a small radiator with what looks like intercooler pipes going in each end and there is dirty oil residue on the bottom of the radiator. could this be the cause of the intermittant whistle im getting and is the unit broken?
  9. Whistling!

this one new on me , usually in first and second gear on quite pacey acceleration i get a whistle start about 1500 rpm which then dissappears about 2000 rpm. if i ease of the throttle before it stops then the whistle changes tone as i go down to wards 1000 revs before going away. i thought of a pin hole leak in the intercooler pipe as i have a 54 plate 2.0 tdci and found it to be a bit grubby so i put o new one on tonite. the whistle is still there only o little better. just thought the turbo may not be running at 1500 rpm as my foot isnt on the floor. wondering what it could be.any ideas or does it seem ok as i usually drive with the windows up and when i do i cant hear it!
  10. Abs Light

cheers buddy just worried if there was a fault with the abs. thanks again
  11. Abs Light

sorry to refresh this post, but any ideas?
  12. Abs Light

i have a mkiii 2.0 115 tdci only when on cold start i turn on the ignition and wait for the warning lights to all go out then when i turn the engine over, the ABS light comes on briefly until the engine fires does anyone know if anything is wrong? no other wqarning lights behave in this way is the battery low, causing the abs to do a recheck?
  13. Handbrake Cable

cheers mate, some have recommended fitting another spring while u wait for the cable to reduce binding on the calliper. but cannot get one even from a scrap yard!
  14. Still Having Issues!!

intercooler pipes is the most obvious as when split they allow warm air into the turbo which stops the fuel burning as efficiently hence the black smoke. trace the pipe from the egr around the engine bay to look for splits
  15. Handbrake Cable

after lengthy investigation as to why the rear n/s calliper handbrake lever will not return, i have found that the rear n/s handbrake cable is sticking to prevent it quite returning. on closer inspection i can see that where the cable comes out of the outer just before the nipple that goes on the calliper, the teflon type coating is damaged and quite rough! i dont think i can get round this. been looking on the net and have found quite cheap ones, but the illustration doesnt look like mine, so having trouble trusting the part will be right. can anyone recommend a supplier that is reasonable?
