Hi guys, wonder if I can pick some people's brains on here. My 2008 Focus 1.8tdci has had some suspension issues recently. At first it was the front passenger suspension creaking/knocking when going over bumps, I had this problem diagnosed as a suspension bearing and had this replaced along with the top mount whilst the job was being done. Problem solved, the noise which I had been hearing has gone away... For about a week, but has now been replaced with a new noise... This time it is a loud bang when I go over a bump with any kind of speed or hit a pot hole. I was told when having the other work done that my shock absorber seemed like it was towards the end of its life (car has 140000 miles) and this makes me think that perhaps the suspension is 'bottoming out'? Or could the new noise relate to the previous work not being done properly? Very annoying scenario as I wish I could go back to the old problem now as this new 'bang' is a lot worse that the old knocking kind of noise. On a side note, I was planning on lowering the car using the Eibach springs and keeping the original shocks, but now this one has failed (possibly) would I be better getting a coilover kit? or replace just the 1 worn shock with an OEM part and then get the springs like I planned? Hello all. I've just purchased an 2008 Ford Fusion 1.6 TDCI. I wouldn't mind having a go at re-calibrating the ECU to get better driveability fuel economy etc. As it happens I am an engineer and for the past 2 1/2 years I have been recalibrating the ECU of a 1.6 TCDI (DV6) engine for emissions with an adaptered manufacturer ECU. (Unfortunately I have no idea how to do a normal production ECU) Maybe I will just do an EGR blank instead! -Though I'm not sure wheather to have a hole in the plate or not on my model? Unless of course I can find an easy way just to remap it? Or borrow an ECU from work? Thoughts? Thanks
Hey! A couple days ago I got a Fiesta Zetec '08 Special Blue Edition, and I can honestly say I love it, absolutely fantastic car! So many nice little features that you wouldn't even think about when purchasing it but genuinely do make the car that much more enjoyable to be in. Small side note, am I right in saying this is a mk6.5 Fiesta? (58 plate but not new style) So, onto the topic in question; the headunit. About a month ago I bought an Alpine CDE-123R headunit which I plan on fitting into the car. The car currently has the stock Sony headunit fitted and I want to know what kind of cables/adapters/fascia I need to acquire to fit my Alpine headunit. The current headunit in the car... Note; not my picture. I want to be able to connect my iPhone 5 via USB and use it to play music, not interested in the whole bluetooth/handsfree in car calls. I think I'm going to need some form of adapter as the Alpine headunit has a different shaped cable block at the back. Also will I be able to use volume changer on the steering wheel? Any help would be very much appreciated, and I once I have it all figured out I do plan on making a guide for this model Fiesta as there doesn't seem to be any out there (well none that I could find).
