  1. Hi all, I'm fighting a losing battle against rust with my MK2 Focus saloon and starting to consider other options as a relatively cheap replacement. I know the 2.2 TDCI in the MK3 ST is the Ford Puma unit but struggling to find out if it has a dpf? (I know they fitted a DPF when it was fitted to Jaguars after a certain build date) I've enjoyed the bulletproof reliability of my 1.8 TDCI Lynx engine with no DPF and have no desire to add to the stress in my life by waiting for a DPF to block! Could any of the regulars that have had a MK3 ST TDCI or still have once confirm if the model ever had a DPF fitted?
  2. Hi, First time poster looking for help (and I *did* do a search on this before posting, but nothing obvious popped up. My apologies if I missed something and have caused annoyance...;-)). My 2010 Mondeo 2.0 TDCi auto has an analogue instrument cluster and the light around the temperature gauge flickers intermittently. The gauge itself seems to be fine. I am lead to believe that the lights are LEDs rather than bulbs and that the only way to correct the flicker is to replace the entire instrument cluster. Is this correct? If so, stupid question No. 1, is there any difference between analogue clusters for manual and autos? Stupid question No. 2, is it possible to replace the analogue cluster with a digital one? Are the connections similar? Thanks for your time! Regards, djp

  4. Hi, I've got an 03 tdci that is coming up to the big 100 km marker. I was thinking for its struggles I'd do a bit if a suspension overhaul. I've got a knocking from the rear offside corner which is really like to cure and a going shock on the rear nearside. The points for my overhaul so far are: - new shocks and springs all round. - new rear drop links. - maybe have the rear subframe off and undercoat it (I've done the rear subframe bushes already and wished ever since I'd tidied the subframe up then) - rear anti-roll bar bushes So my real question is if I'm spending the time stripping all the rear suspension and some of the front is there anything else worth doing while I have the access?
  5. Hello, everyone. I have a very quick question about the Sport mode in the PowerShift transmission on my new Ford Mondeo (11/2012 Titatium Ecoboost 2.0 203cv Powershift), which I just picked up today: Does the car need to be stopped, in order to switch between "Drive" and "Sport"? And if not, if there any speed limit to do this? Incredibly, the Ford seller couldn't answer me this question and the owner's manual isn't clear as well: while it says that "When you select position S, a gear change may occur depending on the accelerator pedal position in relation to actual vehicle speed" - thus implying that it can, indeed, be changed while moving - it also clearly says to "Apply the brakes before moving the selector lever and keep them applied until you are ready to move off". This can be seen in the Mondeo Owner's Manual: (, page 151 and 152) I'd appreciate some help. Thank you in advance.
  6. When I rolled up home after buying the Mondy. So far after getting the car in September this year I've Changed all internal bulbs, numberplate and mirror puddle lights to LEDs. Changed the front grill from grey to Black.....
  7. Having had my drivers side mirror removed by a dear old lady - it exploded, the powdered glass was all up my window and I was left with a stump - I priced a replacement from Ford, cost of parts £350-ish. Nothing in the breakers, on fleabay I found a complete replacement, pattern, from Latvia for £116 + £28 p&p. Physically identical except that it doesn't have the narrow segement down the side, the wiring colours were different and the plug was 8 pin, the Mondy is a 12. Before I go any further my background is a control panel and systems designer, so wiring is something I've done a fair bit of. While I was waiting for delivery (10 days or so) I stuck a round blind spot mirror on what was left, better than nothing. Attached .pdf of wiring mods. Mondeo Mirror.pdf Tony
  8. Anyone had this? The mirrors will fold from the switch on the armrest, but not when the doors lock/unlock. They were OK until a dear old lady hit my drivers side and left me with a stump and some wires, and even then the stump and other side folded OK. I bought an aftermarket mirror assembly which had the wrong plug and the wire colours are different, not a problem, it was sort of my job before I retired, and I traced wiring etc and re-used the old plug. Unfortunately as the puddle light and flasher were just sockets so I couldn't tell which was which, I connected them the wrong way round, the flasher lit when they folded once, and after that they ceased to fold. Any ideas? TonyS

    Broken drivers seat.

Hello everyone, Just a wee question for everyone with a mk4 titanium x sport. Driving through to town on Sunday, all was fine until there was a ping from under my seat ( the drivers ), and I realised that something had broken underneath as I can now move half the base and half the back as well backwards and forwards. Oddest sensation having part of the seat come with you when you brake! Luckily I had the local garage have a look and they found the frame had snapped under the base. Now i am a big chap 6'2" and about 100kg, but I am sure the seats were suppsed to be made of more robust stuff. The garage welded it back together and all is good. Ford said they would have had to replace the whole seat at about £1200!! In the end only cost me £150. Thank god. Anyone else have this or similar problem? maybe if we get enough we can bring this to the attention of Ford themselves?

    Rough Idle

Hi all. Recently purchased a '96 1.8 Verona. 118k miles. A 1 owner car. Only really had motorway usage. It does drive real well, BUT, it's a bit irratic on idle, when it's started from cold it revs quite high (about 1800 rpm). I've cleaned the throttle body etc, and made all the general checks, ie. air leaks, hoses, plugs not fitted correctly etc. But can't seem to put my finger on it. I have an OBD2 tester, but that doesn't work this this car. Any ideas would be appreciated.
  12. Evening all, I'm a new member on here but have been a member on escort OC, Mondeo enthusiast group - remember them! And more recently the fiesta OC and Kuga OC. So I've had a few fords and my most recent is a Kuga MY15.25 which we collected just before Xmas, we also have mk6 fiesta and an A6 Audi avant. I'm joining up for all the useful info I might find (or need). I'm based in Crawley, West Sussex!
  13. Hi all, I have owned my 2010 Titanium Mondeo for a couple of years now and think it's a great car. About a year ago I adjusted the drivers seat in the car and the airbag warning light started to come on and on intermittently when starting the car. The situation stayed this way throughout the winter but then seemed to fix itself when the weather warmed up (from Spring etc.). However, the problem has now returned and the airbag light is now permanently on when i start the car up. I've looked as various solutions online but nothing has worked to this point. This seems to be a very common problem yet I have not found a solution. Obviously I will put it into a garage to see if they can diagnose what is going on but is there anyone that can help me in the mean time? Kind regards Sean

  15. Hi Gang, Bit of a pickle with my MK1 2.0 Petrol. A few weeks back my JBL GTO amp started to intermittently cut out / in, which via testing turned out to be the protection mode. Puzzled I did some more testing and it was only happening when the engine was on, engine off and it works fine. Took it to a garage as I needed a new earth cable (mine had perished) and asked them to test the alternator and battery at the same time. Their conclusion was the battery was fine, alternator works but the alternator was not charging with full load, especially idle, however even with more revs it works when stationary but driving along the amp still cuts in / out and the lights will dim if in traffic corresponding with the amp in / out. The garage suggested a 'more powerful' alternator (if it's possible?), but the thing I don't get is how come I've been running these amps for 5 years on this battery / alternator setup with no issues. So the garage is not 100% sure its the alternator, however I'm stumped what else it could be? I don't mind coughing to replace it, but then I could play the 'lets replace the part' game until I have a new car. I've checked around this forum and so far most things along this vein is to do with the smart charge, but that's not til MK3? I guess what I'm asking is if the regulars here would bet on a new alternator or if there's something else it might be? Thanks
  16. Hi All, I have had my Mondeo 2.0TDCi Titanium, since March and I love it, but have only just noticed that the subwoofer in the boot which is part of the audio upgrade package only works with the rear speakers on. If you fade the sound towards the front of the car the sub gradually stops working. If the sound is faded all the way to the front then the sub doesn't work at all! I'm guessing the sub is wired into the rear speakers only, but that seems to be a very odd way to connect it, surely it should work all the time?? Has anyone else noticed this?. Any thoughts?? I've contacted Ford on Facebook but they say they can't tell me if this is how it should be or not! They said take it to my dealer but I don't want to waste my time if this is just how it is..

    Ford mondeo stereo upgrade

Hi guys i have a 2008 ford mondeo tdci titanium with a sony 6cd changer that I'm looking to upgrade to a kenwood double din stereo. Now I've found the right fascia for the new stereo, but as I've never done a stereo conversion on a car this new, so my question are..... 1 - What leads do I need? Stereo and steering wheel controls I take it? 2 - will the stereo still work with the convers+ system? It doesn't have Bluetooth or voice control or anything so just wondering if the track radio station ect will still come up. 3 - what's the cost? And where can I purchase these bits without getting a loan out? Many thanks in advance stuart
  18. Hey, wondering if someone could shed some knowledge regarding my mondeo. It's a 1.8 TDCI 2010. When the engine is cold she starts absolutely no bother, first turn of the key, but once I've driven for a while issues start. The car just refuses to start, will turn over but just won't ignite. Any information and help would be appreciated
  19. As promised, here is a guide for fitting the submarine, ST style lights to the interior map light unit. Please note, I will not be held responsible to any damage you may make to your car when following this guide. Guide to fit Submarine Lights.pdf I managed to complete this without breaking or scratching any parts of my car, so remember to take your time and if you need any advice please PM me
  20. Hi, I'm hoping someone can offer some advice. I have a problem with a oil leak which I believe is coming from one of my turbo pipes.. However before I start to investigate where its coming from I'm was hoping to wash all the oil off the pipes and engine. Is this possible? i.e. Will it damage anything if I use a hose to try and wash the engine and pipes under the bonnet. Was thinking probably best to disconnect and remove the battery first, rather than just leaving the battery lid on. Can anyone offer any advice concerning this? Cheers
  21. evening all, recently bought a mk3 mondeo. 1.8 petrol. Admittedly it was cheap and intended as a run around for work etc, but a few niggles have appeared. Air con doesn't seem to work, a symbol shows on the dash upon start up, the engine management light came on (running some redex through it at the moment) but has turned itself off. No fault codes stored on my little home scanner. Mpg about 33mpg, I expected more but need to service the car! Also it seems to hang onto the revs between gear changes, it this normal for the car or and indication of a problem? long winded I know, but get fussy over the mechanics of my cars.
  22. Hi New to here so bear with..... My mate is trying to sell this idea to me, any good? Pro's and cons? I have a 55 plate Mondeo 2L TDCi Thanks Caroline
  23. Awrite folks, does anybody know the gear ratios through the box for the Mondeo 4 2.5T TitaniumX? Can't find it for the life of me.
  24. Hello there fellow Ford owners. apologies first off, if this question has been answered a million times on here, please put me in the right direction and mods feel free to close the thread off. Ok, so I would like to know f I can update my Convers+ on my 2008 Mondeo TitX. I gather it's using the first build of software. Can I upgrade it for little tweaks like the parking sensors, bring up on the screen, gear change notification etc. Is this sort of thing possible? many thanks folks, any help appreciated.
  25. Hi I have just bought a very nice 2007 Mondeo 1.8 Zetec. It has front and rear parking sensors, which I suspect may be after market additions? The problem I have is that the front sensor, which is vey loud, seems to be on all the time. If I drive past another car closely, it beeps at me. It is also quite irritating sitting in traffic to have it beeping all the time. I can't see any buttons on the dashboard to switch it off, which would be ideal (which is why I think it is an after market fit?). I would even consider disabling the front sensor as I don't think it that essential. Any suggestions? Thanks Pete
