Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. loss of grip

Hi guys, recently (past 1 month) I have notices that my front tyres (mainly the front right) seems to be slipping when I take corners at high speed or hard turning round roundabouts. I have also noticed if I am going 2-5 MPH in traffic and build up some room in front of me and put the foot down the car starts to pull to the right. I have a ford fiesta zetec s 15 plate with 17" alloys and low profile tyres. I have already had a few issue with tyres going flat really fast and losing pressure (they have no punctures just getting low kinda fast every few weeks I see myself getting them back up to the recommended pressure as it drops 2-3 PSI. The back tyres never give me problems just the front and the right on is the worse. Any ideas if its just me being to heavy handed with turning and a bit to fast or if its a potential issue. Cheers,
  2. Hi, Been a lurker for a while but after some info / advice is poss please. I have a 2010 Mondeo 2.2 Diesel Estate, a couple of weeks ago i reversed off of my drive, stopped, put full right hand lock and started to pull away and felt a 'clunk' through my near side front wheel, at the time i thought i had driven over a stone or something, didnt think nothing of it. Yesterday it happened again and then again this morning although this morning it happened a couple of times. Seems to happen when first pulling off. I have also noticed that the outer edge of the near side front wheel is bald. I check my tyres on a regular basis and didn't notice the worn tyre last time i checked my pressures maybe just over a week ago. The rest of the tyre has plenty of tread remaining, tyre is only a year old. I have a feeling it maybe a CV joint but would welcome anyones thoughts / advice on this. Taking it too the garage later this week to have it looked at. Many thanks Al
  3. Hi. I recently purchased a 51 mondeo diesel estate. My previous car was a saab 95 aero estate and sold it due to the rocketing fuel prices. Going from my saab to the mondeo was quite a shock in more ways than one. Not only was I getting 3 times more milaege out of the ford but it was doing it rather sluggishly. Someone advised me to buy a chip to raise the BHP from 115 to 147 (give or take) so I purchased one which plugs directly into the common rail. This is where I ran into problems. I went to fit it today and could not find the common rail, or anywhere I could plug the chip into. Any ideas where I would plug the chip into or have I bought the wrong chip. If so can anyone recommend a chip that I can use (assuming I can) Heres a link to where I purchased it from. http://www.racechip.de/en/chiptuning/ford/mondeo/3-b4y/2-0-tdci-85kw/index.php Thanks ever so much Andrew
  4. Cv Joint Failure?

HI I recently noticed that my focus was making a clunking noise the second i turned into a right hand corner, I assumed that this was a track rod end and I'd get round to changing it soon. But when checking the wheel bearing on the driver side... which is also knackered. I thought i'd check the passenger side. only to be greeted by a regular clunking noise, sounding like its coming from inside the engine bay. I ruled out the gearbox because surely it would make the noise regardless of which wheel is spun, its not the wheel bearing. Could it potentially be a diff bearing? though again it sounds nothing like bearing. And one last thing it seems to improve when slowing down ie load on the driveshafts is reversed. I'm new to the car so maybe someone more experienced with focuses (foci?) than me knows better. Car is a 2000 mk1 1.8 petrol Thanks :)
  5. Squeal When Turning

Need a bit of advice/help, when steering left or right, something makes a high pitch squeal, it comes and goes, usually comes when steering round corners at a reasonable speed, tried taking both wheels off and cleaning brake discs and calipers, lubricating joints etc, removed any build up of rust n dust basically. Anyone had anything like this or know of any fixes. Fiesta mk7 59 plate Cheers
